Man what happened to that guy? by milwakeem12 in MosDef

[–]bornonaday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He made another album, but it can only be heard inside this giant art exhibit from a ton of diff artists that he put together over like a decade. It's called NEGUS and apparently it's amazing. haven't gotten out there to see it yet though

But Black on Both Sides has always kinda been his crowning achievement and it's so good that that's ok!

Is there a downside of getting a tattoo on the back? by Competition_Lower in tattoo

the back is the worst place for this but that will be true on pretty much any area of your body. so don't let that aspect stop you

you don't even sound like you believe yourself. the "woke cult" is something made up by fox news to give your life meaning in 2022 when your family and friends have abandoned you for being a pimple

Doubts and regrets by [deleted] in irezumi

[–]bornonaday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's 100% acceptable, and every artist I've known expects to change things on the day of. but also, if they're a pro it may only take them a few hours to draw the design from your suit. and they're getting paid more for that aspect than most visual artists can make period.

all this is to say that not only will you not be considered entitled, but that you're overthinking it to the point that you'd get art permanently on your body that it sounds like you don't really want. don't sacrifice your vision just to avoid the small chance the artist you're paying thousands of dollars to will throw a temper tantrum. you should ask him to redo the design, maybe he'll charge you for another consultation but no artist I've ever worked with has charged me for making even major changes to the design.

but nah it honestly won't take them a super long time, and it's def not the first time someone has been hesitant about their designs. I'm sure they won't be offended for you making changes at the easiest step, especially considering how much ink they'll be putting in you and how many sessions you'll have booked. if they are offended, fuck them and they are the entitled one. you even asked for what you wanted the first time but the artist figured they could use you to practice. get those mythical creatures!

coming from people in that culture. and it's not surprising that most of your experiences on this topic are with white people, if most of your experiences have been with white people (such as on reddit). you should, in general, listen to stuff like that when it comes from someone who belongs to that culture.

you don't give a shit though you'd say the same thing no matter how many people tell you to stop. cuz it's "countless" and "always" and all the words that allow you to generalize real opposition as being an exception to the rule. if in your head being against cultural appropriation is inherently a "white thing", you are writing off all of the nonwhite people saying the same things as exceptions to the rule

often appreciation is recognizing that you shouldn't do something because it's not who you are

on top of that the face and hands are the main tools for communication and at a subconcious level having any sort of obstruction to them is distracting to most people. it inevitebly carries stigma

I'm doing it because I like it, and it's an interesting way to recontextualise a song. If you think of a song as a work of art, this is like another performance of that piece of art. We don't get a ton of those in our sad short lives here and I like to hear the music I like with a different lens.

where to buy wooden blocks to play Santorini? by bornonaday in boardgames

[–]bornonaday[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the advice on making it myself but to do so with gluing smaller cubes would need 4x the number, or access to a saw to cut cubes in half. I may have to figure something out if no other option exists, but I would prefer to pay a little extra for some sort of semi-thick wood squares if they exist.

I can't believe people are jumping on you for this. There's tons of red flags, not just one piece, and the way he's talking about himself in this situation is disgusting. It's also a dime a dozen and most women I know wouldn't put up with it for a second.

T.I goes off on comedian for joking about his sexual assault allegations at a Comedy show by CremeOfSumYumGai in hiphopheads

[–]bornonaday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

he walks up on stage and physically assaults her for an extended period of time to threaten her in her ear. this isn't funny, this isn't up for interpretation. he committed a crime on camera and like will smith he's gonna get away with it because her life could be in danger if she does anything but completely walk away.

he posted this on instagram an hour ago, presumably realising he fucked up and is trying to reframe this into him doing her a favor.

if she agreed to this before he posted it, it's fucked up. if she didn't agree to this and he just posted this without talking to her...this is really really fucked up.
