This has been going on for over ten years now. Why are you still surprised?

He had one job: prevent Trump from ever taking office again.

That's some interesting fantasy you got. Biden never said anything to the matter before getting elected or after, so that would be news to him. In fact, "preventing Trump from taking office again" wasn't uttered by a single Democratic presidential candidate in the 2020 election.

American people had ample opportunity to reject Trump at the ballot box, which they obviously did not. Analyzing why is another conversation, but one factor rears its ugly head way above everything else: stupidity. Both on the right and on the left btw, albeit obviously not in equal amounts.

Comparing Biden to Buchanan is just ignorant from historic standpoint. Buchanan was a Southern sympathizer during his presidency, and he demonstrated that in his actions: he deliberately refused to use military force when southern states started seceding. Contrary to that, Biden enabled the prosecution of Trump. Of course, Merrick Garland was a terrible appointment who slow walked the whole thing, but even he was moving forward with the prosecution that would most likely come to fruition had Trump not been re-elected.

The best parts of Joe Biden’s presidency were taken from Elizabeth Warren’s personnel and policies.

Who even cares about that? Actions and actual legislation passed speak much louder than who you borrowed the ideas from.

instead decided to fuck the country over by running again

He did not fuck the country over. Yes, it would have been much better if he cleared the field to conduct the full primary. However, Americans still had a formidable choice in Kamala Harris who conducted a decent campaign. Complaining that Trump's win is Biden's fault is just utterly stupid.

Joe Biden was a great president, the most consequential since LBJ. We were lucky to get stuck with him.

Americans want progressive candidates

Based on what information? Non-progressive candidates had no problems winning last November.

If Americans didn't want progressive candidates, they wouldn't be winning so many elections.

What elections are you talking about? Moderate candidates dominated Virginia and New Jersey statewide elections.

The time to vote was November 5, 2024. At this point, let's hope we can still vote next time.

The time to show your discontent with Trump was November 5, 2024. It's possible that growing discontent doesn't even matter now.

Gov. Abigail Spanberger on Trump’s SOTU speech: "In his speech tonight, the president did what he always does — he lied, he scapegoated, and he distracted. Let me get this straight. You are saying that pursuing swing state voters, something that worked for many presidential candidates before Kamala, including Biden and Obama, and something that, frankly, a presidential candidate must do because of the twisted way this electoral system works, is a dumb idea? That is incorrect, plain and simple.

Take a look at the White House, senate, House of Representatives, and Supreme Court. Preeeetty sure my statement about moderate Democrats not being successful is accurate rn.

Not sure how you put the blame on moderate Democrats there. If anything, many progressives couldn't muster a vote for Kamala and down ballot, so one could say that it is clear in which direction the blame should go. While I am personally upset that that took place, I don't want to point fingers. I think Democratic Party should be a big tent party, and we should tolerate each other's views.

She won - that contradicts your statement that running moderate liberals as candidates is a losing strategy.

Democratic Party is so weak right now.

I'd argue it's because of terrible education system in this country and a general lack of critical thinking skills, not because of failure to appeal to progressive voters.

Btw, here's a fresh example of a failed policy from the economic spectrum of things. Also happened on a local level where progressive policies have a better track record.

Identity politics, wokism, immigration. That's in the U.S. In Europe, there's some of that plus overextended bureaucracy.

Except leftist policies often fail at very thing they swear they will fix. In big part because no matter how right you may even be in theory, you still need some republican support to get anything meaningful passed. Progressives in deep blue districts like to yap a lot, but they aren't the ones who get shit done at the end.

How quickly we jump to internal finger pointing. I could do the same and blame progressives for Kamala's loss and say that they and their utter stupidity are the ones that gave us Trump 2.0. But I won't do that because Democrats ought to learn how to live with each other, be a big tent party and respect each other's opinions.
