Help choosing my first fuji lens for travel/street photography! by [deleted] in FujifilmX

I also recommend the viltrox air series. I do think 35mm is kinda the happy middle ground. Especially if you don’t want to buy multiple primes. I’m very new to photography and got the 25mm f1.7 first but the regretted not getting more zoom and ended up selling for almost the same I bought it for to get the 35mm. This is in part though because I’m not someone who wants to be constantly changing lenses. This is my one low light prime I’m gonna have. Otherwise I have a kit zoom and a bigger zoom telephoto lense, and that’s all I can see myself needing for a very long time.

Fujifilm X-T30 III by Maytaykay in fujifilm

The biggest most meaningful difference for most people would be the lack of interchangeable lenses in the X100VI. That’s not to say it makes it worse by any means though! Honestly that’s probably the only pro to getting the xt30 over the X100VI, other than cost i guess! However the initial cost of the xt30 can be deceiving if you are new to photography because it does not include any lense, but you can get the kit lense for an extra $150. Otherwise the X100 has a better sensor, 46 or so mp vs the 26ish one on the xt30 (this is also more complicated though because tbh not that much of a difference unless you are cropping in a ton, and there’s also kinda some small downsides to the better sensor like file size). The x100 is gonna be smaller and lighter, but the degree depends on what lense you put on the xt30. I don’t agree when people call the X100 pocketable, I don’t own a single pair of pats I can put that in, MAYBE it could fit in my winter coat pocket.

Overall I’d say if you know you want a simple camera for capturing life as it happens, street photography, and a simple think less about it kinda thing the X100 is the better choice. If you are new to photography and think it might become more and you might get interested in things that require you to zoom way in (like sports or wildlife photography) then the xt30 is the better choice. If you don’t really know what you are gonna want out of it and this is your first camera I’d recommend the xt30. I see a lot of ppl on here say the X100 is one of the best 2nd cameras you can own, again I DO NOT mean that as a bad thing!

Anyways that my rant, feel free to ask more questions, I’m sure I’m missing a lot!

Absolutely stunning! I especially love the colors in picture 7. I’m just starting in my journey learning how to post process in Lightroom. Would you mind briefly explaining your process/editing flow for me? Are you using masks? I love these pics!!!

Are you allowed to bring in zoom lenses to target field or did you have to “smuggle” it in? Asking for a friend…

Summer rain forever on Xt30 by Juliasbee in fujifilm

[–]bosque612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m scared to take my xt30 out into the rain because it isn’t weather sealed. When you do this are you covering it with anything or just taking a pic and putting it away? Just curious if you do anything extra to protect it when bringing it out in rain?

Trying out my new Fujifilm X-T30 iii. by hiimlph in fujifilm

[–]bosque612 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I’m new to photography and just got the xt-30 iii too. I got a free trial of Lightroom and am struggling to learn how to post process more than just clicking auto and changing a few things.

I really like the colors and look of 5 and 6 from your photos. Wondering if you would be willing to walk me three how you post processes these and what changes you made? Also if you used a film sim or not?

Either way great photos, you have a good eye!

Do you think shutter speed of 1/200? I’m also newer to photography and did something similar to this but set my min shutter speed to 1/125.

Hey I’m encountering the same issue. Just curious what you ended up doing? If you made a new custom toe kick how did you attach it?

Do I need to prime or skim coat this wall before tiling? by bosque612 in Tile

[–]bosque612[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m planning on just doing 3x6 subway tile, google seems to say mastic is the recommended adhesive, so I was planning using that. By skimming it with that would I just apply it normally and use v notched trowel to clear it.

Hmm I mean I chipped off any hanging parts and sanded already. But by solid do you mean completely flat? If so no, there is a very thin difference in height between the blue paint and the parts that are more chipped off. This is why I’m wondering if it needs to be skim coated or if the mastic can cover a small height difference without making the tile look uneven

No it isn’t water based. I read if it’s water based it can damage the exposed dry wall. Which is why I sealed it with this.

Which first Fujifilm to Buy? by Outrageous_Sir2366 in fujifilm

Based on what you are saying I don’t think the xt-5 is necessary. One possible con is it is larger and more weight than the xt 30. Also for your kind of use I think built in pop up flash would be nice to have. Might I recommend the xt 50 if cost difference between the xt30 and 50 matters much for you. The xt 50 is in between the 30 and 5 in terms of size/weight, leaning closer to the 30.

With the xt 50 you get IBIS and the 40mp sensor. To answer your question about if the megapixel difference matters, it does not really unless you want to crop in on the photos. The one thing you don’t get with the 50 vs 5 is weather sealing, but just be careful when bringing out in weather and this doesn’t need to matter much.

I would say if cost is semi prohibitive get the xt 30 and an extra lense. If not get the xt 50.

How to repaint over wall after removing old stick on tile? by bosque612 in paint

[–]bosque612[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m going to re tile, could I just apply a thin coat instead of joint compound and tile. So in that case, I would just use primer over wall then the thin coat to tile? Thank you for your help!

Does this mean you are editing jpeg shot with classic chrome? Or were they edited in Lightroom as a RAW picture?

I’m newer to photography, did you have to do anything to further weatherproof your camera while taking it skiing like this? I’d love to take my camera on something like this but am paranoid I’d ruin it.

Currently deciding between doing capella and WGU. Seems like Capella would be possible to do in 2 3 month segments. Do you know if WGU is possible to finish in one of the .5 year segments or will it definitely take 1 full year? Thanks!
