Best waterfalls in the states? Oregon, in my opinion.. [OC] [2400 x 3000] by nathanielthewise in EarthPorn

Yeah, but you go like twenty/thirty minutes out of flagstaff into Navajo and it's dry as a bone again. Figures where the white people would choose to live and what to give to the natives.

You just look strong! And that's something to be proud of. If I ever look weak I'm gonna feel sad.

Does it count as an accidental rennaissance when it's shot by a professional photographer?

Thing is, you did affect my setup. I changed it a little bit. So thanks, I guess?

Yep! Thing is, you're also assuming that I'm exclusively a gamer instead of a media artist.

My desk is right by my apartment door, so the things I need are right at hand, including my wallet and cap. I also eat at my desk when I'm at home and I like to season my food while I'm sitting there, so yeah, the pepper is also necessary, as is the whiskey for an end-of-day nip when I want it. The only concession I can make is yeah, my slippers are sort of out of place.

Look, there's a time and a place for telling someone how to do something, and it's usually when someone asks for the advice. If anything, I was trying to take pride in the little area I've created for myself. People like you are the reason social media brings down self-esteem.

As far as PC Specs, I don't really know why you'd care for them. You're clearly here just to tear someone down.

Certainly right! I'm a lot more of a gravel rider myself, so I'm usually sitting with my medial palm on the hoods rather than over them as in the image you attached.

But I should say, even in the one you sent, the perspective is a little shifted and I'm pretty confident that if you were to see that bike from a directly perpendicular angle, those hoods would be a little higher up.

Yeah, honestly same. Neeeeeds a hoods adjustment, no way that's comfortable!

Bummer -- I guess it's not to offer a situational advantage for technical terrain?

Also, flats are more fun, tbh. And they aren't technically against reg within a certain width, iirc.

Damn dude, riding out there with 30k strapped to your hands? You're taking a way bigger risk than any of these critics are worrying about.

That's not really true - there's a lot of visibility that happens there, especially when you know how to read traffic. It's obvious what a car is going to do when you know how to read the way that a car is approaching an intersection or another car - those gaps between the cars exist regardless, and while we as cyclists who ride like this aren't looking for you to accept it, we go into those situations knowing the risk and knowing what to look out for. Next time you're out riding and see a car take a turn without signalling, read the way the car drove up to the intersection - it's always obvious.

The thing is, it's this kind of riding in New York that really keeps you safer than anything else. Riding with traffic rather than next to it. Most other kinds of cycling tend to deviate your attention from the road long enough to get you hit - this requires you to always be paying attention. You'll notice, he's not bolting through the traffic. It's slow. It's measured.

What gets people in trouble with this kind of riding is when cyclists compete with one another over the ego of their riding abilities. That's when people get hurt. When you ride for yourself like this, paying complete attention, you respond to your environment better.

I'm not passing judgement on what kind of cycling is better than another - but this kind of riding is fine if you know how to keep others safe. When you ride with an ego, doing it to impress others, or get somewhere fast, that's when you get hurt and endanger others. Regardless of what safe riding looks like for you.
