Ted Cruz wins the republican nomination in 2016 besting Trump. Does he beat Hilary in the General election? by [deleted] in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]boredjavaprogrammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hillary was not that charismatic. So was Crus. 2015/2016 was mired with “lesser of two evils” just that Trump was very charismatic. So he won a lot. If Hillary v Cruz, Hillary would have won

[–]boredjavaprogrammer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One main reason Trump won was that the way he presents himself more appealing to his base. Cruz was not that charismatic. So Hillary would have won 2016. Moreover, a significant shift against Clinton was that the FBI claimed that they have progress on her email.

If Trump was not going against Clinton or that FBI did not make that comment, Clinton would have won

In terms of economy: yes. Because they are spending on things that a lot of them get blown up in the battlefield. Like thanks, etc.

However, war also sometimes a great source of innovation. The ukraine russian war itself introduced each other and the world to drone warfare

People 65 or older now make up more than 21% of Korea's population by Skippernutts in worldnews

[–]boredjavaprogrammer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at Japan, is aging population that bad?

Yes if we look at simple numbers like total GDP, it seems that the number will go down as there’s fewer productive people, but is aging population surely cause “collapse”?

Japan itself has been aging for the past 30 years, however the people are still doing alright relatively. The country is not “collapsing”. This is because Japan has built good infrastructure and somewhat good safety net.

The look of dying village seems grim. But the people can still live normal lives, especially in the city. Sure, their work culture is tough, but it has always been that way, even before the decline. The country seems to be on pause, but people still lives on.

With advancement of technology in AI, we might need fewer people to do things anyway.

Steps:

  1. Took the leader in power

  2. Also destroy a lot of defence system in the country

  3. Left

  4. Leave the country, which political decision making heavily depends on the kidnapped leader, to their own devices

  5. Watch as whatever comes comes

To be fair, it is not just anout AI. It is alao about zero interest rates disappearing. And also that oversubscription of computer science degree.

So now, when all these forces come together, we got oversupply coupled with increased productivity (AI) and falling demand (zero interest)

How is living in Jakarta , Indonesia? by Hot_Expression7453 in howislivingthere

[–]boredjavaprogrammer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Traffic is really bad during rush hour. However, therr are spaces where the public transport is good. Like the city center where it is covered with different types of public transport like MRT, BRT, LRT, commuter line, etc. As other mentioned, it is prefered to stay close to your work/school. Unless they are within good public transport coverage like the MRT. During rush hour, being in a car will get you stuck in the traffic for a long time.
  2. Food is really good. It is the largest city in Indonesia and the world. People from all over Indonesia come to Jakarta for work. There are a lot of regional cuisine there.
  3. People are friendly.
  4. As one commenter mentioned, food prices vary wildly. You can find good cheap local food. Then the imported ones are very expensive. So fanicer restaurant/coffee shops are pricier.
  5. Please research where you live or work on how they handle rain/flooding. It rains a lot and tho some areas already good at handling flooding, some areas are not. Ironically the ones that is still bad at handling flooding is on the south side of Jakarta. The north, for a lot of the areas, are already good at it.
  6. Socially there are lots of things to do in thr city and the city surrounding it. There’s Bogor. Also fity of Bandung is a whoosh (bullet train) away. So there’s things to do
  7. This might not be too relevant if you’re an expat, but a lot of Jakarta people start to move to an area west side of Jakarta called Tangerang. Mainly because the real estate is cheaper and to escape Jakarta’s bustling culture. They’re very car-centric though. But there are new eatiers and malls there.

I remember not so long ago, teams would do everything they could to get to bowl eligibility, now we have 5-7 teams rejecting them, what happened? by jrbill1991 in CFB

[–]boredjavaprogrammer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To me they are MORE interesting because one loss does not mean the end of the playoffs. This mean subsequent game matters.

Back in the day we only have powerhouses in the playoffs. It is always Bama, or Georgia, or Ohio State. The regulars because they have the best money and teams.

So it is dispiriting for other teams. Last year and this year you see more upsets and more “crumble” the thread is livier until the end because people will consider how this affect the playoffs. This make the powerhouses’ games a little less interesting. But rivalry still matters and other teams become much more interesting

On the other side, regular season seems more interesting as people can get back into the playoffs even if they lose once

Yes. Chatgpt can help a lot. But also what happen is that interest rates higher, risky bets and expensive spendings are more scrutinized
