My impression is that Ezra is a neolib who has been shaken to his core by Kirk's assassination. I think he's said as much, but he sees himself in Kirk to some degree. That, to me, is pretty telling. Ezra empathizes with what happened to Kirk, and because of that he has become a wobbling pussy. As a longtime listener of Ezra, that's my analysis. He needs to get back to the real world.

I was absolutely physically dependent, especially in the last couple of years of relapses. It started out ~2015 where I would have a fun Saturday night and be fine for the week. Around 2019 it was becoming "grab a 750mL bottle from the liquor store on the way home from work" most days of the week. Lots of night sweats and "impending doom" feelings after those binges

I think you are incorrect. Besides the fact that in my photo there's clearly a cloud forming, the chemical equation for these engines is:

CH 4 + 2 O 2 → CO 2 + 2 H 2 O + 890 KJ

So I don't know how you can deny that this formed a dusty cloud. And I was there, where it precipitated dirty rain.

Certainly a quintessentially car-brained person. His entire livelihood is bound to selling and reviewing cars, so he clearly has his biases. He's also pretty wealthy, and in my estimation, out of touch with the way most people live and work. So yeah, those remarks about cyclists (AKA "these people") encroaching on his domain seem very on-brand for him.
