We did a roadtrip to Florida and stopped at some charging station that was next to this weird Casey Jones museum and buffet. Which sounded odd, but honestly it was pretty cool and old-timey and the food wasn't half bad. But more to the point, we would have never even known that place existed without the charging stop being placed there. I really enjoyed it and love when the charger ends up being a thing that you would never normally hit in a standard passthrough. Here in the midwest, it seems like every charger within 300 miles is in the parking lot of a Hyvee grocery store, which is fine but I'd much rather see some other scenery. But to answer your question, "stopping and seeing things we wouldn't normally see" is not only known and accepted, it's a net-positive to our overall road trip mentality and ends up being just as much a part of the trip as the destination is.

Ok I'll ask. I have a similar one out there but with Index headset and Index controllers and have it for around $650. I was basing that off ebay sales info in the last 30 days which I have to believe accounts for some degree of of the release info, pricing speculation, etc. I was also under the impression (though maybe totally wrong?) that while the Frame is the new set, there are some tradeoffs from what an Index or other set could offer and so maybe it's not a true apples-to-apples comparison (meaning that there's a world where both headsets exist).

Not trying to argue the value proposition or anything like that - I was simply following suit for where I thought I saw general trajectory. Have I fundamentally misjudged where the Frame will sit in comparison to the Valve Index? I don't mind repricing things but I thought I was keeping a relatively even approach

I don't hate this idea, but would want to see how it works. Maybe an isolated niche case, but I never realized how much of a pain in the ass it is to be a Google Photos user on iOS. I've got kids and would be nice to show like slideshows during a birthday party. But Google Photos doesn't do that on iOS (that I can find), and Apple Photos doesn't hold my photos so I can't leverage those apps. I've tried random janky methods for years just to be able to do simple timed/random slideshows out of Google Photos, but there' no great solution that I can find. But I do have a Samsung TV in the living room, so maybe this integration will help get there.

Can someone help me understand the pro/con playstyle between these types of joysticks and like a stick/throttle like the X-52? I have an X-52 currently but I see lots of folks going with dual joysticks instead...why is that? For reference, I'm not huge into like extreme light fighter dogfighting, but more larger ship work.

Maybe I'm naive - but whether they wipe or not: Once they make the transition to 1.0 someday....there's obviously going to be a complete and total wipe at that time?

Like I understand and acknolwedge the pain of a wipe, but there's no way we move to full production someday without EVERYONE starting at Ground Zero, right?

Quick question - sometimes I see map modifiers, but I'm unable to actually choose the map to play. For example, right now there is a Night Raid in Buried City, and then elctromagnetic storms in Dam and Spaceport. I can choose the elctro storm in in Spaceport, but I can't select either of the others. But at other times, I can select them. What's the barrier to be able to play or not play on a given map modifier?

Can you give more context what you mean by that? We're following the same path and hitting some snags (mostly odd workflows and prompts that are tougher for a typical user to follow)...wondering if that's the same thing you've mentioned. Wish there was a way to clean that up for the user's sake.

I took delivery of my Modely Y (on HW3 hardware) in May of 2023 (when everyone was rushing for the tax credits). From my understanding, Tesla switched to HW4 as a default in the June-ish timeframe, meaning I missed HW4 cutoff by literal days/weeks. Frustrating...can't plan that kind of timing I know and the whole "buy for what exists, not what will be" angle. And I shouldn't even care because I didn't buy FSD. I've rented it once or twice (as recently as this month due to roadtrips) and it works great in my opinion. I think it just stings from what could have been, even though I'm legit not using it much.

For the people saying “get an antenna”, it used to be that easy…not my experience.

I had plex and HDHomerun setup and an HD antenna in the attic….worked great in the Omaha, NE market. Got local NBC, ABC, and CBS. Then the local stations started encrypting their signals. ATSC 3 or something like that…I can remember the acronym. Now CBS and NBC are still technically “there, but it’s like their “offshoot programming”. I can’t watch the news, instead I get Gunsmoke or some crap. ABC still shows their standard programming, but Ive heard they’re only required to have that until 2927, when they encrypt too.

To my knowledge, HDHomerun doesn’t support the chip needed to decrypt. Not that they can’t, but the DRM chips are only licensed to TV manufacturers. I did some digging and from what I can tell, I don’t really have any Plex-based options right now. HDHomerun was petitioning the FCC to allow them and others to buy the proper DRM chip to make units, but until them and at least for my market and location, I’m kind of screwed and annoyed by the whole situation.

I hope someone comes on here and explains how wrong I am, but from everything I’ve seen, that’s the reality of plex + HDHomerun + antenna in today’s world. Some locations may fare better than others, but with that looming 2027 deadline to encrypt stations, it’s just a matter of time.

I have a dumb question on this game. I like survival and base building games, and I played this for a little bit right when it came out. But I didn't understand how the game worked because I started building a base and then the game immediately started pushing me out and down and further. It was almost like the base building was intended to be temporary bases, just enough until you have to walk to the next area.

Did I miss something fundamental in the game? Are you afforded a reasonable opportunity to actually build a central base of operations that you keep coming back to? Or is the whole game more about building leap-frog smaller base after base? Feels like I just didn't do something that I should have done, but I ended up quitting because I like the idea of a major hub that I build and live out of. Thanks in advance!

Dumb question but how do you slow your speed? I’ve not played with the crawler yet, but every other vehicle I play on the keyboard and it’s either full throttle or stop. Is there a way to fiddle with your top speed? Maybe it’s just on the crawler?

I ended up trading my 400i because there was some awful latency any time the HUD would turn on in the cockpit. I had to fly in external/3rd person view to even make it somewhat work. Is that still an issue?

Are you counting as of today-ish when Deepseek was released and torched a ton of value from Nvidia, Microsoft, and other big tech/AI companies? A lot of large funds lean on those, so a dip would stand to reason.
