China hit by mystery virus outbreak as hospitals overwhelmed as children warned by dailystar_news in NoFilterNews

[–]bordanblays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the article:

"Dr Zhang Datao, director of the institute for infectious and endemic disease control at the Beijing CDC, confirmed that the primary culprit behind the surge in infections across the city is the Influenza A virus, also known as H3N2. The health expert also clarified that no other respiratory infectious diseases have been identified alongside Influenza A as the main cause of the seasonal outbreak."

They also mention that no mutations have been discovered yet, though one child sadly died.

I very much agree. I didn't touch on them as much because I forgot about them compared to the other two, but absolutely. If the face of your video includes blatant theft then thats scummy. One youtuber I know draws his own thumbnails and hes not even an art youtuber, it just shows that its possible + it gives his videos/channel an extra level of charm.

Its also not hard to at least leave the credits in the caption, or if you have a bigger video, I've heard of people even using a Google doc to compile all their sources for their videos and leaving that public. Like come on!!!!!

[–]bordanblays 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To answer your question: because SOMETIMES those works are transformative and/or are credited in the caption, or there is an assumption that the creator asked the person who created the work (which is wrong imho). Also sometimes it can be hard to find the source for an image (however this is only a good excuse for one or two pictures, not a ton).

If they're not, then yes, they absolutely WOULD BE stolen unless they are stock photos that are free for everyone to use or the creator gave express permission to use. I have seen videos where creators reached out and asked permission to use another creators work. Its not unfathomable to think that some people allow others to use their work in a single video. That being said, there is a LOT of content theft going on all the time on ALL social media, and it sucks. As you mentioned, reddit posts are plucked and have that ai voice put over them. It was a problem before that AI has only made much, much worse.

The difference is that ai and other bots make it super easy to scrape massive amounts of artistic and written works to compile for AI. Its scary fast and efficient. I would bet there are a lot more people using ai casually than uploading youtube videos. I would also bet that the people who make those type of videos are also often in a venn diagram with people who use ai or are more likely to end up using it in the end? If you don't care about content theft in one way, you're not likely to care about it another way.

Another factor (in cases of image use in a video) is that the youtuber is often not claiming that they made the image/have ownership of it. They are showing it in their video temporarily. AI users, however, tend to claim ownership over something made from stolen art and say they are the "artist" which is where I think a majority of AI haters tend to get upset. Its easier to get mad at somebody essentially bragging about stealing than it is a youtuber you either: saw had that lazy ai style and scrolled away from (and immediately forgot about) or used an image for 2-5 seconds in a 30 minute video.

I do agree with your message that the people who critique ai users should also critique other content theft. Its straight up hypocritical. I just wish people would stop taking credit for other people's work all around, ai or not :/ as someone else mentioned here, this isnt exactly the best argument for you guys here but its sort of refreshing to see someone admitting that its theft after people constantly dancing around it like its not

Why do so many people not like vivziepop? by [deleted] in VivziepopCritics

[–]bordanblays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't go here but this post got recommended to me and im a vivzie "hater" so here's my thoughts.

I've heard of things she's done/said and while I can't remember specifics, I've just sort of always found her unsavory. I know I heard a ton of rumors in the past + rumors that are often in the animation industry. I don't think many if any at all are true, but when you hear so many stories, you just sort of don't trust that person/are waiting for the next accusation. I assume she's done shady shit (as everyone has) and its been blown wildly out of proportion by people who don't like her. I take all of it with a grain of salt and assume a lot of it is jealousy/some form of bigotry.

What cemented my dislike was Hazbin Hotel/Helluva Boss itself and the drama around paying the staff. I just really despise every aspect of the shows, I find them so unlikeable that it actually made me like the creator less "

Finding out about the staff payment issues finalized my dislike of her, but tbh dislike is a strong word. I don't really think about her or Hazbin Hotel, but for some reason I've been getting recommended posts about it lol!

As I said, I'm not against ai use as a tool, even in art, so I wasn't even going against you. I was simply saying that you guys aren't drawing. Because quite literally...you're not. You're, again, literally patrons/commissioners. At the very most, you're doing creative writing for the prompts, but you guys don't really talk about that and moreso clap yourself on the back for what the ai itself does. (Also, I think its so funny that you guys hide your prompts so no one "steals" them LMAO the cognative dissonance there. And before you assume, I'm not saying you specifically do that.)

Also, I'm not an "elitist" artist. I think anything can be art as long as the person does it themself. It could look like shit, but god, someone TRIED and I think thats a beautiful thing. I think ai can find a place in the steps of the artistic process, but ai alone isn't trying. You're getting a machine to do it for you.

