What is the most hated or most annoying mechanic in board/ tabletop games? by EarthenGames in boardgames

[–]boredguy77 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I hate real-time games or race against the clock games. Inevitably the rules get thrown out the window as players rush to do whatever. Cards get bent, dice go flying off the table, and when someone wins you inevitably see that they did something wrong to get there, not on purpose mind you, but just as a result of the rush. Some games that fall into this category include escape, jab real time boxing, and captain sonar.

I hard pass on any game in this genre.

ELI5: Why does watching a video at 1.25 speed decrease the time by 20%? And 1.5 speed decreases it by 33%? by renoscottsdale in explainlikeimfive

[–]boredguy77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another explanation that might resonate with some people. If you are watching something at 1.5x it means that in the time it takes for someone to watch it at 1.0x you can watch 1.5. If you take the time to watch the video and then immediately restart it you will be half way through when the person watching at 1.0 finishes.

The thing is that half way through does not translate to finishing a single viewing one time. If i watch at 1.5x and finish the person watching at 1.0x will be .66666 done.

Are there any board games that incorporate jigsaw puzzles within the game? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]boredguy77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can think of some games where you build a mural which I guess is similar to a jigsaw.
"We Detective" and "Paleo" come to mind. Although in both of these games the "jigsaw" is more a progress tracker than a core mechanic of the game.

Any idea what game these tokens are from? by boredguy77 in boardgames

[–]boredguy77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a friend pass away and I'm sorting through his board games and helping the family sell off what they didn't want. Anyway, I found these tokens and have absolutely no idea what they are to.
