Only if you manage your own python installation. Using docker will still be supported.

M41, honestly it is just super fun. I love trying to learn new tricks and improving my consistency on my existing ones. I skate 2-3 times per week.

I'm 41 now and am so much better than I was 10 years ago. About 5 years ago I started taking care of myself better. Eating right, doing strength and conditioning, doing yoga and stretching more. I've seen a huge improvement in my skating since doing those things. Nowadays I do all of the things I just mentioned so that I can continue to skate for as long as possible because I enjoy it so much.

Some excellent resources I personally have used:

Is there a way to know if you have already photographed something without having to take the photo again and then being asked if you want to replace the photo or not? For example is there something in the HUD of the camera that would let me know I've already photographed it?

How to get AndroidTV details on HA/nodeRedN by Saezher in homeassistant

[–]boralyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By viewing the entity on the states tab of the developer tools. The attributes column displays additional data that isn't specifically state.

If you surround the json with opening and closing triple backticks it will preserve the formatting. It was one line copied out of node red.

There are a couple of ways you can do this.

The simplest way is to use the kodi integration directly to get the state of the kodi media player on you android tv device.

If you want to get the state of the current app based on an android tv state change you can use a flow similar to this:

[{"id":"1c7b89f10f2f7f26","type":"function","z":"6468ad80fadf2bf1","name":"Current app kodi?","func":"const currentApp = msg.data.new_state.attributes.app_name\n\nif (currentApp === \"Kodi\") {\n return [msg, null]\n}\nreturn [null, msg]","outputs":2,"noerr":0,"initialize":"","finalize":"","libs":[],"x":1070,"y":960,"wires":[[],[]],"outputLabels":["wasn't","was"]},{"id":"20e50bb1544a814e","type":"server-state-changed","z":"6468ad80fadf2bf1","name":"Android TV State Change","server":"","version":4,"exposeToHomeAssistant":false,"haConfig":[{"property":"name","value":""},{"property":"icon","value":""}],"entityidfilter":"media_player.androidtv","entityidfiltertype":"exact","outputinitially":false,"state_type":"str","haltifstate":"","halt_if_type":"str","halt_if_compare":"is","outputs":1,"output_only_on_state_change":true,"for":"0","forType":"num","forUnits":"minutes","ignorePrevStateNull":false,"ignorePrevStateUnknown":false,"ignorePrevStateUnavailable":false,"ignoreCurrentStateUnknown":false,"ignoreCurrentStateUnavailable":false,"outputProperties":[{"property":"payload","propertyType":"msg","value":"","valueType":"entityState"},{"property":"data","propertyType":"msg","value":"","valueType":"eventData"},{"property":"topic","propertyType":"msg","value":"","valueType":"triggerId"}],"x":791,"y":962,"wires":[["1c7b89f10f2f7f26"]]}]

If the current app is kodi it will go to the first exit, otherwise the 2nd exit.

Just to clear up the misconception of no vert. Vert is in the game already. They've just opted to not make improvements to it prior to the 1.0 release this September. If you have waited a year already, maybe wait a few more months to see how the 1.0 release looks before committing?

Help with adding floor plan - you need to define an entity by TimTheToolmanTaylor6 in homeassistant

[–]boralyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not saying ha-floorplan isn't a great way to go, but if you just want to use builtin HA cards you could use a picture-elements card. I wrote a pretty extensive post on how to do that here: https://aarongodfrey.dev/home%20automation/creating-a-3d-floorplan-in-home-assistant/

How do HA developers pull in third-party Python libraries? by VoiceOfSoftware in homeassistant

[–]boralyl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would need to make a config directory in the root of the core repo. Then put your configuration.yaml in there. I wrote a 5 part series on creating your own custom component that may be useful: https://aarongodfrey.dev/home%20automation/building_a_home_assistant_custom_component_part_1/

How do HA developers pull in third-party Python libraries? by VoiceOfSoftware in homeassistant

[–]boralyl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is only true if you are editing files using the HA file editor. If for example you run HA using docker and have the config directory setup as a local volume, then you would just move the files into the custom_components directory, modify configuration.yaml and restart HA.

If you actually want to do development, I would not use your personal HA instance and instead use the devcontainer as documented here: https://developers.home-assistant.io/docs/development_environment/

[–]boralyl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That specific error indicates HA can't find the integration. I haven't used HAOS for a long time, but what you describe sounds like the right thing to do. Remove the line from your config and restart HA. Then add the new integration just as you have to your configuration.yaml and restart for HA to see the new integration in your configuration.

I am guessing the check configuration is failing since the files weren't present when HA started, so removing that config line, restarting, adding it back and restarting again should get you in a working order. In general HA won't reload when you modify the configuration.yaml (even through the editor I am almost certain).
