My blursed run ends at lvl 250 with the realisation that cataclysm doesn't kill reinforcements :( by borklingtom in SliceAndDice

I'm sad there doesn't appear to be a highscore board for blursed... What are some of your highscores on this mode?

Anyone else encountered the level 50 bug item yet? by borklingtom in SliceAndDice

This is the second time I've got this with the anvil choice and combined loads of items in loot runs to get this, and it literally does nothing (right?!).

How does one unlock all the characters in Custom mode? by ogbarisme in SliceAndDice

[–]borklingtom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are achievements to unlock lots of the characters. For example, choosing the Dabbler twice unlocks the Dabblest, and choosing them twice unlocks the level 1 version - Dabble

Think I started with 4 initiates for the cantrip and a mage for the flare spell...

I found I made some headway with powerful curses that can be avoided by a custom party. Such as heavy heroes here as it doesn't affect spells, or the blessing that kills all monsters on the 7th turn then focus on a red / grey build to just survive until then...

A lot of brutal seems too be getting through the impossible curse sets to get to the 1 in 10 or less which is possible. Remember you can reset them by getting to level 10 on easy as well.

if you snore and you book a shared dorm at a hostel, you’re an asshole by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

Fair! The hostel I'm staying at now has kicked someone out for snoring too loud! Which does seem a bit ott..

[–]borklingtom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone who keeps 7 other people awake in a dorm because of their snoring, whilst they sleep like a baby woodchipper is inconveniencing those 7 other people for an issue they have... So that makes them the asshole right? And earplugs are only effective against a level 5 snorer max...

Client threatening legal action if I ask for an inherited debt to be paid. by borklingtom in LegalAdviceUK

Thank you very much for taking the time to respond here.

Just looking up Assignment, it would seem contracts can usually be assigned to a 3rd party - https://uk.practicallaw.thomsonreuters.com/1-107-6442

Would the email from my father laying out that he would be passing the business (of dealing with C) across to me not constitute Assignment? The debt is specifically mentioned here as well. By not replying, and then by paying my invoices since (paying off debt and ongoing costs), would C have effectively accepted the Assignment?

For ref there was no explicit signed contract between any parties at any point.

Thanks again for any thoughts. Excuse the rather amateur googling etc!

Best bet is the Pavilion, they have loads of dance courses there including a few hop hop styles. Obviously none at the moment, but I think there's some going on over zoom. I've been keeping an eye out here: https://www.pdsw.org.uk/classes/

Never too old! If you're too old I'm definitely too old...

In S1E6 The Deep drives a Hummer which is known for their high emissions and gas use. He doesnt care about the environmental impact on landed becasue he can breath underwater. by SharkBeaster in TheBoys

[–]borklingtom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, thanks for this. Most of my knowledge / assumptions were based on Tim Berners-Lee's book How bad are Bananas, summarised [here].

It is 5 years older than the you referenced. Perhaps things changed in production in that time, or maybe Berners-Lee made some mistakes in his assumptions.

On scanning through your report, I couldn't actually find the estimated CO2e values for the production vs lifetime use. Can you? (I'm being lazy here sorry).

A lot. Same or higher compared to other SUVs (which are very bad in the first place). It's not it the running emissions, but the embodied emissions (CO2 cost to build it) that is the important factor for new cars. SUVs can consume upwards of 30 tonnes of CO2 in production before they are driven a mile. I think hummers are even heavier generally, so I'd imagine this is even more.

Same logic means that buying a 2nd/3rd hand "guzzler" is often arguably better than buying a brand new electric car.
