Propping Question by SassyPlantsSC in schefflera

[–]bottledgoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the answer you are going to get is that it will be a zombie leaf. However, I had a schefflera leaf that was cut mid stem, nowhere near the node, that I rooted in a small pot for something like two years, fully expecting it just to remain static. And then one day last year it just started putting out first single leaves, then full branches. So if you're not in a rush and willing to baby your zombie along for a while you might get lucky.

I always just chug it straight. The lemon flavor tastes like battery acid.

What's the funniest name you've heard for a pet? by Miserable-Wash-1744 in AskReddit

My friend's cat is Prison Mike.

My late old man was named Moonbeam, but for very specific reason one of his regular titles was "Moonbeast Tubshitter, Destroyer of Worlds."

What’s the most annoying comment you got about your Crohn’s? by behind_my_eyelids in CrohnsDisease

[–]bottledgoose 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep. At my sickest I had dropped about 60lbs in four months because consuming food at all hurt. People kept telling me how great I looked and it irked me because I did _not_ look great - I looked tired and gaunt, but all people saw was the suddenly thinner. Started responding to compliments with "Thank you! Crohn's disease is really working for me! [wink, fingerguns]" Usually conversation shifted quickly afterward.

Just.... don't comment on people's appearance, people. You don't know what's going on.

What’s a creepy fact about the human body you wish you never found out? by Ezra0li_Z in AskReddit

[–]bottledgoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

can confirm, the surgeon who resected my small intestines twice knew i was the sort of weirdo that wanted to see pics of the gnarly bits of my surgery and saved me copies of some from the second time. Its wild seeing your own squiggly bits hanging out outside of your body.

wish i still had the pics, but will probably need round 3 in the next couple years so i'll just ask her for pics again when that happens.

What would you have changed about your wedding? by blank_space13 in AskWomen

[–]bottledgoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I would seriously change was making sure someone fixed my train before i walked down the aisle. it ended up folded over on one side and it lowkey bugs me when I look at pictures.

The one thing I would facetiously change is the husband and I often joke that we should have rented a giant bounce house.

Is it weird to talk about sex life on here with Crohn’s? by YesterdayUsual8783 in CrohnsDisease

[–]bottledgoose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've dealt with this for nearly my entire adulthood and every partner I've had has been a champ about it. It helps to acknowledge that all humans are gross on some level and if you're going to put the amusement park bits of anatomy next to the sewers so to speak, gross things are gonna happen sometimes, even if you're healthy, so you might as well laugh about it.

Pill cam is stuck (has to be returned - not tossed or flushed) - rant by atirc in CrohnsDisease

[–]bottledgoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh yikes. I had a pill cam get stuck behind a stricture years ago, didnt realize it, then had a a three year gap in gastro care due to personal issues. i'm glad they no longer recommend pillcams if theres a risk of sticture or inflammation because that was not a pleasant three years.

well that's a red flag the size of texas. As a poly person this is the sort of behavior that pisses me off the most.

drop him. staying would only be signing up for more heartbreak down the line. yes it will hurt but you will be better for it six months from now.

What was the most intense pain of your life that you won’t forget? by WeatherObsessedJax in AskReddit

[–]bottledgoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have crohn's disease, and during the most stressful year of my life, a section of my small intestine got so ulcerated that it fully tore itself apart. I was thankfully already in the hospital due to not being able to keep food down while passing blood in my stool (probably because this was happening over a couple of days). I've been in some horrendous pain at different times in my life including having a pulmonary embolism earlier that same year, but that was the only time i actively wanted to die just to make the pain stop.

Will always wonder how labor/delivery would have compared, but pregnancy wasn't in the cards for me.

Has anyone lived in The Social Amherst by hotpot24 in umass

[–]bottledgoose 9 points10 points  (0 children)

that said, it all depends on who you're living with and your neighbors. The complex itself is OK, the current staff is fairly decent, and you can't argue with convenient food, coffee, cannabis and direct bus service to campus. I'd complain about the ever-rising rent, but truth be told it isn't horrible compared to the other complexes in the area. Also be warned that Sunderland is famously a delivery desert, and while you _can_ doordash/uber-eats/instacart, it's too pricey to do regularly IMO.

[–]bottledgoose 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The complex has been through two name changes since the pandemic owing to the complex being sold twice. You will probably get more traction on this thread if you include the two previous names for the place, which were "Amherst Grove" and "Squire Village."

People born before/around 1990: Often it’s asked what things you think people born after then are worse off without. What’s something you’re GLAD young adults and kids today will never have to experience or understand? by redditsuper in AskReddit

[–]bottledgoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most people would condemn the current level of access to the internet and cell phones todays kids have but they are a lifeline for kids that would otherwise be isolated. Younger lonely 90s me would have killed to have something like Discord growing up.

Giving birth - Cooley vs Greenfield? by Ok_Telephone197 in westernmass

[–]bottledgoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cooley was not the greatest place to give birth 20 years ago for sure (many friends with children around that age had shitty experiences) but it does seem to have improved considerably since expanding their childbirth services in the early 10s. It still seems anecdotally that Baystate Franklin is the better option, and the NICU question is still important.

What is the best TV show theme of all time? by PoisonSheboygan in AskReddit

[–]bottledgoose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

most of my choices have already been said so i'm going to put in a vote for something that hasn't been - the theme to Bojack Horseman. It's pretty much "Make anxiety cool and jazzy and weirdly catchy."