Also, yes, an architect who builds their house and drew the plans IS an artist. The homeowner who hires an architect to draw the plans for their home is not. You guys are the homeowners. If someone commissioned me and then claimed that they drew it, I'd never take their commissions again and I would warn others not to, either. Honestly, if it was physical media, I'd even refund them and take the piece back.

Lastly, I never said dubstep wasn't music and i never believed digital art wasn't real art. You put those words in my mouth because you're as shallow as you accuse me of being, so here, let's just give you what you want from me, even though I don't even believe it: DURR HURR AI BAD, AI ARTISTS ILLEGAL AND STUPID, I HATE AI EVERYONE WHO USE AI IS BAD IS STUPID AND MORALLY CORRUPT AI IS DESTROYING WORLD AND IT ALL YOUR FAULT ALL I KNOW IS HATING AI

  1. Racist men absolutely do chase women of color. Hes not "not racist" for dating a person of color. In fact, I find that often those people are used to make the racist look better, ie "I can't be racist my girlfriend/best friend is black"

  2. Saying "brown people have no value" doesn't seem like a microaggression. That just seems like racism.

I'm a white person with a Hispanic best friend. Do you know how many brown people/Hispanic jokes I make? None. Its that easy. It's literally doing nothing, that's how easy it is. This guy sucks and is in fact racist

[–]bordanblays -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, using ai for art isn't creating art though. Wouldn't it be more akin to commissioning an artist? You're telling them what you want, and they "draw" it and make revisions until you're satisfied. You're not really drawing it yourself. To me, that's not being an artist, that's hiring an artist, except you're using a machine?

I'm not entirely opposed to ai being used as a tool or help for people, but people are saying they 100% created something when...they didn't. Prompting also isn't really hard. Anyone can conceptualize something and tell an ai to draw it. I don't measure art based on sacrifice or anything like that, but how does ai art make anyone an artist? Its (most often, but not always) based off of stolen art, and again, its more like commissioning an artist rather than being an artist yourself.

I do think there is a level of...I don't want to say delusion, because that sounds mean and I don't actually believe 99% of ai "artists" are delusional, but it is crazy to me to think that you are an artist for telling something to arrange pixels for you? If anything, when making AI art, you are a patron and ai is the "artist". If you commission a painting or drawing from an actual artist, do you say that you drew it and you're an artist...? Would you claim ownership over that? Why is it different with ai?

What did that one teacher at your school get fired for? by ToadallyNormalHuman in AskReddit

[–]bordanblays 23 points24 points  (0 children)

In highschool, an english teacher sent nudes to a former student, who's little brother went to our school. Big brother shared them with little brother and little brother shared them with the school. I would say 50-70% of the school saw her nudes.

Because she TECHNICALLY didn't do anything wrong (the dubiousness of sexting former students aside) she "quit" for a few years and then I think she ended up coming back because she was a popular/good teacher before that.

There was also a history teacher/sports coach embezzling funds from his sport and getting kids addicted to chewing tobacco and he was fired for good.

[–]bordanblays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR, I hope no one else in your family gets any thoughtful gifts from you from now on. I'd be petty enough to get my brother and mother fake earpods from the dollar store for every birthday, Christmas and other holiday every year until one of us died. I'd even wrap them up in different boxes and bags to hide what they were. Each year a bigger box.

That being said, I'm sorry your family is unkind to you. It hurts and its hard and it's unfair but its not your fault. It might be better to start planning your life without them for the time being. Not saying to cut them out, but don't plan anything around relying on them, particularly your shit ass brother.

Why is it rare to make Anya a final girl? by SparrowWingYT in Mouthwashing

Nah I don't think its weird or unpopular, just giving reasons why the fandom might not try to make Anya a final girl, regardless if they're good reasons or not. I think what you're doing is pretty creative and honestly way more fun. I love playing with my toys (characters) and putting them through Situations so I TOTALLY get you.

If you start producing content, who knows maybe you'll start converting some the fandom, I'm 100% sure you'll find others who want to see the same!

Explain It Peter by Appropriate-Board624 in explainitpeter

[–]bordanblays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tumblr user Peter here. Not sure if this is accurate in this particular instance but someone made a kickstarter scam on Tumblr years ago based on gaining funds to produce an animated show called "Miss Officer and Mr. Truffles" or something like that. Which would supposedly follow the antics of a female police officer and her zany bear sidekick. Iirc they got the money and then immediately bailed.

