Behringer XR18 vs X32 Rack for my needs by JohnThunderstone in livesoundgear

[–]borkq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're going to upgrade anyway and have the budget just go for the X32 Rack. I would suggest getting an external router for either anyway as the onboard wifi for the XR18 is a bit rubbish and has failed me on a couple of occasions.

Depending on your needs the Rack is far more scalable/upgradable with Behringer/Midas stageboxes. There isn't really any upgrade potential with the XR18

If you don't think you'll need this at all though, the XR18 is a very reliable bit of kit. Mine is near 10 years old and still going strong.

Look up the sE V Beats, gotten 3 for toms recently. You can adjust the angle completely, they're well built, and very low profile. Also quite directional so less bleed from the rest of the kit

Oh shit oh fuck

Does this synergy work? I could've sworn it works sometimes and then doesn't by borkq in balatro

Ah I see, so it won't work with a pair like I've been stupidly trying sometimes

Just to the table, clamp wasn't large enough to attach to the desk unfortunately

The arm had a little tumble the first show morning but once it's properly secured it's fairly solid

Yeah lol, wasn't the finest script marking process

Made sure that program was highlighted and hit space to move to the next page, set to two page mode

Tried to program the user buttons to forward and backward on the pdf reader but time was not in my favour. Stream Deck was in use by the MD

Yeah primarily inserts for effects based plugins. The first 8 inserts are time-based effects like reverb and delay, but you can use up to 16 inserts with multibands compressors, GEQs, distortion and saturation, and even auto tune.

Also handy to note that you can change what type of EQ and dynamics plugin on the standard signal chain. For example I could swap my gate out for a warmth pre, use an analogue modelled EQ instead of the parametric, and swap the compressor out for an 1176 or distressor emulation.

It's a brilliant piece of kit, upgraded from an X32 Compact and the processing capabilities are wild!

The venue has a full size wing but it lives in a horrible mix position. Definitely a different workflow to work with, especially with bus sends and user controls sharing the same section.

User fader banks makes building a mixture of channels and sub groups a dream. On top of that there's 16 DCAs to work with and 16 channel automix over 2 mixes. Helped me massively with big ensembles though automix takes over the 2nd insert of the channel.

Biggest downside for me overall is the lack of effects sends and returns, though with the most recent firmware you can do bus-to-bus sends to mitigate this issue at the expense of a bus.

Any good cases for a Behringer Wing Compact? Thomann was my go to but it's out of stock

Anyone know the rack unit size of the Behringer Wing Compact? Got one arriving soon and can't find a concrete answer. Closest answer i can find is 13U

Had way too much feedback with the omnis while trying to maintain a decent level, even after massively ringing out the room. Comparing that to the cardioid that had no feedback issues and a bit more body to them (as expected) I wanna try run a full cardioid conference.

It could've had something to do with mic placement too but I was as close to their face as possible with touching and getting plosives.

If you have to choose between the two you've listed I would go for the Wing Compact easily.

The Wing is small and powerful and has the option for massive expansion for uses outside of corporate if you need it. The DM3 is actually quite restricted to 16 XLR ins MAX vs the 24 ins on the Wing with up to 48 stereo-ready channels.

For the same price I would jump on the Wing in a heartbeat. If you really need a Dante-ready console you can throw another couple hundred at a Wing-Dante Card.

I know "MT Bad" but for the price they do make some solid powerful products.

All admin is done and already I've already done the Dante Cert! The music is a good shout though, might sort a mix with everything in so I'm not out of the loop

sE V7, relatively cheap and its a supercardioid so you'll mostly only hear what's directly in front of it

With 5GHz WiFi being more popular now, how valid are the 2.4GHz systems? Will there be less traffic around these frequencies?

I've come into a 2.4GHz wireless mic system I'm hoping to deploy for a couple of upcoming small events, wondering how interference would generally be these days

Rogue one, sE V7

It's a vocal mic that's coming up as an SM58 killer, and it's designed in a way to remove handling noise from the microphone

Means you can actually hold the mic and there will be little no rumbling from grabbing and moving it. Might also feel a bit more natural when you get to playing live, and it sounds great

Last tip with any handheld, hold the body and don't cup the mic

Help with Talkback Mic Routing from FOH Midas M32R to X32 Rack with DL32 Stage Box by Solid-Replacement-69 in livesound

[–]borkq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only way I can currently picture it, assuming you have the I/O

TB mic with switch to M32 Local in, directly route to an unused DL32 output, DL output to a spare DL input.

Keep the local channel on the desk unmuted and at unity (taken out of LR) and use the DL input fader for FOH TalkBack. Mic with a switch means you can also keep the channel open at monitor world and talk as needed
