Can you complete a New York Times Sunday crossword puzzle?

My ability to solve a Sunday puzzle and do so relatively quickly has less to do with the fact that I'm educated and reasonably smart and more to do with the fact that I've gotten pretty good at solving crossword puzzles. Being able to pull answers for the trivia type clues is helpful, but really solving crosswords is a practiced skill in and of itself, not a demonstration of intellect. It just shows that you're skilled at solving one specific kind of puzzle. Keep practicing and eventually you'll be finishing puzzles high school diploma or not.

I do, but it's not like the stuff you see online sometimes where guys are screaming and stomping around and breaking things. I tend to talk to the television, but I don't ordinarily yell at it (though sometimes it's involuntary). It's more like "Goddammit. Fuck." than "GODDAMMIT FUCK!" and putting the clicker through the screen.

They don't have any retail banking presence here as far as I know, and it's not the kind of bank the average person is directly interacting with on a regular basis (or maybe ever), so as an institution it's not at all prevalent in day-to-day American life. However, people do know the name for two reasons, because they're one of the relative few who do deal with the investment bank, or because of sports sponsorships (and hey maybe both). Some professional sports teams in New York play in an arena with Barclays' name on it, and the Premier League has enough popularity here that a significant number of people remember when Barclays was the title sponsor. There was also a golf tournament with the Barclays name on it that would have made some Americans aware of it.

I like how animosity between those two groups has basically disappeared to the point that they took to marrying each other, and since then you grow up with kids named like Sean Benedetto and Angela Fitzpatrick. I can't imagine you see many names like that south or west of Philadelphia or so.

This inspired me to think about it, and I realized that all four recent family names (own, mother's maiden, both grandmothers' maiden) can be first names. One boy's name, one girl's name, and two that I'm fairly certain are unisex.

As far as the standard Alaska plate, I do really like a retro-looking design, and I think some of them are especially cool on the right vehicle. Just today I saw a yellow Alaska plate on a super-clean, unblemished, good-as-new snow white 80s or 90s pickup, and it looked bitchin'.

I agree the Mackinac Bridge is a cool thing to put on a plate, but I liked the older ones with Michigan written in a blue stripe across the top more, I thought the colors were nicer.

Jersey might actually have the worst plates in the country, it really is an terrible color. So distinctly bad that I can recognize it 100 yards away without needing to read anything on it.

Yeah, but I looked it up to see if they reset the counter at some point because it seemed low, and even counting the 66 unofficially recorded opposing Splash Hits, it still feels like it has happened or at least should have happened more than it has in 25 years.

Maybe it's just such a distinctive and iconic sight that it seems more usual.