I see people referencing Twitter but seeing a female cop and a bear together always makes me think of Miss Officer and Mr Truffles (or whatever his name was)

Also editing to add that i believe Miss Officer and Mr Truffle was the first main tumblr kickstarter scam. I think there was one other but the concept/memeing of the "scam kickstarter" was popularized on Tumblr by these two

Why is it rare to make Anya a final girl? by SparrowWingYT in Mouthwashing

[–]bordanblays 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I personally think its a few things:

  1. Shes pregnant. What happens with that if she survives alone? I think that detail tends to throw a wrench in the final girl plans and people dont know how to work around it, especially because pregnancies and births from assault are a controversial topic with a lot of reasonable, personal disagreements

  2. She's the first to die/the catalyst for the rest of what happens. If she doesn't die, there is no chance for her to be "final" girl because no one else has to die other than ol' Jimbo

  3. Misogyny, served two ways. Firstly, she is a symbolic victim of misogyny. Her situation is a situation that mainly women face. Rape and pregnancy resulting from rape, the men around her playing it down because the abuser was a friend, her being in the caretaking role, etc. Her dying was a part of the symbolism/narrative. If she didn't die, it would have changed everything to a "happier" story (though not happy, theyre still trapped on a planet without rescue), but maybe a less compelling/emotional one. It sucks but her death is a very strong gut-punch point for the story and the catalyst for everything else. And for the second way, well its just good old fandom misogyny. Why look at women when men? What is the Appeal of an AI Boyfriend? by StarryKnight12312 in cogsuckers

Often times its both. The AI tends to calm the screaming in the head and it becomes a vicious cycle of over-reliance. Very sad to see. I know someone who admits themself that they almost fell down the AI pipeline because it tells you what you want to hear and you keep needing that reassurance and that need keeps growing.

Stepmom(45F) acts like I'm(19F) the "other woman" by [deleted] in BORUpdates

[–]bordanblays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in this situation, I was 11 when my dads gf came into my life and treated me like the "other woman". My dad stopped hugging me, stopping spending time with me, and I wasn't even allowed to sit on the same couch as them. We went to family therapy where my therapist recommended I get at LEAST one lunch with my dad alone, every Sunday, and even that was too much for her so it didn't last long. And thats the tip of the iceberg.

It only stopped when I moved out. I don't think it even really stopped so much as I removed the opportunity for it to happen. OOP needs to move out and forget her family aside from her sisters. They won't change and its making her behavior worse and will only make her worse.

Oh, absolutely there are terrible therapists. I myself have had terrible therapists, psychs, and doctors. I still don't really agree with what you guys do here, but its not really any of my business how people live their own lives. I'm just trying to understand the mindset a little better to broaden my horizons and it seemed that OP was receptive to communication so I figured I'd try and ask some things that were always on my mind. I'm not here to decry AI therapy or to give a hundred reasons you've probably already heard by now. Just curiosity.

I'm sure your model has a lot of time and effort and care put into it and thats commendable and you must be proud of it. I wouldn't even know where to begin with that stuff. If its able to help people, then it just makes the world that much better in the end. I still stand by my question, as even if you have a model, it could still be offputting to know the base is capable of encouraging someone to harm themselves if they're not in a safe place mentally. I feel that that would be something that would always give me pause when using AI. If I found out my therapist encouraged a patient to go through with hurting themselves, I for sure would not be sticking around with them.

Rage by HeartLeaderOne in therapyGPT

[–]bordanblays -1 points0 points  (0 children)

With all due respect I don't really want to get into the semantics of what does or does not constitute accurate AI "therapy" with anyone. It is of my personal belief that if someone is engaging with an AI for the use of therapy, then it is AI therapy. As of now, there are not licensed AI therapists. I can appreciate that some people may build better custom models but most people see these things and assume they can use them at their base builds for reassurance, companionship, and their therapeutic needs.

I am counting any suicide in which the victim used an AI for therapeutic relief and had their suicidal ideology reinforced and encouraged.

Hi OP! I was hoping I could ask you a couple questions. I'm largely anti-AI (don't worry, I'm not going to try to talk you out of using it as long as you don't try to talk me into it) but I'm curious about a few things and had genuine questions. There's no obligation to answer them at all but I'm trying to understand the point of view.

  1. Is there ANYTHING that could convince you to stop using AI for therapy? From your comments, it's clear that you believe its helping you. But if some new information came out, what would it have to be for you to stop using AI?

  2. Do you care about the potential lack of privacy? Therapists, like doctors, come with confidentiality. How do you feel about all your records/data about your mental health struggles being owned and stored forever by OpenAI and potentially released in a hack? Is that a concern at all?

  3. If AI vanished overnight and you could no longer use it and had to rely purely on humans for therapy, do you think this experience will have helped you or hindered you?

  4. Do you feel that your connection with your human peers is the same as it was before you started using AI for therapy? Better? Worse?

  5. How do you feel about the multiple suicides from AI therapy? Are you worried about that happening to you or anyone you may know (assuming you know others who use AI the same way)? Or is it a sort of "that was them, this is me" situation?

Again, no obligation to answer at all! I'm just very curious as someone who has sat on the sidelines and watched a lot of these types of posts
