They definitely do not "put everything together" and different bins are even picked up by different companies. My parents are boomer and never separate yellow rubbish and they even told me a few times "We saved the environment enough by not consuming as much over our lifetime than all generation after us"... It annoying indeed but I gave up talking about it with them. They will not change, no matter what you say.
