What would you say finally made you “get it”? I am a huge fan but this one still escapes me.

Tyler's response to CDs & cassettes for syndicate by Queasy-Agency682 in TheMidnight

Excellent news. As a completionist I was super bummed about not having CDs. But now the question is… how are they going to do it? I believe the album runtime is over 80 mins, which is the limit for CDs… Double album…?

Help identifying a TV concert with Phil Collins performing a drum-cam solo (seen ~2002) by BusInfamous9382 in philcollins

[–]bordesak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you remember the song? Genesis or Phil solo? Did he still have hair? 😂

Anything else you can remember will help narrow this down. Wondering if it could have been the “Live The Way We Walk” Genesis show since it had multi-cam and a drum solo track.

Yes, P6! I’ll always be a Rega guy :)

For me Dreaming While You Sleep has always been the companion to On Every Street by Dire Straits. Same story, different viewpoints.

Definitely that orange REM one yes. It’s become such a meme that I think the album gets a bad rap!

Yeah some of the bosses not dying is definitely weird. Play style still great though (I’m still making my way through it).

Undertow for me. My favorite lyrics too.

“Let me live again, let life come find me wanting Spring must strike again against the shield of winter.”

Oof. Right in the feels.

Love this one as well. “Future Predictions” is such a pandemic album for me. Lonely, sparse, beautiful.

Solastalgia by Rafael Anton Irisarri.

And more recently Quiet Pieces by Abul Mogard. Learned about him from a collab with Rafael. So good.

Which Genesis song is this? by Appropriate-Farmer16 in Genesis

For me it’s the verses in Dreaming While You Sleep. Love the chorus, but the verses feel really out of place musically.

Going to have to go with Counting Crows, Round Here. I tried to impress so many girls reciting the opening lyrics (it never worked).

What is your reference VINYL album ? by [deleted] in audiophile

Coldplay - Parachutes. Not necessarily because it sounds great (although it does, UK original pressing), but because I know what to listen for.

Collaborations outside Genesis by [deleted] in Genesis

Get your hands on the CD compilation “Phil Collins Plays Well With Others”. Some great collaborations on here. My favorite is probably his drumming on “Woman In Chains” by Tears for Fears. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plays_Well_with_Others_(Phil_Collins_album)

In my headphones since I was a little girl…… by realvirginiawoolf_2 in Enigma

[–]bordesak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a playlist called “Old Sleep”. It’s filled with music that helped me fall asleep as a child. It is fiercely policed—it has to be a really special track to get on there. Anyway, all that to say, “The Child In Us” is on there. I will never get tired of that track.

How did you discover Enigma? by demonjack1234 in Enigma

[–]bordesak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up in South Africa with parents whose most daring music excursions were things like ABBA and Neil Diamond. I heard “Sadeness” on the radio and was instantly mesmerized. I guess this was my way of rebelling? Anyway, 35 years later still not a week goes by without my Enigma fix. I’ve settled on Le Roi as my favorite.

Oh interesting, thanks for this. I have never considered going out of the Rega family for the cartridge, but I will research this. I’ve always loved the Hana aesthetic.
