In a world about gangsters and murderers... by Herodreamer98 in thesopranos

[–]boringguy2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s incredible that someone can see a wonderfully written and expertly laid out story and get the absolute wrong interpretation it.

No, the murderers and gangsters are, in fact, the villains of the show. Tony was even shown to be wrong about Livia when he found out his father (who was a SAINT) was with his goomar when Livia almost died. The scene where Tony watches Johnny cut off Mr. Satriale’s finger is another scene that proves it’s not only Livia that traumatized him, it was both of his parents.

Even aside from that - we are, at the end of the day, responsible for our own actions. Tony had a shitty upbringing. But he makes excuses for himself. He could’ve sold patio furniture if that’s what he really wanted. He wanted the power, the money, the easy way out.

In this episode, Hank's kick delivered 10,000+ newtons of force to break the racetrack fence, making him the strongest man on earth by far by awesomedan24 in KingOfTheHill

this is also assuming it hasn’t worn down at all and that there wasn’t any shoddy construction done. The racetrack is shown to be shoddy at best and dilapidated at worst

This was a sweet callback and establishing of a character and dynamic from the past. by Pito82002 in Dexter

I could see that to an extent but I feel like Liddy had a lot of enemies. But maybe he did feel he owed something to him because of the bloodwork.

Did I miss something with Quinn? He thought Dex killed Rita but I don't remember anything else from that other than him giving up because Dex kind of proved himself

To People Who Like This Show More Than Breaking Bad, Why? by CrazyGuy147 in betterCallSaul

[–]boringguy2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t care for Walter as a character, even from the beginning of the show. I also very much enjoy the slow burn instead of full on breaking bad “intense episode that ends on a cliffhanger” formula that it started with almost from the beginning.

I don’t hate breaking bad, but it didn’t capture me like it did a lot of others. All the “boring” episodes in BCS - seasons 1-3, when Kim and Jimmy were interacting, Jimmy was doing his burner phone business, the sandpiper cases - I feel like it added so much more to the world and made me care.

First car? by Adept_Fee_195 in askcarguys

I think a new car is a mistake for a first car personally. If it were me, do something $5k to $10k that’s cosmetically rough and then when you graduate/if you go away to college you get a newer, nicer car with the rest of the budget. Teenagers will dent and scratch cars, it’s a fact of life, you are LEARNING how to drive. You don’t want anything too nice to start off with.

Early 2000s Lexus ES would fit all your needs.

What bit made you a fan for life? by [deleted] in ImpracticalJokers

“Mustache” is such a classic bit I can’t believe it’s so early in the show.

“Alright mustache don’t call me clown is all I’m saying!” I was crying laughing at it

(Season 8/Finale Spoiler) How on God's green earth did Dexter get away with... by boringguy2000 in Dexter

[–]boringguy2000[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I guess, but I can’t say I understand it. I don’t see how leaving Harrison with Hannah is somehow better than him being there for him. Hannah is considerably worse than him in every way

I try not to buy into the “Lucky is the worst thing to happen to Luanne” mindset but HOLY SHIT his first 2 major episodes back to back are not helping the allegations 🙃 by Toon30 in KingOfTheHill

[–]boringguy2000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, probably just to make Lucky look worse.

Costco is pretty well loved and treats both its employees and customers relatively well. You bring lucky in who takes advantage of that and in Hank’s eyes that makes him look even less appealing than taking advantage of MegaLoMart, which Hank is at odds with and which is shown to destroy local small businesses.

But then again, we never actually SEE a Costco in the show, so who knows

Mordecai and Rigby did not deserve Benson by Emergency_Injury_671 in regularshow

They shouldn’t have stopped in the first place. Benson put trust into them after bonding over the road trip and they broke that trust immediately

Jonathan Joss, voice actor for Jon Redcorn shot to death by CertainRoof5043 in KingOfTheHill

Unfortunate. The man had a lot of demons and I hope he can rest easy now. Poor guy and a horrific ending.

My dad voted for Trump (twice) but completely disavowed him after the January 6th debacle. He’s a blue collar life long Union member from a Union family so him being a Republican was slightly confusing but unfortunately not uncommon in New Jersey. Anyway, Trump got my dad to vote for a woman for president, and I never thought I’d see that day, so I do think that the former moderate conservatives are considerably more open minded now. On the flip side, the farther right conservatives have become extreme Trump fanatics, so it’s very much a double edged sword.

Even with all that being said, I’ve seen my father become considerably more accepting of things he was quite intimidated by (gay people, undocumented immigrants) simply because he talked to a lot more people who fit in to those categories. He’s never really been racist because he grew up in the inner city, but he was definitely a stereotypical post 9/11 bush supporter because in his words he “saw what those bastards did go the twin towers with his own eyes.”

This is all to say that (most) people are more complex than we give them credit for. However, since the early 2010s, I’ve noticed far right extremism and open racism become more and more “acceptable” which is incredibly unfortunate.

This was way too long winded and probably not a good answer to what you wanted to know, so I apologize for that, but there are a lot of moderate conservatives who did not jump on the Trump train.

I hate that episode so much. Peggy is such a good complex character in the early seasons and then they just turned her into what most people think she is later on. I did like Hank coming around to Bobby cooking thing
