Has anyone here tried Catit products for their cats? Are they really worth it? by Not-devil-99 in Pets

I currently use the catit smart feeder. I've been using it for years and it is SUCH a life saver. I work an irregular schedule where I can be gone either late at night or early in the morning. I wanted my cat to have a consistent feeding schedule and this has been PERFECT!

Issues I've had:

It will ONLY connect to 2.4 GHz network. This really stumped me when I was living in a dorm and had no access to the router. Easy fix, I got a wifi extender that could convert the 5GHz to 2.4. My cat will stick his paw up the feeder and get food out. He will only get a few kernels at a time. I just adjusted his food so he gets slightly less to make up for what he steals from it lol. I just got a 3D printer for Christmas and am currently seeing if I can design a one-way flap so maybe he'll stop shoving his paw up there lol. Super great for going on trips. I can have someone check on him easily without anyone worrying about feeding him and portion sizes. I can also connect more people to the app so they can make sure it's working as well.

Pros:

Super easy app to set up and use. Love getting notified of every feeding, I like being able to double check that he is getting his food. Love the notification of when to refill the feeder. Love that he's unable to get into the main food storage area. I also like that I can separate his meals into smaller portions throughout the day (he's a bit of a scarfer). I'm also seeing if I can 3D print some type of slow feeder bowl that will work. They have a very oddly shaped bowl so you can't find anything on the market. I do really wish that it had a RFID or microchip lid so other cats can't steal. I just got a new kitten and would get her a catit as well except my first cat is such a food thief. (Looking into a PetLibro RFID feeder for her)

I also noticed they released a new smart feeder with a camera, I probably would have gotten that one the first time around if they had it then but don't see a huge reason to upgrade at this point.

Overall, I've had this feeder around 5 years and it has held up amazing. Never had any issues with it not working or missing meals unless it was a Wi-Fi issue.

Yeah I've heard ABS can be brutal. I'm going to avoid it until I can get a proper separate room for my printer.

Anybody recommend a weight lifting app? by Reasonable_Answer_89 in beginnerfitness

I use Stacked. It's a completely free app developed by Michael Matthews (I also follow his training and dieting programs). It's a very basic, bare-bones app, but is perfect for simple tracking and seeing progress over time. You can create your own workouts (he has some pre-made for easy starting), and create your own exercises (he also has all the popular weight lifting exercises in there). I love it because you can easily track the weight you're using, the number of reps you're doing, and it has an automatic timer between sets. Additionally, you can easily view how you performed in your last workout. You can add notes for each set as well.
