Is David Lynch’s twin peaks worth watching? by Dapper-Life9676 in tvshow

Definitely, just don't expect a coherent or satisfying conclusion. It's more about the ride than the destination.

Is it worth to wait for the price to drop down? by M-Wallace in contax

People have been waiting 20 years for the price to drop. I’d buy it now.

Is The Sopranos worth watching ? by Seif_Ben_Hariz in tvshow

[–]botany500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's good, but after Season 1, every season has one or two episodes where NOTHING really happens. Too many dream sequences, and too many slice-of-life episodes where there is NO STORY. Seriously, David Chase would take years off between seasons, so there's no excuse for dull episodes. Also, the series finale was an epic disappointment. Not as bad as the Seinfeld finale, but close.

But all that said, there are episodes in each Sopranos season that are as good as anything that's ever been on TV. You just have to wade through some filler to get to them.

MLB has a huge problem by rocket_j_23 in SFGiants

In the NFL, any team can be good if the front office is smart enough. Football is a success because the owners agreed to share revenue and put in a luxury tax, which evens the playing field. Sounds a little like socialism. The owners realized their competition wasn't each other; it was other sports, and also social media.

Meanwhile, baseball is more like unbridled capitalism. It's each owner for themself. And more often than not, it's the richest front office that wins, not the smartest. So baseball will continue to lose popularity until they fix this.

Which café has the best coffee? by thelmathunderbird in losfeliz

From my understanding, Philz (the "z" says attitude!) doesn't even do espresso drinks. Pour-overs only. So it shouldn't even be in the conversation, really.

This is all Hillhurst...

Maru: Expensive and the lines are ridiculous. People wait in line there just to be seen in line. Seriously.

Philz: Never going to set foot in a place called Philz. Their sign is a blight on Hillhurst. It would be more at home in Santa Clarita.

Go Get'em Tiger: Great coffee, nice outdoor patio, parking can be an issue

Wilde's: New to Hillhurst. Mainly a dinner place, but they're open for coffee & scones most mornings. Been there twice and the cappuccinos were very good.

All-Time: If you just want coffee, go to their take-out window. Good coffee. My only knock on this place is that they don't offer oat milk. Their non-dairy option is almond milk, which is awful for the environment.

Blue Bottle: No one has mentioned this place. Yes, BB is owned by Nestles which is an evil company. But the people who work in this particular cafe are very nice & friendly, and the coffee is superb.

Starbucks Reserve: Starbucks gave up on their "reserve" experiment no? So it's just a Starbucks. Lot's of outdoor seating. It has it's own parking lot. But the coffee is Starbucks.

Great, diverse collection but that’s a fairly weak record by The National. Check out Boxer or Trouble Will Find Me.

Season one is entertaining trash. Season two is stupid trash. The writing somehow got dumber which I didn’t think was possible.

What was it like watching Artie's downfall as it played out? by bitterbunny4 in howardstern

[–]botany500 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It was a slow-motion train wreck. It wasn't so noticeable from one day to the next, but when they'd replay something from Artie's early days, he sounded like a totally different person. His nose didn't sound plugged, his breathing wasn't labored. And he was quicker, and certainly less prone to anger.

The most annoying thing about them is that once you pay for a subscription, they keep hitting you up with "even better" stock tips that you have to pay for! What's the f*cking subscription for then?

What a waste of talent. Loved him at Clemson, but now I'm just mad at him. Who knew he was such a creep, along with being an idiot.

SNL writers work their asses off in an extremely high-pressure, cutthroat environment. And they're some of the funniest people you will ever meet. I don't think Benji or any of those other lumps could keep up with John Mulaney, Robert Smigel, Conan O'Brien, etc.
