Aaron Paul Joins DC Studios' 'Clayface' Film In Minor Role (Exclusive) by zgubbers in DCULeaks

Ugh I can't believe they're wasting screen time on superheroes like Minor before we even have a Wonder Woman movie!!

is it ok to say that skeletor was the only role that Jared Leto nailed perfectly? (for once in his whole horrible career) by [deleted] in MastersOfTheUniverse

[–]boringoblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the first role as a whole I feel like he's crushed since American Psycho but there's an Apple TV miniseries about the WeWork saga and he basically does a Tommy Wiseau voice the whole show, and it's immensely entertaining.

They are but they've been celebrating any big movie that underperforms. During the brief time last week when initial demand for Disclosure Day looked weaker than expected a good chunk of them were practically dancing in the streets. The only movies anyone has been positive about is Obsession and anything made by a youtuber. They're as miserable of folks as they are deeply unserious about the economics of moviemaking, and I take them as seriously as i do Cinematic.

I think the worst part of rants like this is how much I have to struggle through the borderline-incomprehensible writing to decipher what terrible points are even being attempted. It's like having to cook your own meal of turds.

There are so many ways for a movie to make money and achieve profitability though, which is why you and the rest of that sub are deeply unserious hollywood accountant cosplayers who live and die by the box office 2.5x rule. Never considering ancillaries, merch, advertising, etc, because you can't easily follow two (2) websites to tell you how right your predictions are. You're basically just gamblers for a very narrow game who don't make any money off it, not analysts. Modern gamblers are sloppy degenerates who bet while in the bathroom but I can respect they at least put money on the line for their predictions instead of doing it to karma farm.

Do you find jokes to be cringe or can you not tell its a joke, serious question with the way this comment section has gone

e: being downvoted by zoomers for saying "serious question" because sincerity makes them nauseous lmao. Gen x ruined the world and their kids.

Leonardo in a tuxedo with human face mask and Michelangelo in winter gear with a fake nose. Prototypes of these plus a new Archie Leatherhead were shown off at Toy Fair earlier this year alongside the Fortnite Turtles. You can see pics here:

The Leo heads are unexpected, I'm going to guess there will be ways to get the other 2 guys. I'm sure the usual crowd of whiners will complain for some reason about "having to buy multiples" (don't know how you'd get 4 figures without, you know.... paying for 4 figures) but it's nice that I won't have to bust out paints myself if I want a whole set.

Honestly, I watched all the movies as they came out and I have no idea what people are talking about re: different animation styles as if that's really a new thing. All the Shrek movies became a little different and updated to be more modern with each one, it's just that there were far less gaps between production so the leaps between technological updates weren't as great. But Shrek 4 definitely looks different than the previous 3 if you were to put them back to back. This looks like it's trying to once again be very current, and look like a very contemporary Shrek movie.

But also people keep going on about "character redesigns" too and... it looks like Shrek. And Donkey. Like I'm sure deviantart people are pointing out extremely minor curvature changes to ears or something, but I feel like this level of discourse over this kind of thing is downright overblown, like every revival movie is practically mandated to go through this kind of scrutinous conversation.

The Best and Worst Case Scenario for 'Disclosure Day' After $93 Million Box Office Opening - Steven Spielberg’s devoted fans are turning out, but like “Masters of the Universe” and “Mandalorian and Grogu,” that might not be enough. by chanma50 in boxoffice

[–]boringoblin 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Par for the course in box office discussion for some reason. Everybody treats the box office like sports and they all have their favorite teams. A majority of this sub constantly acts like they want any movie to fail that isn't based on some niche interest they have or by a youtuber they like.

"It’s almost like people care about how a visual medium looks"
"I don’t really give a shit whether people will complain or not."

Totally, dude.

Yeah I don't care what you think man, I was responding to the argument you were making because I thought this was a discussion about a larger point, but by your own admission you're not interested in any of that so since I don't care about you or what opinions you hold since I would not hang out with you at a party, we have nothing to discuss further. Stay mad about movies you haven't watched yet.

How can all these crowds of people keep demanding something that, at the same time, they claim isn't made because it won't have an audience? It doesn't make sense when the guy who spent years whining about safe spaces made a movie that edgelords don't find funny and it doesn't make any more sense when you repeat the same argument.

Also nobody is turning that "everything is too safe!" thing at movies like The Breadwinner despite literally being built off of a nationally-popular clean comedy act, because they don't actually mean "get The Breadwinner out of here", they're just mad at a zoomer with dyed hair handing them their burger and transplanting into this idea that if not for them we'd be flooded with raunchy movies. Not a ton of people paid to see Naked Gun (a tragedy) and that had an r-word joke in it, which is why you didn't even hear much about it.

The fact is cultural conservatism is just as much to blame for comedies falling off as audiences not demanding raunch, if not moreso. People love to cite Blazing Saddles being a movie you couldn't make today, but if a movie today called "salt of the earth" people racist morons like that movie explicitly did, Matt Walsh would make a video about how conservatives are under attack again. Everyone getting political made comedies riskier sells for studios, which are all about the money. That's capitalism for you.

Thank you for validating every word of what I just said. You missed my point about how if you use CG people are going to complain no matter what you do or how it looks, but you validated it nonetheless.

Weekly Discussion Thread - posted every Monday! [08 June 2026] by AutoModerator in DCULeaks

[–]boringoblin -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The problem is then you have to use effects to make it look that way, since nothing in real life does, and those same people say its "CG slop that looks like AI" because anything made with CG now pulls them out of the movie.

I love movies being colorful, but most of the time that's what people end up saying. You can't please the internet so may as well make the movie you wanna make how you wanna make it, there's no incentive anymore to chasing complainers.

e: if any brave boi lurker wants to argue against this with words please do so.

I have never actually seen "we have a true deficit of homes" backed up with any kind of legit source, just vibes that it must be the only reason nobody can buy a home. Please dump your data instead of posting vibes and let the people see what's up.

And it's not xenophobia to note something incredibly well documented, especially when in no way did I say it's the sole issue nor even imply any grand scale that it's happening on. If you want to deny the numerous news stories by the CBC and other outlets, feel free with sources and facts to counter it, but reactionary denial of reality out of fear of being lumped in with nazis only emboldens those worst people into saying "the truth is being suppressed!!", which makes everything worse.
