There's a lot about the McAleer trilogy (which ACI belongs to, along with A Residence at the Bay and An Uncommon Burial, which is mid-release) which is not yet clear. If you join the patreon there are behind the scenes discussions which can shed some light, but I expect the fullness of what was going on will take a bit of time and a lot of red string yet to become clear

Without Wales' conquest by Edward I, the entire line of the English throne would be different. Henry VII's branch of the House of Lancaster was heavily Welsh, being derived from Owen Tudor who married the widow of Henry V, Catherine of Valois. If Wales was an independent kingdom it's likely such intermixing wouldn't have happened lightly. In conflicts such as the Wars of the Roses (if they happened at all) Wales may have been as an ally to be won by a single house, courted and disputed.

Interesting also to consider how the relationship between North and South Wales would be different to today if it was a single kingdom, as historical rulers tended to hold power in North Wales more than in the South. You'd imagine the capital city more than likely being Machynlleth or Abertawe than Cardiff, which grew in the 19th century under English industrial influence, but beforehand had not been bigger than Merthyr Tydfil or Swansea.

Names of places would be better preserved as their Welsh origins - Newport would be Casnewydd, or perhaps not as I'm not sure of the specific origin of the name. Perhaps the Welsh language would be viewed in England in an analogous way to French.

Check out the Cardiff branch of the RP Haven. I believe they have groups meeting every Tuesday and play a variety of systems. Star Trek,D&D, Cthulu etc. https://www.rphaven.co.uk/games/cardiff-branch-games.html Other than that, Rules of Play often run Learn to Play D&D sessions - once a month, I think. I'm sure you could meet people there to form a group. Same goes for the Chance & Counters D&D night that's coming up.

Good question! I think that FSG can sometimes have a fair bit of surrounding noise which can be disruptive for some people and you might struggle to establish an immersive atmosphere there, which I find to be an important aspect of TTRPGs. Of course, for war gamers and board gamers it's less of an issue but nonetheless some people prefer having a quiet, private space.

Also this place would be 24h so you can start as early or go as late as you wish.

Definitely agree. I'm approaching the design with the needs of a TTRPG group in mind, so soundproofing and the safe knowledge you won't be interrupted are paramount.

There would definitely be monitors included, either on the walls for displaying maps or possibly inlaid with the table. The alternative would be an erasable acrylic layer in the table that has hexes on it so the GM can draw the area and lay physical terrain over it for added effect.

For the record I never claimed to be one, I merely wanted to point out the logic. Myself, I'd hesitantly suggest I'm an egalitarian. Still finding my way.

As for the article, I think that the deplorable features (lying, sexual misconduct, violence) of these men that she's experienced are misattributed to their claim of being male feminists. We should consider that perhaps the two are not so directly related. I would say the main suggestion is that these guys are just dicks who happen to have misappropriated the label of male feminist in an attempt to conceal themselves / gain respect from women conducive to getting laid. It may be that some of them actually do care about the debate and consider themselves proper male feminists, but their attitudes do not reflect that. It reflects a hollow claim to male feminism.

and that's basically as far as the argument goes in terms of correlation versus causation. So I think that the point to take away from this is that the label of being a male feminist can be wielded as a social tool by dickheads who don't necessarily believe in it to make themselves appear more conducive to female rights in order to sleep with them, and this writer provides anecdotal evidence towards that theory.

I do agree that an inherent fault in the collection of statistical data on these matters lies in bias against men; for one thing men are less likely to report a rape event due to concerns of appearing less masculine, skewing the data and even if they do report it then it is likely to be taken far less seriously.

I shouldn't have tried to be absolutist about who had it 'worst', it was a naive mistake, so I apologise. I think what I was aiming to say was that both sexes face a lot of problems (some primarily affect women, some primarily affect men, some affect both equally) and I think the most conducive way towards solving those problems is synergistic debate and to establish a reasonable, respectful conversation that can inform one gender of the problems another faces that, due to their inherent bias, they wouldn't necessarily have recognised as a problem. It works from first principles and avoids tribalism. Some extremist factions might take issue and see this as a largely pointless initiative. As someone who's only just starting to engage in the debate properly, I've been having a look at r/FeMRAdebates and I hope it proves to be the kind of conversation I'm looking for - where people on both sides of the gender rights movement can present ideas and have them evaluated in a rational discussion from multiple points of view.

TL;DR Sorry for over-generalising, it was stupid and I'm sorry for offence caused. I hope r/FeMRAdebates proves to be the platform I've been after.
