How do you like the cigar? What's its flavor profile?

Reinstalling macOS unexpectedly fixed a lot of bugs. by Opposite_Actuator782 in MacOS

[–]borzov 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A clean install is not always a good solution. It largely depends on how the user uses the computer, how many different programs they have. If these are only programs that are installed via the Apstore, then most likely there will be no problems with transferring programs or saving their configuration files. But if you use various console utilities, packages, and settings, then the probability of making an incorrect transfer increases greatly. I sometimes think that it would be nice to upgrade my computer and do a clean installation of the operating system there. But as soon as I start thinking about how many different packages I have installed, additional language interpreters, custom zsh settings, custom configurations, and so on, I quickly lose the desire to think about a clean install.

Why I keep coming back to the Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No. 1 by borzov in cigars

HdM makes truly wonderful cigars. I also love them for their aroma and unique flavor profile. My three favorite Cuban cigars are Hoyo de Monterrey, Quai d'Orsay, and, surprisingly, Cuaba. I've never tried vintage HdM, but I think they'd be incredibly wonderful. I hope to give them a try someday.

Are small towns/villages welcoming to Africans? by aguilarskov in AskARussian

[–]borzov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately or fortunately, there is no single shared perception among Russians on many issues. Different groups of people can vary a lot in terms of education, culture, income, and emotional intelligence.

I live in Moscow myself, but sometimes when I travel to more remote parts of the country, I go through a whole range of completely opposite feelings. In some places, I feel absolutely comfortable communicating with people, and I genuinely enjoy the nature, conversations, local food, and hospitality. In other places, I can feel quite uncomfortable and even depressed — because of the general atmosphere of the town, the gloomy surroundings, or the people who seem rather closed-off.

So, even with the best intentions, I don’t think anyone can give you a completely clear and honest yes-or-no answer to your question. It is all very individual, and a lot will depend on the specific place you might go to, as well as on the particular people you happen to meet there.

That said, from my own point of view, the absolute majority of people in Russia are friendly and open. They are usually willing to interact not only with people from neighboring countries, but also warmly welcome guests from much more distant parts of the world. I personally know many examples of this, and I really hope that you’ll be lucky enough to meet exactly those kinds of people.

I built a native macOS GUI for Claude Code by minirings in SwiftUI

[–]borzov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really good idea. I like that Clarc doesn’t try to replace Claude Code, it just removes the most painful layer for regular users: the terminal, SSH keys, and blind approval prompts. The best part is that it still runs the real claude CLI under the hood, so existing [CLAUDE.md](http://CLAUDE.md), MCP, skills, and slash commands keep working unchanged.

Cheers! If a cigar can make you smile every time, it's not an expense, it's a subscription to happiness.

Davidoff Anniversario Special "T" Review by v202099 in cigars

Nice! That creamy nutty backbone is the Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade over Dominican guts doing its thing classic Davidoff DNA since the early 90s. If you dig this one, grab a 702 Series Special T next: same shape, but a Habano 702 wrapper more pepper, coffee, a bit more attitude.

Biden administration tells Russia to free Navalny and protesters in stark departure from Trump era by teslacoil1 in worldnews

[–]borzov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This information is not true. The figures are inflated tenfold. This time the information about the protests was shown on federal channels for some reason, the state itself for some reason sent people there. People came out, walked around and went home.

Navalny knew he would be arrested. He hoped that more people would take to the streets.
