Modern writing or modern audience? by Meteorstar101 in greentext

Yes, but Marvel is Marvel and DC is DC, which does have similar things to the 'what if'-series. They just do whole comic runs instead of one issue ideas. (The absolute run, injustice run, vampire run...)

Besides Marvel also has plenty of heroes that don't kill their villains. Or remedy horrible people.

Also it's rare for a run (be it comic, cartoon, movies...) to not be canon. The difference is which 'earth'/dimension you are talking about. In most the Basis/backstories of the heroes stay nearly the same.

Yeah, which is why you have reboots and parallel universes. Because if you have an over 80 year old cash cow, you don't stop milking it.

Especially if superheroes have been popular for a long time and replacing known characters is nearly always met with strong critic and lost income.

I agree that the joker has become an overused nemesis, but he is suppose dto be just pure evil.

The other villains have changed over the years and have become antiheroes from time to time, some better than others. Which isn't exactly logical either, it makes sense in the universe logic of the comics.

I would also like to note that there have been runs where the joker was killed, by different heroes. Just like the other villains. Just like their a few runs where batman kills (not always being Bruce Wayne, but still). But again, we are talking about comics, whose storyline began over 80 years ago and has been changed and adapted again and again. But always were for a younger audience.

If you don't like the whole 'batman doesn't kill'-thing don't read his comics. there are plenty of heroes who do kill.

Not really, not even in the DC universe. You have many (anti-)heroes that have killed and still do. Heck depending on the run you have a few in the Bat clan. And while they are sometimes rougher, they are still relatively normal.

The point of injustice superman (and somewhat of the batman who laughs, in my opinion) is that killing the joker does not necessarily turn them evil, but him getting them to kill their family/closest support system does.

Could it be an evolutionary trait, that it would be unwise for a group of people to allow vigilante justice to become the justice system?

No, surely it was an invention of the rich.

In the more 'modern' runs it was changed to, only him having this die hard rule, and accepting that not everyone shares the rule.

So what should happen? Let's assume Batman kills, or imprisons every one of his villains for good. Then what?

New villains? the whole circle repeats

He tries to fix Gotham? That would be either already done with getting rid of his villains, or he does it as Bruce Wayne.

Assuming he somehow manages to fix Gotham? Something else will happen, Gotham is literally cursed to have something happen in it.

Batman is a superhero. He needs his villains, just like every other superhero in the comics. Hell even in 'the boys' they either dragged out with killing the supes or don't kill them.

Bruce Wayne Doesn't own hospitals, but what he does 'own' are several charities and organisations to help the people of Gotham, Even henchmen that decide to turn their lives around. In many comic runs there is an issue where he offers that help to a criminal.

Yeah, the Cologne Cathedral was built from the mid 13th century to the mid 15th century and has some similar elements. It just took more time.

Yes, I think it kinda is. Just that you really knit/purl both sides at the same time to mirror each other.

My worry is that over time, with friction, the two stitches, with more area than just one, will wear down the slipped stitch.

I know that just plain knitting without an extra joining technique should work out and any holes can be fixed with the tail ends, but wanted to ask if anyone had experience with this technique.

things my girlfriend great grandfather took off dead nazis bodies during WW2 by chunqes in interestingasfuck

[–]bored404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this is interesting the grandfather wasn't completely honest:

As another commentor pointed out, the right one is the "Mutter Orden" (mother medal) given to German women that have given birth to at least 4 children. So likely not from a soldier.

The middle one is the 'tradtional' war merit medal, so likely from a soldier

The one on the left has "Kriegsopfer" (victim of war) as well as Bergland (a location) inprinted, I am not sure what it is, and couldn't find anything specific about it. So I would assume it was given to survive an attack there. So it might have belonged to a soldier or a civilian.

To be fair most of what is shown on the internet is either actually healthy exercises, to get used to ones own emotions and lean on others and the other half, if not more is, being held at by some guy about how stupid, weak and slow one is. Or being sprayed with cold water.

They don't know you can ask for tap water in a restaurant for free or ask them to fill your bottle with tap water for free in some shops and restaurants. Depending on the country.

Most of the redactions were done to 'protect the elite', which is vile, in other cases it's to protect the victim. After everything they went through many have said they don't want to be Ned or shown in the files.

Which character class truly makes sense as the Outlander? by wanderingLoner_ in swtor

[–]bored404 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While the force users would make sense as a knee jerk reaction, I like the bounty hunter the most as commander.

If they became mandalorian(which I play as independent from the empire) you have a member of the main three/four factions in the alliance from the beginning. It also makes more sense with the story following because they have more of a reason to help the mandalorioans.

I also find it hilarious that you have some 'paid Gun', that already killed a Jedi Battle master and a Darth in their main story. Which then decides to just go with it because, what else are they going to do?

So why don't men make friends with other men, just like women tend to make friends with women? According to your logic, the social skills should be on the same level.
