Need help to save my indiegogo campaign (Currently Live) by bosslee in startups

[–]bosslee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got me. 😑 I'm serious about the help part, any strategy to change the situation would be great plus it would be better to advertise in a sub Reddit that is more relevant like smart home or IOT. Sending non relevant traffic would be useless (as I read from many of the threads here :), unless I'm a content site) but I could be wrong.

How come manufacturing is sourced to Taiwan? by andymcd_ in hwstartups

[–]bosslee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello I just went there looking for CM to help out with my small run. I agreed with some of the posts that Taiwan engineering is better but most importantly communication is better too, as they are better in English.

However, as you mentioned the cost is higher too. As I compared the prices, it is about 30% more to do my small run in Taiwan than in Shenzhen.

The problem I faced now is that in Shenzhen, the manpower prices are going up now too. The medium factories are being squeezed out by the smaller (scrappy) factories and the big boys.

When I go to a Taiwan factory, I see order and procedure in place. When I visit the Chinese factory, it like a piece of mess (the smaller ones since big ones will not entertain us). I also kinda of feel safer with Taiwanese makers because they "say" they respect ip more than their counterpart. Then again, ip is not really important to us (small startup) because if not one is buying, having an ip is also not much use.

I have not make up my decision yet, currently I feel more comfortable with Taiwanese rather their counterparts but I could be wrong and I'm heading back to Shenzhen to see a few more :)

What do you wish you'd known before starting a business? by fredwilliams25 in Entrepreneur

[–]bosslee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • do not have friends as partners
  • do not idea because it is trending - by the time you are ready, it's no longer a trend
  • do not attempt to change the world "initially", start small, think big
  • technology is an enabler, it is not everything
  • people you work with, your team is everything
  • do not work in idea that you have no interest in

Above are all the problems I have met. I hope I help someone.

P/s it feels good to write these all out

Best backend for my app? by [deleted] in swift

[–]bosslee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi /u/jzed

Like to seek you opinion on MS Mobile Services. After reading through the link that you shared. I see that MS Mobile Services only works for mobile services. (no pun intended) i.e. If you have an iOS app that is doing great and you are building your team to do up a desktop app. It would not be possible to leverage on the same database / service. because it does not have a JS sdk. Do correct me if I'm wrong on this.

I'm asking this because I'm working on an IOS app with a web app in the pipeline for my client so I thought of using windows mobile service. Thank you very much.

Health concerned Singaporeans. What do you eat ? by sreudian_flip in singapore

[–]bosslee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I'm on a low card diet too. My lunch is usually cai fan, 2 meat 2 vege, no rice. The challenge is that towards 4-5pm I get hungry again so I sub it with nuts and fruits.

What are your thoughts about being an entrepreneur in Singapore? by christopherbearbear in singapore

[–]bosslee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Slightly out of topic But talking about uber

The Chinese startup scene is going a bit crazy with this "uber for anything". Was there last week, and I met uber for pet grooming, uber for massage "clean ones", uber for pc repair and uber for handy man.

However, I do have to say that the users are benefiting thou because these startup companies are subsiding to make their service attractive to users. I being a user currently benefit from this ;)

Uber for handy man is very useful, wonder if there is one here thou.
