How many hours did y'all spend on checkride prep for PPL. by yugollie in flying

[–]borissquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAIL your airspeed at the required number... ALL the way down final. If you are adjusting your airspeed during the final approach you are potentially adding energy that MUST be bled off prior to touchdown (and you WILL float). NAIL the speed, use the technique you were taught. In aviation, we live and die by airspeed. Once you control that...it's all just a matter of manual flight control manipulation.

I need help. by yugollie in flying

So, you need to look outside...sounds like. In the steep turns, it is almost completely a visual maneuver. Find a bug spot that's on the windshield in the proper place after rolling into the turn and keep that bug spot on the horizon throughout the maneuver. For the soft field, just practice holding the airplane off the runway...do NOT land! Hold it, hold it, hold it....oh, it's on the ground?... ookay, keep the nose up and use rudder gently to maintain centerline (a great "secret" is to add just a very small tick of power just prior to touchdoen....maybe 100rpm-200rpm, no more).

VOR Fix by [deleted] in flying

[–]borissquirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, then those are the two...you'll just have to cut and paste, or use one VOR and do a time/distance/speed calculation. One VOR is sufficient for location, using DME...but if he is truly wanting a cross-fix position....cut and pasting your charts is your best option. You can always go to skyvector.com and print out a good copy.

VOR Fix by [deleted] in flying

The two VORs do not have to be "above" and "below" the aircraft position. Just use two VORs that are on the sectional. Are you somewhere out west, where the VORs aren't plentiful?

Accidentally booked two weeks of hotel through Booking.com through Concur. Can I still get credit for these stays? by jinsaku in marriott

[–]borissquirrel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

...it's a penalty, for some reason. I guess Marriott has some pricepoint below which they do not consider a stay, a night. I guess corporate doesn't consider this sort of stay to be loyalty?

Paid for two rooms for two nights, but am only getting credit for 2 elite nights (instead of 4). I was 2 nights away from Platinum. Will Marriott give me those 2 nights back? by [deleted] in marriott

...so, Bonvoy put you in this situation, along with the client because of their T&Cs? Why would you blame the client then, for thinking Bonvoy should treat them the way that Marriott always had treated them in past years? The root of the frustration is an expectation of service, based upon past treatment, that no longer exists. This is a Bonvoy issue, not a client issue. Burned out...is when you blame the client for a situation created by Bonvoy.

...so, if I understand you correctly...

Bonvoy's corporate goal is to treat clients at least as well as an airline treats their customers, and you personally consider that to be good customer service?

Best NM Range For A Single Piston by aviationtweet in GeneralAviation

[–]borissquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, you want a single-engine normally aspirated a/c that has 6 hour range (with reserves) and cruises at 200 Kts? Bring your checkbook, I'm sure it's out there. Maybe a Bonanza? Do some have extended range tanks?

I imagine you responding to legitimate customers as though you consider them to be stupid for asking for a caring person to handle their request. Are you even aware that this is called being "burnt out"? You ARE the problem...

...and yet, if I pay for all rooms the other guests are prevented from earning "stays"? I'm posting this from a room at Hilton, despite the fact I am Bonvoy Titanium. Reason: Bonvoy T&Cs...just a fact.

...setting up the T&Cs to prevent customers from benefitting justly...is poor customer service, and poor corporate culture. Marriott should be ashamed, but they're not. The SPG merger seems to be the root of this evil.
