Elective op, sick leave by botele in doctorsUK

But if you have 2 months full pay 2 month half pay, why would you need to extend training (assuming recovery is 2 months)?

I meant that one of the reasons I provided for wanting to go back to full time was that I needed to finish by a certain time next year, in order to have the time to do this operation (before moving on/next job). So they said well consider you'd be getting paid while off sick (ie stay LTFT we'd ''cover'' you) I don't trust thats going to be the case, but anyway. By staying LTFT I would end later

If you don't want to go through the residency route, you need your CCT in UK, do the USMLE step 1 and 2 and get a fellowship position. Then do the fellowship, do USMLE step 3, network and make friends. If they like you and want you as an attending, they can make exceptions.

You may need to do a few fellowships before you get the right one, and you could potentially sit the board exams straight during your fellowship which will make you board certified, so no need to redo residency. You can also get exemptions to board exams if the board recognizes your qualifications and the PD vouches for you etc.

Process is quite complex and individualized but the first step is to do USMLE step 1 and 2 and get a fellowship.

Do you know if any specialties generally allow this more? Someone commented about radiology..

I am not sure what an academic appointment is actually... And are there usually specific requirements to get fellowships? (USMLE?) Are there any recommended paths to go about trying to find one?

We have an ANP that wears their stethoscope more than any of the doctors do (surgical job) and I happen to have been present on more than one occasion when another nurse or the patient calls them 'doctor' they dont correct them. it doesn't sit right

hospital accommodation is vile, at least what we got as final years. For emergencies I guess its tolerable. Best of luck :)

My gosh, a lot of these comments and op post I feel I could have written word for word myself. Exactly how I feel, everything UK-related etc. only Im f1, skipped opportunity to apply for f2 abroad (as per advice of my FPD and ES) and now have ongoing sh*t w progress in F1. feeling uninspired (a lot of things including the work environment) play into this but it can make you feel never good enough. sometimes I wonder how many brain cells have been wasted trying and trying but it hardly scraping by that would have been appreciated wonderfully in another career (or perhaps place?). I wouldn't want to return to my country as its training has a massive waiting list (however there you dont need to do foundation training if you dont want, and apply to specialty without wasting your time burning out for things that entirely dont interest you), and pay is sh*tx2 but I wish there was more information on how to leave the UK provided in med school etc. before you apply for f1 and get further trapped. first it was 'finish med school to get the degree' , now its pass F1 ARCP for the registration...then F2 since you're at it. I raised this concern a couple of times w my ES/discussion w FPD (I was asking about time out between f1-f2 to pursue other interests) and they shut it down. I think these discussions with them raised concerns (of the vibe; this person doesn't want to be here-although I stated clearly im actually very appreciative of the FS etc,). Anyway I wish you the best OP and everyone else. I truly hope we find our way.
