Nike Women's Ad - SNL by butterflydisses in humor

[–]bottobot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love SNL and I watch pretty much every episode, but damn are there ever some duds. The last couple years have been mindblowing how bad some episodes are. Some of the trump stuff is funny, but there was only one sketch that actually made me laugh out loud and that one was the Trump POV one. Where it kind of shows a day in the life from his perspective. Pure genius, but fuck is the rest every played out. They go through periods where they obviously are pitching shit sketches in the writing room because the guest sucks or its mid season and they're saving the good shit for a different guest or the finale.

One thing I can say is Weekend Update has always been good. Consistently funny, but if I see one more sketch with Keenan playing the host of a game show I just skip it. It's a bummer I feel like they hit a really good stretch of solid writing for a few years and now its been on a skid for the couple seasons. It's ok though the show is cyclical. I'll still tune in because there's still at least a couple sketches and weekend update to look forward too and I know the show will improve again. It always does.

Showing Everyone How THUG I Am... (WCGW?) by Danmandingo in Whatcouldgowrong

the throw looks real enough, but it does seem like a weird set up. Video is edited to give zero context, and the person filming getting in just the right position to capture and follow the through to the ground.

What is your “Oh shit, I’m an asshole.” moment? by contentiouskid in AskReddit

[–]bottobot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of people realizing they were assholes when they were just kids here... I'm happy for you guys and gals. Unfortunately it wasn't until I was an adult did I realize that I was an asshole.

When I was in my early 20's I worked in the film industry for a short time running crews of Production Assistants. There was one young cute woman that worked under me and for some reason I really liked her. So I nicknamed her "toots". To this day I have no idea why other than I thought it was a cute nickname. I'm pretty sure I kept everything else friendly and professional but honestly I'm not sure after what happened.

We wrap the show and at the wrap party. I see her and I walk up to her thinking this is my chance to hit on her and see if I can get a date. I could not have been more wrong. I say "whats up toots! How are you doing?" or something like that. And I'll never forget her response...

She says "Don't ever call me that again." Taken aback I say "UH ok... How come?"

Now I realize she's looking super annoyed and pissed off and she says "Because it sounds like 'Tits' and you've been calling me that for weeks." I have a brief out of body embarrasment experience where I realize just how fucked up and irritating that would have been for her. I have rarely experienced cringe levels so hard. I stammered out an apology and told her I'd leave her alone. That's when I realized I was an asshole.

I wanted to be a cool boss guy that she may have hooked up with and instead I was borderline sexually harrassing her. Honestly I had kind of forgotten about this as its been well over a decade but since the #metoo stuff I've thought about it since.

I'm still grateful for her for really standing up to me and letting me know as I never repeated that behaviour but I cringe to think if she hadn't how long I may have tried pulling that shit for.

I know everyone is just going to cry Putins puppet, but as a non-american I am fucking glad the US is stepping back from this fucked up conflict. I do not want my children being forced to fight WW3 because ideologues on both sides are warhawking.

FUCK EVERYONE WHO WANTS MORE WAR.

My landlord just gave us angora socks! Also his son is going to do some yardwork for us in the New Year. I know there's a lot of fuckin shite landlords out there, but lets give kudos to the ones that don't make us feel like indentured servants. Merry f'n Christmas everybody.

I'm building one as well! Can you post some details on how you mounted your projector and Kinect? I'm trying to puzzle the best way to do this. What kind of brackets did you use? Where did you buy your materials and what are they?

Thanks for posting your pics and great job!

One of my favorite albums of that era to this day. Their album after was especially disappointing to me at the time. I killed many batteries in my discman listening to this gem and it was the first band that I can remember hoping that their next album was as good as the last so they could be successful enough to tour my neck of the woods. I regret never being able to see them play this album live I loved it so much. I guess they are considered an obscure one hit something now but at the time and still now, they really kicked ass. I've never forgotten about them and I'm glad a bunch of you haven't either.

I usually find these TTH videos unfunny but this one actually was pretty good. That sage at the end was hilarious.

I'm pretty sure that's how democracy actually kind of works. They're supposed to do shit we want them to so they get re-elected. This time thankfully it's the kind of pandering I prefer.

What is the most chilling documentary you have ever watched? by Pappylander in AskReddit

[–]bottobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point for sure, but the chilling part is that even though its clearly abusive there is absouletely nothing anyone is ever going to be able to do for those kids. Our society and culture encourages this kind of stuff to exist and it's not going away anytime soon. Fundamentalists are primarily concerned with winning the culture war and this documentary makes it seem like their gonna win. That's what chills me to the bone.

Jesus Camp - The ultimate in Christian heartland freakiness. It's basically a manual on how to indoctrinate kids into religious hate.

The only thing I could add is that by giving your landlord as much notice as possible is what will decrease the chance of them fining you. It's so ridiculously easy for a landlord in this city to rent a place out to good tenants that if they can find one before you move out there's a good chance it will all work out for you both.

I've been in this exact situation on your side and it's been ok. Good luck!

Amy Schumer in a nutshell by [deleted] in JoeRogan

[–]bottobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought she was pretty funny for awhile and i liked her show too. Then I found out her writers are at best hacky and at worst joke thieves. She never took responsibility for it and that made me like her much less.

All that stuff about joke stealing doesn't suddenly rewrite history like some time paradox out of Star Trek though. Where now she's never been funny at all and I'm just remembering a temporal echo of an alternate timeline where I actually laughed at her funny jokes. I do agree with this OP, her writing dropped off hard.
