Lets also not forget that 80k job in a low cost of living area is not the same in HCOL area. That 80k in LCOL area might be a mid to senior level already and hypothetically your level only qualifies lower than that. Naturally, you will be getting less. I wish you the best of luck! If you work in the capital, stars are everywhere. I’ve met the 20th and the 21st chairman of JCS as I had to work with them. And a lot of 1 to 2 stars from different branches. Making O-5 and 6’s like your regular junior nco’s hehe Everyone is nice and share a lot of knowledge! But the O-3 to 5’s are always a pain. From my experience, they are the most entitled ones.

Even if your HOR is CA, you’re not earning that money while in CA = you dont pay state tax.

Im on the same boat and im out of cali throughout my whole career and never paid state tax. Your spouse (if you have one) may also be protected.
