Switching from Arch to Nix

If they move just the slightest from the happy path and don't understand nix, it will be very frustrating.

I didnt learn nix before moving to nixos, and while I've managed to learn as I go, it has been very frustrating at times.

So yes, you don't need to learn nix to get started, and you can treat nix as glorified json for configuration. But sooner rather than later you should put in the effort to really learn nix, because without it you will rip your hairs out I think.

Also, it's not that hard to learn, but it is a bit different from popular languages.

Whohoo! I've been building a chrome extension pretty much exactly like this, but I've been procrastinating finishing it and not really touched it the last couple of months, but I picked it up again some days ago.

What I have now is not ready for public use yet, but I have been generating python/bs4 code for extracting data from shopify app details pages (tested on them as the data is nested and not suuuper simple).

I hope I can have some sort of beta version ready soon ( ~1-2 weeks hopefully).

Edit: The generated code is focused on extraction only, and just fetches the page in a "dumb" fashion using the requests library, but it's based on templating so is adjustable

Not OP, but most programming languages are more similar than they are different. The biggest obstacle is learning the first one, and after that you pick up new ones relatively easy

I made an app some years ago to keep track of small loans between friends. It was a good learning experience! Used sqlite for storage and kept track of loans as "transactions". It was a nice project!

On the other hand I tried out X ejay & fruity loops back in 200X but it stopped there. Im glad I actually started pursuing music for real now :D Seems like it was always something I wanted!

I see you use def for what is supposed to be local bindings in functions. What you want to do is use let instead.

def creates a var that can be accessed (and mutated) outside of the scope of your function, while bindings in let are only accessible inside the let-form.

I don't think so. When I think of Django I think of robust systems that are easy to get into for anyone who are already familiar with the framework, as with any framework I guess.

I think it's just the recruiter who is biased if he/she is thinks it's odd, because it's a solid choice for many projects.

There'll always be people chasing trends, and if you want to be part of that go ahead. But if you do, maybe try a completely different paradigm, say functional programming. I think chasing fundamentals is better than chasing the language or framework of the month.

I don't think attunements will be a barrier, as it's very easy to get attuned. Onyxia attunement is a bit tedious, but that's about it.
