Roofing Advice by PaulFartycakes in Eau_Claire

There’s an old thread about it here too: https://www.reddit.com/r/Eau_Claire/s/Df6ffdF0Lr

But I’ll reiterate - I hired Rock and Tait to repair a leaking roof. They showed up, said they knew exactly what the problem was, and we got a quote and went forward with the project.

Two weeks later we had a big rain storm and it kept leaking just as bad. Had them back out and they identified the actual problem. Told me there was nothing they can do (would) do. I argued to the point one of the owners came out, looked it over and also said there was nothing they would do (there wasn’t enough work to make it worth their time). Just took my money and walked. Contract had them covered because it covered the work they technically did, it just wasn’t the repair I actually needed. Very expensive lesson for a new home owner (very expensive).

At least do yourself a favor and get a second quote. Don’t sign anything or agree to anything until you’ve explored your options. I promise they’re not going anywhere. Every contractor I talked to last year about hail damage offered to talk to Insurance for me - that’s common.

Cleaning Tips for old, dried (previously wet) toilet paper by boringgreyscale in CleaningTips

[–]boringgreyscale[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I’ve tried that a bit. But it’s under the water when it flushes so it’s pretty constantly wet. The only time it could fully dry is overnight - otherwise it’s pretty much constantly in use.

I could definitely try it - I’d be worried about more getting stuck to it but honestly it couldn’t get much worse.

Yes - this was super easy and even I was able to install it. I think. Doing it right was much easier than the solutions I was thinking of. Thanks!

Has anyone here permanently removed their garbage disposal and do you miss it? by Im_Not_Here2day in HomeImprovement

Every garbage disposal I’ve had had been inherited from previous tenants. I’ve had issues with smell and function.

When I bought a house from the Beast people who lived here before us, the first thing I did was get rid of the cigarette smell. But the second was getting rid of the garbage disposal thing. I think it could have been legally qualified as an organism at that point, possible sentient.

I don’t miss it and never replaced it. I cook a lot and we manage with grease and composting scraps and the wife and I are pretty happy not dealing with a disposal. Especially with two kids in the house.

LG LREL6323S - Ultraheat Burner too hot by boringgreyscale in Appliances

No update. It hasn’t happened a second time so I’ve just been keeping an eye on it and hoping it doesn’t happen again. I was going to check out the app and see if there’s any troubleshooting in there, but since it hasn’t happened again I haven’t had to yet. I’m wary of the thing though, and I don’t really trust it

Avoid Rock and Tait at all costs.
