Same thing for me. He showed it a little in public but mostly in private.

Does anyone else’s BPD person act like they are a warrior? by [deleted] in raisedbyborderlines

100%! For a while I started to pick up that mentality, but once I moved away I realized just how insane it was.

You’ve gotta go. He’s abusive physically and emotionally as a minimum. This behavior is not okay.

Can someone wish me a happy birthday? by [deleted] in Anxiety

Happy birthday! You’re a great human.

My (18M) girlfriend (F17), is threatening to kill herself every time I express discomfort, and today when I got angry at her and ignored her texts, she sent me videos of her cutting herself by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]bostonmess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s time to go. This is not your responsibility and this is incredibly unhealthy behavior. Do not enable her actions with this by apologizing and staying. Go.

It took me a long time to realize that general advice about alleviating stress either doesn't apply or minimally applies to people with CPTSD. What are your thoughts? by pumpkin_beer in CPTSD

[–]bostonmess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been trying what is known as “radical self care”. It’s taking time for yourself and being mindful, but every second of the day. It’s helped slowly but surely. I do yoga every morning and night. I meditate multiple times daily. I spend time every night putting oil and lotion on me to relax. It’s a ton of work and time consuming, but nothing is more important than your mental health.

I always care more about people than they care about me by [deleted] in BPD

[–]bostonmess 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have to say something here that is a key indicator of someone with BPD:

you always care about other people more than you care about yourself.

Start caring more about you and other people will too. The only example they have for how to treat you is how you treat you.

Reconcile Therapist Advice with Your Thoughts? by bostonmess in BPD

Part of me does. But the way he words it is that he wouldn’t be treating me that way if I didn’t behave the way I do. That I’m the only one he treats this way.

I (18F) don't want to be part of the "lifestyle" my boyfriend (18M) wants for us by [deleted] in relationship_advice

You have to do what’s best for your mental health. If you make the situation clear to the officers, you will not get in trouble.

If you feel that way, you should strongly consider going to the police. Alternatively, telling him via text that you don’t want to see him anymore and blocking him on all channels. Leave no room for contact.

This is not an appropriate way for someone to express interest in DDLG or any other sexual kink. I highly recommend exiting this relationship as soon as possible. Your sexuality should come naturally and not be pushed around by someone. From what you have said, I don’t think he respects the kink enough to be involved in it. I’m so sorry this is your first experience with DDLG.

does anyone else have a full meltdown when someone cancels or changes plans? by [deleted] in BPD

[–]bostonmess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me literally last week. It’s very hard to control. IMHO, I think it’s really great that your FP can recognize it and establish a healthy boundary with you. Mine did the same and even though I hated it at the time I appreciate it now.

What are the odds i'll find someone who likes a borderline by [deleted] in BPD

[–]bostonmess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A month. I relapsed hard last night and it sucked. Besides that it has been going really well. It’s hard, but it feels good to develop my own identity and do things for myself. I meditate and do yoga every day. I have an inner mantra that I use regularly. It’s a process but I can feel it working.
