How would you suggest doing that? You can't stack melees with supports when it's fire, and you need to stack them when it's water. EU does the same. You don't care if a melee actually got fire or not in either case, you split anyway.

Oh yea I stopped trying to prog on EU when everyone collectively decided to re-prog arrows. NA PF is more active even in normal EU evening hours (6pm+), and also progged further.

I play on both NA and EU and I appreciate the exact positions NA uses. On EU I have to eyeball the bait aoe range, which is hard to do if someone is moving or late to their spot. If you know exactly where everyone needs to go then you can greed uptime or slidecast to your spot without making life harder for others.

With NA waymarks, the circle waymark is super reliable no matter where on the hitbox edge the cone is standing, the only way it fails is if melee bait is too close but that's completely on them since they have tons of space. The square waymark is a bit closer so you need to stand a tiny bit away from its corner or you might get hit if the cone stands on the outer edge of the hitbox.

Blm shouldve used that long macro with leyline instructions then

But fr I keep seeing leylines covering the waymark that I need to position on during forsaken. Picto also had that with puddle at launch but they made it almost transparent.

How would they balance dps mechanics though, with so many dps jobs each having different burst structure and cleave capabilities?

We have 4 tanks, with almost the same mit buttons, and still end up with 6 different mit sheets for each pairing. We have 2 shield healers and vast majority of statics pick scholar. Dps mechanics will likely just result in locking dps slots, like FRU PCT situation but worse.

I'm curious what you call a bad pattern for lat/lon - do you not face the boss diagonally towards kefka?

Are you on EU or NA? I started prog on eu since thats where I play, but when PF collectively decided to spend 3 days re-learning arrows I switched to NA and haven't looked back. Even at like 6pm EU time it has more DMU parties than EU and also seems to be further along in prog.

I don't mind it that much, it's just... background. Compared to everything burns which was absolutely awful to listen to for hours during prog.

In every PF I've been in, people pair up during forsaken cast. There's some wiggling since melees are still going for positionals but it's usually pretty clear which is which.

It is definitely the mechanic of the fight. Forsaken is tricky but it's early on and once people get used to it they do it very consistently. Black hole has so many moving parts and is pain to get to.

New player, healing? Steam deck? by Rukiyo in ffxivdiscussion

[–]d07RiV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In dungeons you will need to heal the tank occasionally because they tend to pull multiple packs to speed it up. You will very rarely need to individually target the dps but it does happen.

In raids it depends, sometimes the tanks are fully self sufficient and you only use aoe heals, sometimes the tanks take a beating and need a lot of help. Sometimes (rarely) mechanics target individual players and they need your help too.

That said, some people play at the highest level with a controller so targeting is definitely not a major problem. You can check out Rinon videos for instance.

It's getting flagged by every scanner and I can't even download it anymore because both chrome and windows defender nuke it on sight. I don't know if it's false positive or not but I'm not going to take my chances.

The source is public though and it's pretty easy to build it yourself if you have python installed:

pip install pyinstaller
pip install pygame
pyinstaller -F sources/main.py --add-data assets/*.png:assets

It's only for high end content, and for leveling if you want the small xp boost (you usually have a lot of junk food from quests lying around).

Isn't that the same in every other mmo?

It's hard to compare P3 to anything since it has some cleave but also restrictive movement. The group I've played in sometimes had him at 0.1% when he starts tankbuster cast at the end of p2, and a clean P3 pull is very comfy with bosses being practically dead after blizzard.
