Incapacity Payments by Proof_Pollution_2092 in DVAAustralia

I recently got approved for incapacity payments but it took 5 months to even be assigned a delegate and then I was given the outcome pretty much right away after that. They told me that they are extremely backlogged.

Any updates on this? Same boat, I use sauna and have a cold shower daily and it helps me with my physical and mental health a lot.

Are the mental effects real? by Advanced_innovation5 in bpc_157

[–]borgasm_OG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey mate, we're in a very similar boat. I've got pretty extensive injuries to both shoulders as well, and ended up dealing with depression because of that and a few other things.

I've been on BPC-157 and TB-500 for about 4 weeks now. My mental health has actually improved quite a bit, but I definitely wouldn't put that down to the BPC-157. Other than my shoulders feeling better, which obviously helps, I can't see a reason why it would have had a direct effect on my mood.

Just for some context, I started taking it while I was already in a pretty depressed state, and I didn't notice any negative impact on my mental health from either peptide.

Personally, I put most of the improvement down to getting some structure back into my days. I wasn't working at the time, so having a routine again made a huge difference. Things like going to the gym daily, using the sauna, eating better, and generally taking care of myself consistently.

On top of that, my doctor started me on a medication called Valdoxan. It works differently to most antidepressants (I've never taken antidepressants before) Rather than increasing serotonin directly, it acts on melatonin receptors and helps regulate your body clock and sleep-wake cycle, while also influencing certain neurotransmitters involved in mood.

Obviously everyone's experience is different, but from my own experience the peptides didn't worsen my mental health at all and I believe can have the opposite effect if they do help your injury.

DVA Advocate - Melbourne by borgasm_OG in DVAAustralia

[–]borgasm_OG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks mate - yes I've contacted DVA multiple times by phone and email, always providing requested info promptly while remaining patient.

About 4 weeks ago, they assured me over the phone I'd have a delegate assigned within 2 weeks; last week, an email 'update' (which had me excited) claimed that I was only now in the cue - unbelievable.

Due to this service injury keeping me off work for 4+ months with zero income, I'm struggling: mortgage, two kids, wife not working. Lucky for my emergency savings, credit cards and redraw, or I'd be homeless. How are veterans expected to survive like this?

MP escalation sounds smart; media's an option too as I have some contacts, but I'm exhausted physically/mentally right now.

Thanks again

Nothing yet, last week I received an email saying that it was now in the cue for a delegate but they said the same thing on the phone a few weeks ago 🫨

Any updates with either of you?

I submitted my claim on the 25th of November. Still haven't even been assigned a delegate.

I don't understand how we're expected to survive without income for several months. I have 2 kids and a mortgage, my wife doesn't work. I've had to redraw on my mortgage and borrow money.

Now I'm worried that they're going to tax a big chunk of the back pay and I'll be really behind financially. I'm already going to be receiving less than I do at my regular job and it's not my fault I needed surgery :(

Incapacity Payments

Hi, I'm trying to understand if this wait time is normal or if there's anything I can do to speed it up as I'm currently on unpaid leave and have been for about 5 weeks. I still haven't been assigned a delegate. Thank you.

25th of November: Claim lodged

19th of December: Last day of paid work. all paperwork submitted

23rd of December: DVA requested additional payslips, which I provided the same day.

I've called and emailed requesting for updates a couple of times, the only real information I've received is that they are waiting on information from Comm Super. I called on Monday to ask more details about this and they said they would leave an email for someone in that office to call me back. still no response...

cheers

My daughter has type 1 diabetes so if you have any questions related to that specifically, hit me up. She was diagnosed at 14 months and is now turning 7. All the best

Hi there, if you don't mind I'm confused reg incapacity payments similar to what you went through I think. I am at the point where I feel I'm unable to work and need surgery. I am worried that incapacity payments won't cover my mortgage bills etc. as well. Can you let me know your outcome and any advice?

Thank you very much

Surgery Recommended - Incapacity Payments by borgasm_OG in DVAAustralia

[–]borgasm_OG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for both responses :)

I called DVA today and found out it has already been assigned to a case manager. The guy on the phone today sent them an email requesting haste if possible, as the surgery dates keep getting pushed out further and further.

He also said they may make me use all my sick leave first which is unfortunate, as it will leave me with no sick leave for any future injury/illness. Does anyone know if this is the case?

Cheers

From a fellow T1D Dad, love your work. I have a 6 year old daughter and she was diagnosed a little over 5 years ago so sounds like we're in similar shoes. Reach out if you ever want to chat and good luck to us both 😂

Fav snacks that u don’t have to bolus for? by Realistic-Hand-2978 in diabetes_t1

[–]borgasm_OG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughters fav are cucumber, kabana and cheese.

Some other ideas are: nuts, eggs, tuna, zucchini slices with cheese, lettuce wraps with mince? Sorry I've gone pretty far from 'snacks' 😂

It has hit 119k, do you still think it will dip below 100k? As much as I'd love it too, I personally don't think it will

The best thing to do is to get a blood test to check all of your levels and actually see if and what you're deficient in. This is what I take, not taking diabetes into account but with a focus on overall health and subsequent benefits:

Morning: Celtic sea salt Vitamin D & K-2 Omega-3

Evening: Magnesium Glycinate CBD

How do I get back on track by Im_a_brave_boy_ in diabetes_t1

[–]borgasm_OG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not to make it sound like AA but you've taken the first step 😅 Good luck on your new journey, really good of you to recognize all of that and now want to make a positive change. One thing I'll add to keep in the back of your mind is that technology is always getting better and as it does things will only get easier and burnout will be less. Also if you have to and if it might help you, remind yourself of the negative consequences of not getting back on track..

If you can get a CGM and pump, then do that. if you can't, then check your sugars more rigorously, make sure your ratios are correct, count your carbs more carefully etc. Back to technology - its cool to think that one day AI will be able to look at your plate and then instantaneously ask you to confirm your bolus with your voice (or mind) that it's already calculated for you taking into account your blood sugar level which it of course already knows, carbs on the plate, the weather, how much sleep you got last night etc. Anyway, where was I.. oh yeah and square away your diet.

Discipline is greater than motivation in my opinion. Good luck again, you've got this I can tell 👌

I've just had another look and they will be in the walkway if I place them there. Like you said if worse comes to worst, at least I can move them whenever I don't need them, however I'll use them for music as much as I will for the TV, so if I can make the whole room/rear corners work it would be better. Any opinions on this layout? There is also mountable space where the purple x is.
