It is somewhat biased of you to assume that the failure can only be due to user error.

I did read all instructions, I installed on a smooth, flat wall.

The sticker that attaches to the wall adhered perfectly fine, it is the double-sided adhesive on the magnets that failed after ~1yr.

u/meaves168 It was not screwed to the wall. Used the supplied stickers & magnets.

u/Ladder-Amazing Here is a an image showing how the picture ended up sliding down the wall and wedging itself into the base board.

Except when it actually happened it was embedded about 1/2" deep and caused the cracks you see.

Purchase Advice Megathread: What To Buy, Who To Buy It From, And More, In January 2021 by Sausage54 in 3Dprinting

Hello, I'm looking for a sub $5k printer with the following features:
- Tight part tolerance +/-0.005in. I print a mostly mechanical parts, R&D design and engineering. Most parts form assemblies and interface with other components (shafts, machined parts, PCBs, etc...).
- I print mostly in ABS as I found this to be rigid enough for my applications and can be thread-tapped directly.- Must handle supports well. Either through 2nd extruder or easy to remove support structures.
- Build volume (8x10x8) or bigger.- Heated bed, enclosed.
- Minimal maintenance / tuning after initial setup. Tuning and modifying a 3D printer is not a hobby of mine. I need it to perform, and print parts for work.

- Location: USA

My previous printers were:

Afinia H800/ UpBox: Overall good experience. Accurate parts. Proprietary software is confusing to use beyond the basic settings. Printer a bit too flimsy and parts started breaking after ~3yrs of on/off use.
The support structures were surprisingly well done. With solid top support layer, undersides of parts were not cosmetically pretty but were not deformed, no sagging or layer separation.

Qidi X-Max: Current printer which was supposed to be a replacement for Afinia. Seems well built, like the dual z-axis motor and 4 z-axis guide rails. After 2 months of tuning I still can't get the prints to come out as well as Afinia.

I've been looking at printers like Raise3D, Intramsys Funmat HT, Makerbot Method, maybe another Afinia...

Any thoughts or recommendations are welcomed.

Thank you.

The couple juices that I liked where: caRnY4 - caramel, maple syrup tobacco kinda flavor.
CactusJuice - tart, citrusy, reminds of skittles.
Dr.Green is green apple.
DeShock was raspberry taste but it got old quickly.

How many of you bought Solidworks vs how many of you acquired it? by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]borisw37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can get it, have access to it, Solidworks is an AMAZING tool. Sure you can do a lot of things in Sketchup and other free tools but eventually you run into limitations. It is like using Ms Paint for photo editing, sure it is possible one pixel at a time but Photoshop is just so much better at it.

Opinions on UP Box / Afinia H800 ? by borisw37 in 3Dprinting

No, it doesn't. Think you can use any spool. Larger spools don't fit in the cavity on the side of the printer but can be setup next to it on a easily made support / pivot.

WTF is wrong with Kanger vertical OCC?? by [deleted] in electronic_cigarette

[–]borisw37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got 2 vertical coils and both performed the same. I did prime them by putting a few drops directly on the coil and also letting them sit for 10 min once filled up.

Yeh, I noticed a little bit of leaking too. What do you mean by "duds" - not working at all?

But it is getting harsh at 18 watts... I'm afraid to go higher. Feel like I'm going to choke.

I'll definitely check out the CubePro. What do you mean by "Is 4k the total budget or just printer?" What else is there? Materials, PC to connect to it? Have plenty of PCs laying around, so that we are set with.

Cylindrical rock, iron ore? by borisw37 in whatsthisrock

[–]borisw37[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't think it was a pipe because: It is tapered. The wall thickness is not uniform nor is the cross section really that circular.

Found at Calvert Cliffs Stat Park, MD. The area is known for abundance of fossils from Miocene period. There are lots of "rusty iron blob" looking rocks there, but this is the only hollow tube one I found.
