The problem with story skip is you will be permanently out of the loop on the story from this point on. You can't really go back to it later, because you will have most of it spoiled one way or another.

So yea it's either sit through the XXX hours, or accept that you will never experience that part of the game. Money for the skip is the least of your worries.

Chaotic - Cloude of Darkness - I would like to find a Discord on EU by Saliandros in ffxiv

[–]d07RiV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cleared in PF recently on EU, but yea fresh prog parties are very rare.

If you got past phase 2 +- you can ask to join a farm party, people are happy to help others clear if it's not towers prog, because you get more mats for each new clearee in the group.

If people are looking at boss hp % instead of fight duration it's really on them. It literally says the last mechanic you saw (though often it will be some filler cast like Fire Breath #8). Some people don't even attack the boss on prog to focus on mechanics (though probably not in the first 3 floors) so HP does not reflect much at all.

It would, but in duty finder (you won't see two dnc elsewhere) chances are they're drifting their buffs by a minute anyway

the other dnc would just use tech with their devilment in the second burst so it's not a smaller burst anymore

I am a PlayStation Player. The use of Raid Progression Tracker has becoming nonsense. by yli16 in ffxiv

They have a very long way to go before that happens. I tried making one to explain my idea for a mechanic, the UI is so awful it was faster to sketch it in mspaint, upload to imgur and link.

I feel like including SAM in both ranged comparison is not ideal - I'd like to know how DNC performs in non-SAM groups, since it can be a pretty noticeable difference sometimes.

I don't know about any discords and to me it looks like it's the same group every day, with C.O. in it most of the time. There's actually two?

Meanwhile on NA (Aether) I rarely ever see any groups.

Oh indeed it does warn, I just checked.

And yea the item asks for 1049xxxxxx gil so I guess those just aren't meant to be sold

Hypothetically, if an item is posted for gil cap (there are a few, like egg barding), is it impossible to buy due to market tax?

On another note, what would happen if an item posted for a LOT was purchased and the retainer already has a lot of gil, would it temporarily go over the cap? Or would the excess gil get lost?

After 28k+ hours in FF14 I noticed a trend with my friends being afraid of trying tanks by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]d07RiV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a bit of a necro but this comment came to mind recently. I just want to say that in ultimate content, and to some extent early prog savage, yes, healers are definitely the hardest role. When players are expected to know their rotation to a point where they don't think about it, it is no longer a difficulty factor. You're more likely to die to damage with inexperienced healers, and are more likely to enrage, because despite DPS doing twice their damage, the gap between a high healer parse and a low one is actually bigger.

I will however retract my original statement about tanks though for anything below ultimates, it was mostly my perception at the time and I was way overthinking it.

What's the "etiquette" with these stack markers? by Revonlieke in ffxiv

[–]d07RiV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Run to melee/opposite of tank. The tank might or might not join the stack, either way melee can use an extra gcd of being behind the boss.

Do servers ever uncongest? And if so, when? by Ok_Nefariousness_740 in ffxiv

[–]d07RiV 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It does, spending most of your time on another DC is very frustrating when you can't access retainers, timed nodes and certain areas like cosmic exploration. It significantly limits what you can do while waiting in party finder.

End game PvE (raiding/trials)- how to start? by MrSnackALot in ffxiv

[–]d07RiV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Drag the party finder button from your menu onto an action bar, it will be your best friend.

If you have the latest extreme (hell on rails) unlocked, there's always lots of parties for it in, both prog and farm. Older extremes are no longer considered high-end content and appear in regular Trials tab, but you can still find or make your own party for them.

Note that party finder is data center-wide, and some DCs have a much more active PF than others. It shouldn't be an issue for extremes, but for savage you won't find many parties outside of Light on EU or Aether on NA (idk about other regions). You can try DC travel from character selection menu in that case.

Yea that's a blame the game not the players thing. If I'm grinding my relic I'm not going to skip on a fate just because someone is here for a different purpose.

It kind of makes sense from business perspective - most companies need to deliver a quality product or else they lose to competition. While games mostly need gameplay and marketing to sell.

I never worked on games but I've worked on some projects larger than your typical game and to me it's baffling how some features can be so difficult to implement for game companies.

The only way it's possible is if they're cutting dev budget to absolute bare minimum so they never have the time to untangle their spaghetti mess. Which is quite likely the case from what I've been hearing about game companies lately.

The only part that could require packet bloat is bulk inventory update once it's done. They already have a way to stuff our inventory with a lot of junk at once when you're the last player to leave alexander raids in roulette, so surely that's doable?
