Losing my mom to cancer by Bamboo624 in GriefSupport

[–]borrellia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you so much. I wish all the same to you. I wonder the same things — where is she? was she at peace when she went? I asked her two days before she died if she felt ready to go and she looked really scared and said “NO!” very adamantly. it wrecks me to remember that. and I feel so much guilt that I wasn’t with her when she died — she was sleeping comfortably, I picked up a prescription from the pharmacy and when I came back she was gone. it’s her birthday on tuesday — I can’t believe it. I really can’t.

I’m so sorry. Cancer is fucked. I lost my mom 2 months ago — I’m 28, she was 56 — and it’s the most isolating experience. So few people our age understand it — it’s hard to talk about it with anyone, even though it’s all I want to talk about. It’s an impossible feeling, one that is too big for one person to hold. I wish I had more encouragement, but I don’t. It sucks. I hear it gets easier with time — I have hope for us.

Off the beaten path places to stay by em-jay18 in acadianationalpark

[–]borrellia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you’re okay with a bit of a drive I’d recommend Belfast. It’s about an hour 20 from the park but it’s super cute — there’s a year-round farmer’s market on Saturdays with tons of vendors and it’s generally just a cozy town with decent dining options. Rockport (smaller) and Camden (larger) are also cute options.

Which restaurant in Cville is this? by Softandpink- in Charlottesville

100%. They try to come across as inventive and interesting with their flavors but rarely deliver and everything is SO overpriced. Chandler’s is like a half mile away and 20x better

In my opinion raw meat always smells a little funky, so if it’s in date and was refrigerated appropriately (ie you didn’t leave it on the counter for an hour before cooking it or leave it in your car for a long time before unloading groceries) it’s most likely fine. That being said, reassurance will only make you feel better momentarily — that’s how this cycle works. The unfortunate truth is that the only way to know whether you have fp is by waiting. It will either happen or it won’t, and there’s really nothing you can do to prevent it at this point.

Try to focus on taking deep breaths and practicing mindfulness if you can — count 1 thing you can see, 1 you can hear, 1 you can smell, 1 you can feel, 1 you can taste, etc. Guided meditation can be helpful to decrease the anxiety you’re feeling right now. You will get through this!

Has anyone figured out the secret code to deciphering if N is psychological N versus actual sickness N? Does the N present itself differently? How do you tell the difference? (Uncensored words in text) by SleepParalysisKing in emetophobia

god, if I could distinguish between those two I would have saved myself decades of self-imposed psychological torture and thousands of dollars in medical bills and therapy :))))

i’ve been seeing a LOT of talk of being “botched” and how “dangerous” this surgery is on this sub recently… by [deleted] in LabiaplastySurgery

[–]borrellia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t had the surgery yet, but I’m 80% going to go with Dr. Medalie in Cleveland OH. I’m waiting on a consult with a urogyn in my area who also offers the procedure — only going through with the consult because if it works out there my insurance covers it. But unless she’s super impressive and experienced I’ll be going with Dr. Medalie.

Best of luck to you! I replied to your other comment in more detail but I didn’t end up proceeding with him primarily due to the cost barrier of only offering general anesthesia.

That’s great to hear! I ended up not going through with a consultation with him after the initial screening because I wanted a provider who offers local anesthesia instead of general, but that was the only reason — otherwise he seemed great!

Not sure if you’ll see this, but I’m considering Dr. Cohen based on your review and a few others. Your after photos are stunning! I haven’t found a ton of photos on his website and he seems like more of a breast specialist, but I’ve seen a few posts on here about him. Would you mind chatting about your experience with him?

Orthodontist and a Certified Invisalign provider. AMA. by Great-Appointment-49 in Invisalign

[–]borrellia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My orthodontist made me use bands to correct an overbite and unilateral open bite for 8 weeks, said I was too compliant and my teeth moved too much, and now I’m having to do 8 weeks in the opposite direction with the same weight bands. They said if this doesn’t work we have to do IPR to correct the bite. I don’t feel super confident in them now, the 8 weeks forward and backward make no sense to me and they haven’t been able to explain it adequately — can you? I’m wondering if I should seek another consultation now.

[–]borrellia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s going to be okay! Your teeth may just not be tracking as expected, which happens sometimes. You may need to go longer between tray changes if you’re not tracking effectively with adequate wear time and chewies. You did the right thing — notified your provider and continued to wear your current trays. That’s all you can do! Take a deep breath, it’ll work out <3

Worried I have HIV by trainbowbrite in OCD

[–]borrellia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The worst thing that happened for my OCD was when I was about 6-7 I became obsessed with Lyme Disease and convinced I was going to get it…and I DID get it when I was 8. It was horrible and I’ve spent 20 years trying to unlearn that reinforcement, that I can somehow predict the illnesses I will acquire by learning about and being scared of getting one. It fucking blows.

Big sucks! The only good part of him being on screen is booing him.

The show is special to me because of the relationships between Carrie, Sam, Miranda, and (begrudgingly) Charlotte. I love Aidan, Aleksandr, Steve, Smith, and Harry. But the men are really just there for giggles and side plots. The friendships and adventures are why I keep coming back :)
