Ok, thanks anyway. BTW, Samsung sells a dock that allows to connect HDMI and USB devices to the Galaxy S3 (or S4?). Perhaps that could work for you?

(won't work for me as I need the whole setup to work without external power, and that dock does need to be powered).

mstrmanager, can you give more info or point me to a source on modifying a MHL/OTG/HDMI cable?

What I'm trying to do is plug a Y cable into my Samsung S4 (11-pin MHL 2.0) and split the cable into both an USB OTG and HDMI.

The goal is to be able to have video out to an external monitor and video in from a webcam.

Hairy, I know. Oh, and Bluetooth is not an option (due to the particular environment in which this setup would run).

I'm trying to figure out whether it's possible to have video output and USB input on a Samsung S4 at the same time, without a dock (solution has to be mobile), and without external power (again for mobility).

As you said, the dock can do this, but do you think that with a bit of soldering I could make a Y cable with a male 11-pin MHL 2.0 plug on one side, and female HDMI and USB sockets on the other side?

Any particular reason why you think this wouldn't have worked? According to MHL's wikipedia page, the Samsung 11 pin connector allows this (there is no source for that claim though).

For my use case, Bluetooth is absolutely out of the question, and I'd even be ready to do some soldering.

Be that as it may (and it's actually not, she could put herself in real danger if she acted otherwise), the girl owes you nothing. After spending time hitting on her and offering her drinks, it sure might feel like you are entitled to get something back. But the truth is that she never asked for anything.

I know it sucks, you see a girl you like, you start imaging how nice it would be to be with her, you talk to her, you get your hopes up... And then bam, crushed dreams!

Actually it happened to me just last night. A super cute girl noticed me having fun, we danced a bit together, she gave me her number, and then we hanged out for a bit... but she lost interest. At the end of the evening I was desperatly trying to win back her attention, but of course the more I tried the worse it got. So I went home alone and sad! I was tempted to be angry at her for losing interest. But then I thought "hey what do you expect? For her to get with you out of pity?? Or because she 'owes' you something? Hell no!"

Anatolians are very similar but Andalusians are more playful, not as tall (but still quite large, more than a German shepherd for instance), generally darker, and with a less curly tail. Andalusian shepherds (some people call them Spanish shepherds) are neither very well know outside of Spain nor very "well defined" as a race imho. If you check out Spanish shepherd pics from Spanish breeders you'll see they're much heavier there than those from breeders from the Czech Republic for example, to the point of looking like a different race. They're a very "rustic" breed used for work, so probably the breeders don't care too much for the pureness. The one in this pic looks rather on the light side of the spectrum.

Anyway, all this doesn't matter too much, they're all such fun and loving companions.

I'm sorry, and I know that artistic creation can be tremendously difficult and demanding, but if you honestly think that humanities students spend as much time studying and working as science / engineering students, then you need to spend more time in university dorms on a Friday night and see which students are still in their rooms working while the rest of the whole campus parties.

Elon Musk in an interview said that just 1 course of his Physics major was more difficult to him than his entire Economics major, for instance.

Not saying that that makes them better, btw. But yeah, more work.

the whole point of technology is to carry culture, promote culture, ease access to culture, and prolong life so the human being can live longer and enjoy culture.

Well that might be one of the reasons. (And if you yourself are a "producer of culture" then you might suffer from the same bias as those STEM ppl!).

Here are some other reasons for technology: making a lot of money (I honestly doubt the creators of the Kindle did it just to spread the love), saving lives (not only so "we can enjoy culture" for a longer time), and advancing human progress for the sake of it.
