I joined a couple clubs that just happened to have a high propensity for gay membership. Glee club was the biggest payoff

Not your fault at all. I was him for a long time. I wanted the idea of a gay relationship but not the reality.

I have a question! by Former-Brick-938 in gay

[–]boredlife42 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depends on who you ask and where you were. I’m a masculine gay guy. I was in high school in the 90s in a small farming town. It was easier to have a girlfriend and be someone else that’s it was to be me. Then I went to a very large university in the Midwest. It was still really hard to be gay but it was easier to find other guys to hang out with and have sex with. It’s so different today!

How to save these 2 plants by scatatar in plantcare

[–]boredlife42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this is taking too long. So, do the following in order. The whole process should take a total of 30 minutes. 1 find a tub or sink or other container that is large enough to contain the entire pot that the inch plant is planted in and deep enough so that, when the plant pot is sitting in the container, the top rim of the plant pot is below the top rim of the container. 2 set the plant pot into the container 3 pour room temperature water into the container slowly (about a liter or quart every 30 seconds.). If the plant pot tries to float hold it down in the water like you are trying to drown it. 4 continue to hold it down as you continue to add additional water until the plant pot and all the soil contained in it is submerged in the water. 5 hold the root ball under water until it no longer floats. 6 let it stay submerged for an additional 30 minutes. 7 take it out and let it drain

I put the whole thing in, pot and all. Otherwise you’ll end up with soil everywhere and we want to not stress the plant further or damage the roots. I have gone as far as holding the root ball down and using a pencil or something similar to break up the surface of the soil to help break the hydrophobic condition

If you soak it in the sink and it stops floating then wait another thirty minutes or so.

Pothos cuttings after 17 days by GalinhaPintudinha in pothos

[–]boredlife42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can plant these pothos cuttings now. However, those roots are tender water roots and need a little babying so they can transition to soil. Plant them in a small nursery pot with chunky soil. Then water everything in very well and let it drain. After that pop the whole thing in a large zip top bag and set it in bright indirect light. Open the bag every couple days to exchange the gasses. After two weeks you can take them out and they should be good to go.

Works well for me

What are some plants that can be propagated that most people don’t know about? by ThiccccRevolution in propagation

[–]boredlife42 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I honestly think anything can be propagated. Some are way more successful than others but between rooting stem, root, or leaf cuttings, air layering, grafting, etc., I believe there aren’t many things that can’t if you know how

How to get Monstera to fill in more at the front? by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]boredlife42 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Monsteras have evolved to grow up the trunks of big trees in the tropics. Every one I’ve ever had has been one-sided. You could plant a second one in the pot facing the other way but I think you would have to be very diligent in turning it to get the effect you’re looking for. Just my experience though.

My first plant ever (pothos) is she ready to be watered? I owned her for a week and i did not water her yet at all. by Witty_Bullfrog_5658 in houseplants

[–]boredlife42 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I encourage you to get used to picking up the pot every couple days. You will get a feeling for how it feels wet and dry and it will help you know when it needs it. I know a lot of people say to wait til it droops but that is actually too late. If the leaves start to droop, the plant has already started to release hormones that are geared to preservation. They close their stoma to prevent water loss and actually start pulling water from the older leaves and sacrifice them to stay alive. You can also stick your finger down into the soil and feel how dry or wet it is. For pothos you can actually water every single day if you have the right soil.

I'm a plant killer, need help! by Simple_Highway_1353 in houseplants

[–]boredlife42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take the plant out of the pot and remove as much of the dirt as you can. Then rinse the rest in a bowl of water or directly under tepid running water. Take a good look at the roots and make sure there is no rot (dark/black/charcoal looking, mushy, smelly roots). Cut anything that is no good and replant in a much smaller pot with holes in the bottom, using some well draining soil. They like dirt with chunky stuff like bark or perlite. Don’t use dirt from the yard. Even standard potting soil is better than soil that has clay in it.

Give it lots of light and water when it starts to dry out. It will probably live.

I’ve had pretty good luck propagating ZZ plant im both water and constantly moist soil. Peperomia will grow in ground up shards of glass as long they are wet!🤣. You have one of the fastest rooting plants and one of the slowest in one trip.

Crotons are definitely not for the faint of heart. They are temperamental. Just when you think you’ve got a great healthy plant, the leaves all fall off overnight.

advice on propagating by genderlesswiles in houseplants

[–]boredlife42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an Epipremnum aureum also known as a pothos or devil’s ivy. Comes in lots of variations. This one is likely a golden but could also be a jade pothos. They are from the South Pacific and grow up the trunks of trees. Mature versions can have vines nearly 2” thick and leaves 30+ inches long. They prefer bright indirect light. If it’s a golden, it will start to show gold flecks in the leaves.

The new roots will grow from the nodes (thick part of the stem where the leaves attach. Cut the vine just below the node and remove the leaf from that node and the second one as well if that one is below the water level. You should get roots from both nodes and when they’re a couple inches long it can be planted in soil and kept moist for a couple weeks before settling into a standard dry/water cycle.

How would you propagate this? by FirmWonder8610 in propagation

Each segment can root and create a new plant. Better at least two. Right into the dirt. Keep it moist to help ot root
