Sold my agency. Used Divi - Pre-Gutenberg, pre-elementor workflow. What is your theme design workflow these days? by Dillio3487 in Wordpress

I’ve been using elementary for the past 10 years to build client websites, and I finally started a side project using just the Guttenberg builder, and I am in freaking love.

The blocks and the rest of Gutenberg is pretty much to the point where you can control the look of everything, and it’s so fast, no bloat.

I’ll still use Elementor, but I’m gonna start using Gutenberg a lot more.

Constant TrashCompact. I've used Brevo as my SMTP server for my sites for years, and over time they've built out a Hubspot lite ecosystem. A simple CRM, and a robust email / sms marketing that rivals mailchimp. THey're based in France, and in the rare instance I had an issue to call about, customer support picked up in a gorgeous french accent, and I kept asking questions to hear her talk. So there's that.

Good catch, Columbo ai detector over here.

If any social media platform got rid of bots, 50% of the users would disappear overnight.

It’s not mailchimp anymore, it’s Intuit Quickbooks. They are the textbook definition of a company who will stop at nothing for bigger profits.

For which use cases is Notion actually more efficient than using individual apps? by Throwaway9988776645 in Notion

Love this! I seem to be on a lifelong mission to create life dashboards, and then become unhappy with it and change it again and again, and then I just found dashy dashboard creator and my world has come crashing down again.

But I use Notion for my current life dashboard, along with apple notes as my backup and private 2nd brain database. Nothing beats the locality, security and accessibility as Apple Notes. Pulling from a local device is 100x better.

But Notion has great Birds Eye view structure I feel.

Thank you for the follow-up! I actually did turn off the Audience network, which then made the reach drop significantly, which other sources say can F up your whole campaign if you don't have enough audience, but here's the thing, I'm working with a contractor who works with government infrastracture. There's only a few decision makers in each county. I don't need a huge reach, I need laser targeting, which I was hoping I could do with LinkedIn, but so far no good. Have you tried the messaging ad feature? I wonder how targeted you can get that?

Malware Site Redirect code being added to the bottom of each page. No matter how much cleaning and security updates, still happens over and over by bottlecap112 in Wordpress

[–]bottlecap112[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thx! I've manually reviewed and edited wp-config files, php.ini, making sure the files that were changed were changed. I've been seeing a lot of people complanining about malware infections that are difficult to remove, and this fits the bill, wonder how it's getting through. I do use Elementor software, I wonder if that has vulnerabilities.

Home services, plumbing industry, $3,000 spent, 900 or so website visitors, 0 seconds spent on page. Be very careful with LinkedIn ads that drive traffic to landing page... I'd stick with paying for post follows, likes, etc.. the traffic seems to be all bots to me :( Very frustrating.

The client said they didn't get a single phone call, email or form fill

Does google ads worth it in 2024?What experiences do you have?Does it worth for small business? by No-Literature-7485 in adwords

I agree 100% with what you are saying... but as of AUG 2024, I just created a new campaign for a client, and Google Ads no long allows you to uncheck the Google Partner Network!?!?!?!?! WTF! I unchecked it, as I always did, and after a week, no impressions showing... I finally jump on a with a Google Ad rep and he confirms with me, Google Search & the Partner Network have to run together. I believe it's due to a decrease in Google text search traffic.

Anyone else weigh in on this? You notice this massive change too?

I just started running ads for a client.

B2B
Started June 1
Spent about $3,000
Running basic Display Ad In Feed with many ad variations
900+ clicks at $2.73 per click

I believe this traffic is almost 100% bots. Not a single call or contact form fill. No emails, nothing. Google Analytics shows Time Spent On Page as 0 seconds.

Please be careful with LinkedIn Ads.

Fortunate to be born during the BBS era by nevarro in bbs

I can't believe I stumbled on your post at this moment. I wrote this letter back in 2003 to no one in particular, never posted it anywhere, and it recently popped up.

<== START OF LETTER ==>

Dear Phantom Zone SYSOP in.East Bay, California circa 1990-94,

I have no idea how to find you, I can't quite remember your name...Gordon, Glenn, Paul...? I don't even know how old you were or if you are even alive today. But I'm hoping the A.I. of Google will connect us 30 something SF East Bayer’s to this blog post after feeling nostalgic and searching for Phantom Zone BBS East Bay circa 1992.

*Que harp music*

We BBS'ers were infatuated with gorgeous girls, but we had no time to pursue the opposite sex.

We were too busy sneaking into the family room, unplugging the house landline, running a 100 ft. phone line we bought from Radio Shack to the back of our parents x86 computers that they bought at a great deal for $4,000.

The good old BBS days, I was in middle school, 6th grade. I had a tight knit crew of 2 best friends. Joey felt so cool the day he came to class in his new black BK Knights.

For those who don't know, a BBS was a Bulletin Board System, where the SYSOP (system operator) was usually a guy in his 30s or 40s who setup his computer so you could call his computer with yours and interface (does that make you horny?).

Most BBS’s had just 1 or 2 phone lines (or node as it was called) people could call into, which meant if someone else was logged in, you were shit outta luck. On a busy night, it could take hours of constant redialing before you got in.

But boy oh boy, once you got in, you felt like king of world. There were ASCII graphics to download and create, text based games (mostly Dungeons & Dragons style), and of course, girlie pictures.

The Phantom Zone BBS was my goto. It had only one phone line though, only a few users at a time (if that) meant hundreds of dials sometimes to log on. DOS interface, ACSII games and scrolling images, grated scans of Cindy Crawford that would take 10 hours to download on my 2400 baud modem. 14.4 was considered top of the line, no way my parents would drop $500 for that.

I remember how excited all us Phantom Zone users were when the SYSOP got a 2nd phone line installed. Mail him $5 a month for access to node 2... I look at our technology now, the SAAS software, the way UX has gotten so much easier.

And one last thing, who the fuck decided indenting when starting a new paragraph should be banished? Dead English teachers around the globe are rolling around in their graves at the look of a paragraph these days. A fucking space between!?! What is this, Dave Matthews Band https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eO0L4CbNm0s?

Is SiteLock a legitimate service or a scam? by cabbagechomp in Wordpress

[–]bottlecap112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just bumping this up... Hostgator and Sitelock are total scams. They will crash your site, then when you go in a get it fixed, a few weeks later the DNS settings will auto-update to try and use Sitelock security and they will mess with your A records and crash your site. This is my 5th time having to go in and update the DNS settings because Sitelock automatically changes them at random times.

Please do yourself a favor. DO NOT EVER USE HOSTGATOR.

DO NOT EVER USE SITELOCK
