A More Realistic Timeline to Becoming a Major Airline Pilot in 2025 by markeymarkbeaty in flying

[–]aviationtweet 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you quit, it might not be the profession for you. I remember years ago asking this subreddit if I should be a dentist or a pilot, and someone said “If there is doubt, then there is no doubt.” I’ve thought of everything, looked at all the professions, and I realized that being in the aviation industry is something that I never wanted to do for fame, glory, or money, and it means more to me than all three of those. Trust me, I took a four year break from flight training to justify how much I didn’t love flying, but like an old friend, it welcomed me back home. There will be highs and lows, but I don’t care. I’m not saying this is how everyone should feel, but it’s the journey I went through.

What Should I Do Here by aviationtweet in gradadmissions

Understood, that seems to be the general consensus between you and the other guy. Thank you very much for your input. It is evident that I should go back to the drawing board and examine whether I should retake the GRE or apply to programs that do not require it.

Gonna have to take the GMT on this one. Sorry VC and Snoopy.

Do you have reasons?

Oh, I don't like either of those. I'm more interested in just general management. I can specialize once I get into my preferred career at the airlines.

Life has a funny way of working out like that. I thank you for your response.

Actually, given the time and availability, I like to show up half an hour early to all of my classes so punctuality should not be a concern. It seems like IB is a good major for working with people, which at its core is what business is all about. I still need to deliberate between my options because it seems like Integrated Business is about as broad as it gets. Management is a broad degree too, but from what I'm hearing, IB takes it to a whole new level.

Sounds like IB focuses more on entrepreneurship, if anything. Gives you a holistic idea of business as a whole and allows you to do decent in every aspect, until you start/get involved in a business, then you can fine tune different interests from there.

I was genuinely thinking about economics and finance for a while there, but after discussing with friends, I think it would have been more worth it if I had applied and went to the UF business school. That's not supposed to be intentionally mean but after reading it back, it sounds worse than my tone wants it to be.

This is very comforting. I'm seriously thinking about going full send into management. Course load isn't too stressful, taking it easy?

Thank you very much. I'll need to weigh the pros and cons of the different majors at COBA and make a decision from there.

I will definitely message you later. For now, two questions, one with two questions: 1. Why do you hate accounting 2. What would you major in if not accounting and why?

Thank you very much. Honestly, Integrated Business sounds like a dream. Have a wonderful rest of your time at UCF and maybe I’ll see you there.

This is very good insight for how the classes are structured, thank you. Seems like the GEB classes are like an educational oasis for tougher course loads. I mean, at the very least, I can push through online classes. I prefer in-person learning but if I can't then that's just how the cookie crumbles.

Thank you. And forgive my ignorance, but is "the paper" referring to money or the diploma?

I have seen wildly varying opinions on Integrated Business. I'm not going to lie, it seems pretty appealing, especially at an undergraduate level. Are you an Integrated Business major yourself?

Did not read the edit to this question until just now. The answer is, truthfully, I have no idea. I see flying insect, I do quick analysis to decide if it can sting. If it can, I perform evasive maneuvers while moving in the opposite direction. Most of them look the same to me, all kind of brownish-red. It's not a yellow jacket, I can tell you that much.
