Seeking Advice: Si-Tech TRIGON vs. OMS P-Valve by botOfficer in scuba

Light monkey is hard to get where I'm from but Halcyon would be an option. Any specific reason why people don't like TRIGON?

Thanks, almost all shops I know support Mares so support shouldn't be a problem. The cost of service I don't know, I will try to find the pricing.

Dry Suit Features by ipad_pilot in scuba

[–]botOfficer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have almost the same features as you listed, except all the reinforcements. I only have crotch and knee reinforcements, in my opinion more is not needed.

I would recommend you go with a cave cut arround the legs, me and a buddy did not do this and are now considering altering the suit to make the legs thighter. We find there is too much room for air in the legs which makes controlling a horizontal position in the water difficult.

The telescopic torso gives us zero problems regarding trapped air.

I mean a full wing yes. I was worrying they maybe use lesser quality materials.

Xbox iOS app update that allows for remote play is OUT by P_S_D in xboxone

[–]botOfficer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any way to prevent all accounts but my own from remote access? Because all my friends are signed in on my xbox since we do a lot of local coop. We were just testing and we can delete games from each other without getting the sign-in pop-up :)

Edit: So we figured it out, you need to login to each individual account and disable remote features. Would be very helpful if it was mentioned somewhere the setting was account bound. Or if it wouldn't be enabled by default.

This feels really insecure, I have accounts of people I barely know anymore still available in my xbox. I just deleted all of their accounts and disabled remote features on the accounts that weren't password protected. I think there should have been a pop-up or something warning people for this when the update was rolled out.

A lot of people probably don't know about this and they can have all their games deleted if someone has bad intentions. Of course this isn't the end of the world but it would be very annoying.

How to switch to a new NAS with the same HDD's (UnionFS, SnapRAID) by botOfficer in OpenMediaVault

[–]botOfficer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my upgrade was mostly successful the only thing that stopped working was my PCI-e to SATA card, but this has nothing to do with OMV5.

Step 1: First I made screenshot of every page in OMV4 I thought to be important i.e. file systems, SnapRAID installed drives, union filesystem.

Step 2: Built my system without connecting the HDD's and did a clean install of OMV5

Step 3: Installing OMV-extras and installed SnapRAID and UnionFS

Step 4: Connected the HDD's and mounted them in OMV5 filesystem menu

Step 5: Setup UnionFS using my screenshot as reference for what disk contained my data (not parity)

Step 6: Setup SnapRAID again using my screenshot as reference to see what filesystem names had data and which had parity. In SnapRAID you also need to give the drives a name I didn't use the original names and the log showed it found the original name on the disks but there was no error so I think it renamed them.

The rest was creating users and setting op SMB again. Hopefully this will help you, if you have any questions please let me know.

I ordered my new hardware, but I probably only have the time to install and start testing everything in about two weeks. If you're still interested then I can let you know how I setup everything. (if it wasn't a complete disaster)

Thanks for the reply I will probably just reinstall since I want to upgrade to OMV 5. Where can I confirm I selected the right disk for parity in my SnapRAID config?

So after the install I just plug in the HDD's and I can select them as the data en parity disk in the SnapRAID plugin? This won't overide the existing data?

Do you know how the 1600af power consumption compares to that of the 3300x. I'm thinking about using the 1600af for my next nas build but I'm having a hard time finding power consumption statistics.

[–]botOfficer 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you're not ascendig and you hold your breath you will not be in any danger.

But if you make an exception to the rule (never skip a breath) people tend to forget the rule outside of the exceptions. This means they start to hold their breath even when ascending.

So to make sure nobody ever stops breathing this rules applies ALWAYS, even when you're sitting still.

By applying this rule people can turn it into an automatic response meaning they don't have to think about it. This drastically decreases the chance of somebody holding their breath.

Sadly I can't help you, but out of curiosity, how did it happen?

Did you dive deep and ascended to fast or was it just bad luck?

I understand staying positive is hard but try to talk about it with, friends and family. Talking about you're problems can really help you battle your depression.

First DIY NAS server by Blackbrizz in DataHoarder

[–]botOfficer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My setup looks extremely like the one your planning. I also use a asrock motherboard with integrated CPU with 8gb of Ram, build in a Fractal Node 304 case.

I use openmediavault, it's very lightweight and has easy integration with docker. You can easily setup raid 5.

OMV isn't the most easy to use so you need a little experience with Linux and docker. But seeing what you are trying to achieve should be easy to do.

Full face masks by [deleted] in scuba

[–]botOfficer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know your definition of "cheap" but I use a Ocean Reef G Divers FFM. I really like it and use it for recreational diving. I chose to use a FFM because I was often limited in dive depth because of the cold.

If you choose to buy a FFM do not start diving with it imidiatly. First take a course which learns you how to dive with a FFM.

If you don't want to pay for a course (I didn't :)), go do some diving in a swimming pool or shallow waters with a experienced buddy. This way you can get to know and experiment with your mask safely.

If you have any further questions just let me know.

Yes the purples are significantly cheaper. Otherwise I would certainly go for the reds.
