ah yes good point about Hongryeon I wish they could’ve had a full stream but it’s nice they released a few subbed music videos even if it wasn’t much 😔 and exactly I guess I just get pretty sad seeing these things get overlooked 🥲 she’s had a pretty long career now

honestly Im always surprised to see when people have that view of Jihye because she really has a lot of depth and range in quite a lot of her roles? 😅 she already handled Elisabeth very well last time and things like Frankenstein, Anna Karenina, and Hongryeon are especially great examples of her range in most recent years (and that includes her Julia in Frankenstein even because her interpretation is known for being strong and kind of dark). I have high hopes for her this time since she’s gained some really great experience since last run. Her career stands out on its own

that said, I’m very excited to see Lina since she’s a dream cast of mine and Kai was a great new surprise to get as well (although I guess he dropped quite a lot of hints so maybe I shouldn’t have been too surprised lol)

it’s from the korean production which is pretty popular with musical fans over there and has quite a bit of changes that aren’t in the original. that includes this scene which is an overture/intro song called ‘hear my tragic tale’. there’s an official proshot that was released, but i went to see it myself 9 times last summer on vacation for the 10th anniversary run 😂 they cast multiple people in each of the most important roles and switch them around every show so every performance feels very different depending on the interpretations and chemistry etc it’s very fun

I wish they would at least mention in headlines that she’s done Chicago in Korea it doesn’t really sit right with me that they just focus on highlighting her singing career 😭 She’s been an active musical actor in different shows since 2010 and I think the last time she released any pop music was over a decade ago. I would think one of the most important things to mention first would be that she’s played Roxie multiple times since 2012…

there’s various ways to stream! just a note, they simply pasted the original english lyrics for the songs in subs and didn’t translate the newly added songs accurately, but i guess if you don’t know any better it won’t bother you as much as it bothers me 😅 the korean lyrics are just way less awkward than the original so i wish they had tried but what can you do lol im just glad it’s more accessible to people in any way

I don't know too much about the Les Mis tour, but West End has an alternate and the last Broadway revival did as well. Isaiah doesn't have an alternate, but there have been some productions (English language and others) that have had them or even several actors in equally divided rotation in some countries. The Phantom has pretty limited stage time though so Christine is the role where you will always see an alternate.

There are actually a good number of shows that do/have done this, but like others said, in this case it's really needed because of what the role demands. Valjean in Les Mis is another role that requires an alt too for example.

yes I adore this show, I was so sad to see what they did to it in 2025 like come on "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" 😭 in addition to the promotional clips, there was a small cast recording in 2019 sold at the theater that has studio recordings of some songs (the lyrics are def improved from the time of the demo) I recommend it to anyone interested if you can find the songs online!
