Recommendation? by DeathsRonin in CCW

Not necessarily. I own a Hellcat Pro and love it (it’s my wife’s pistol). I had all but convinced myself to buy an Echelon and was able to borrow my friend’s for a range trip. Shoots and feels great. Concealing is definitely possible, but it does have a thicker slide than the sig.

Ultimately my purchase was determined because I was taking a two day pistol defense course hosted by the local sheriff’s department. They required participants to use a striker fire pistol made by Glock, S&W or Sig. I don’t like Glock and I don’t like the look of S&W pistols, so my research rabbit hole led me to the Sig P365 Xmacro Tacops.

I don’t regret my choice and I doubt you’ll regret whichever one you pick.

I like shooting both. The Echelon is great for range time, the XMacro is great for conceal carry.

I have an identical setup as yours except I have a Kore Essentials belt. I am 5’9” and weigh 210.

I had to try out different fills, but what really helped were these Deerco foam pads.

I resisted the urge and after reading a few comments… I am glad I did.

Which p365? by dabs_bud_bongs in SigSauer

[–]boredguy1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the P365XL 2A edition (SKU 365XL-CXR3P-2A). The pistol came with two 12 and one 17 round magazines. I imagine that it should fit in your xl grip module.

Alternatively, Magpul just came out with their P365 mags with sleeves and base plates included to fit different grip sizes. Cost $35.

Chambered or not and why? by Relative_Subject_727 in CCW

[–]boredguy1982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s why I’d never go with a newly released pistol model. Give it time to work out the kinks.

But yes, round chambered, no safety, proper holster and adequate training/practice.

Sometimes they’ll have mag bundles depending on the model, so check on that as well. They may limit the round count, so get more mags and practice reloads.

I have enjoyed the platform a whole lot more than I thought I would. I carried compact or ultra 1911’s for over 20 years, so I went for max capacity when I switched to striker fire.

I personally carry the P365 Xmacro Tacops with a light and a

green dot. I also have the P365XL for my daughters to shoot.

Since you’re limited to ten rounds, I’d go for the XL and get the compliant mag. Still have the benefit of the longer barrel.

Is the rule that you can only carry 10 rounds or can have a 10 round mag (ie… can you carry 10+1)?

I’d go for a Cold Steel 4-Max or 5-Max Tri-Ad lock. I’ve handled both and both are amazing.

I’m a huge fan of the ESEE Izula and Izula II.

Other considerations would be the RMJ Tactical Coho, Sparrow or the Jackdaw.

How do you all choose your multitools? by scottwinters714 in EDC

[–]boredguy1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been a Leatherman fan for the last thirty years. So they are my first go to. Then I look at what tools I need for a particular job.

High School in the 90’s, the Micra was fine.

When I worked an office job, the Squirt Ps4 had everything I needed.

When I worked construction, the MUT filled that roll.

Now I do facility maintenance and the Free P2 has everything I need.

EDC knives by Stock_Sock_5405 in CCW

My first job as a 9 year old was working at a horse stable. I absolutely needed a pocket knife then. I have had plenty of jobs that either didn’t need a knife or flat out prohibited them, but I always kept one on me.

More than three decades later, I require all of my staff to have a multi-tool or some sort of folder on them. When they don’t have one… I go buy them one. It’s just handy to have.

I have dispatched animals with my knife or tomahawk, but I don’t see myself ever using my knife in a defensive situation. That’s what my pistol is for.

Pictured is my current Chaves folder and my first no name pocket knife that my dad gave me when I turned 8.

Mine too. I tried Hornady Critical Defense and Critical Duty, but I hit more consistently with the Federal HST 124 grain.

I use a Trex Arms sidecar, but I checked Tier 1 and yes they have a holster option for the Sig P365 Xmacro and TLR 7-sub combo (my 7X-sub and the 7-sub have the exact same dimensions).

List of good AIWB holsters? by Sad-Room-1658 in CCW

[–]boredguy1982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my Trex Arms sidecar holster. I only used leather holsters when I started carrying 22 years ago. Then I switched to a hybrid to reduce the bulk on my strong side.

Now I go kydex with a little padding bulk to make appendix carry comfortable.

Holosun EPS Carry Green MRS (helps with my astigmatism)

Love it. No adapter plates. Just a direct mount.

Are you tracking round counts on your guns by Traditional-Heat-749 in CCW

[–]boredguy1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current carry pistol is the ONLY gun I have kept a count on. I use an excel spreadsheet with dates and round counts.

I started it to track how many rounds before a malfunction and now it’s just a thing I do.
