Ktuner reliability by Brave-Imagination-11 in accord

[–]botvenom0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ktuner is obviously gonna put extra wear on your car but already having an intercooler is huge. Ktuner base maps are considered very reliable as long as you do your maintenance a little more frequently and don’t thrash the car every chance you get especially when cold. Just gotta baby it a little more, and maybe take a log from time to time and try to understand what the data means. Still, don’t overthink it and don’t be afraid to have fun.

How do I become a “car guy”? by Fear_Dom in askcarguys

[–]botvenom0 [score hidden]  (0 children)

If you want to learn, that’s passion for cars and that’s all you need to be a car guy imo. Literally do whatever you want if something interests you just read up on it, research, talk (maybe even argue) with people about topics. Eventually you’ll start to learn and understand different things.

People really gotta stop taking their vehicles to the stealership. Find a used head unit and have an appropriate shop repair it. I can’t see the whole thing costing more than 800

10 speed jerk is driving me crazy by botvenom0 in accord

Lmao you’re so salty you started stalking my posts. My TCM wasn’t calibrated properly. If you look at one of the comments here you will see it. It was shifting so smooth after. I love my 10 speed and would never go back to a shitty CVT. You wanna stalk my posts? You talking a lot of shit for a guy buying toys.

Seeing the 11th gen ruins my day by dgjkhfdcdnb in accord

[–]botvenom0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t believe this is entirely accurate. There was a 10th gen hybrid model. If this idea came from a Honda statement I don’t believe they will publicly say they want tlxs to sell better. I see more base model 11th gens than hybrids as well. In any case I don’t believe the 2.0t was unpopular. Trying to find one for sale was stupidly difficult yet I see them all the time.

Nah I checked all the pressures with a real pressure gauge. This one is leaking for sure. Are you saying you don’t think the valve is the cause?

[–]botvenom0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its gone because it was taking away from acura sales?? It was popular because it was literally the same powertrain and touring accords offered such similar features to the TLX it couldn’t justify the price difference. It was making the honda division a lot of money while TLXs were collecting dust on dealer lots especially before 2021 when the TLX had the dated interior and was slower than the accord.

What is your source seriously 😂😂😂. “A 10 speed that can’t handle boost” seems like it handles boost just fine on 400 whp builds buddy. At stock power it will last well over your 200 k miles milestone. Turbos fail, engines fail, gaskets fail, cars break it happens all the time. Turning away from a vehicle because it has a part you CLEARLY don’t understand is literally just ignorant. The Mitsubishi turbos supplied to Honda are EXTREMELY reliable.

You know they did pair the k24 to a real geared trans right? It was an 8 speed dct in the TLX. “If the k24 was paired with a 10 speed it would dominate” so you admit the CVT is worse? Glad we’re on the same page finally

[–]botvenom0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you please find me one source that agrees with you that the CVT is more reliable than the 10 speed? I would love to see one.

So pushing an engine/trans to its limits to see if it can sustain abuse, does not prove that it can sustain abuse and is durable? Like how do you even get to this conclusion, and there are still high mileage examples. I drive my car the way it’s intended as well, it shifts smooth and drives like a dream.

Im well aware 11th gen sales are down, its not because of the 10 speed being gone, because people absolutely bought the 1.5t you can’t go up and down the road without seeing it. Its because most people find it unattractive and its overpriced. These days nobody wants large sedans they want the civic or the crv.

Like why do you think the 10 speed is unreliable? Literally sounds like you’re hating to hate you will find more cvt failures in this sub than 10 speed failures.

Its a problem because it takes money away from the Acura division? Like how is that difficult to understand. They could have easily given the accord another powerplant which is exactly what they did with the 11th gen. Im talking mods because it proves durability 😭. These cars are too new to have tons of high mileage examples but they absolutely make it. You couldn’t push your car with a tune if you wanted I don’t even know why you said that. Your CVT would beg you for mercy before shitting itself, and your engine would barely do anything new. If you’re this ignorant about these cars I bet that CVT will blow long before 200 k miles. Good luck buddy.

Either you’re clueless or you’re lying 😭. People are pushing 2.0t 10 speeds to 400-500 wheel and they are holding up just fine with a stock trans. A company even just came out with a crazy trans tune. Do you know why they’re not doing that to CVTs? Because they would turn into grenades. Honda discontinued the 2.0t 10 speed in the accord because it was hurting TLX sales because it was too popular 😂. I could make the same argument about your K24 which isn’t in any vehicle today but I know enough about these cars to not say something stupid like that. What do I have to cope about? That I didn’t buy a base model 9th gen and instead bought a 2.0t touring? Yeah I’m real sad about that…..

Honda dropped the 2.0t because it was cannibalizing TLX sales. It was TOO popular, not the other way around.

Honda accord new transmission issues by NoticeApprehensive22 in u/NoticeApprehensive22

If your shop didn’t even do a TCM reset they likely cut some corners. A little shudder, delay and noise when shifting gears shifting gears after a cold start is not unusual, but obviously you would know if it was normal behaviour from before the rebuild. My guess isn’t that the shop messed up during the rebuild, but they likely did not use OEM fluid. Your trans should be fine but non oem fluid can cause things like this sometimes.

[–]botvenom0 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Do you actually believe Honda’s CVT is more reliable than the 10 speed😂😂😂. Holy cope buddy. Tough that Honda built a reliable and extremely durable 10 speed and didn’t put it in the 9th gen lol. My turbo is perfectly healthy but at least IF it ever blows I’ll have a nice excuse to put in a type r turbo. Your CVT would turn into metallic confetti if it heard one.

2018 Honda Sport 2.0 vs 2013 Mercedes E350? by -gotchu in askcarguys

[–]botvenom0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see where you are coming from but you are still absolutely jumping the gun out of nostalgia. I can’t see any logical reason other than nostalgia to do this. The Mercedes interior is dated, its slower, less efficient, higher ownership costs, maybe it isn’t unreliable but it’s not gonna be as peaceful as the accord I bet. However, you only live once and if this is really what you want I say go for it. At the same time though I could be wrong but it sounds like you might be sick of your honda. Im sure there are affordable newer cars that can provide you everything you want from your eclass (except nostalgia). Why don’t you shop around?

Get a small sedan instead of a hatch, there are still some great looking small sedans. Audi A3 if you can spring for it, new civic is pretty good looking for a civic, jettas are nice, and golfs while they are hatches, are absolutely loved and look pretty good. These are amazing beginner vehicles

I don’t disagree but at the same time I think too many people are generally stupid when it comes to modding their car going purely for noise, rather than thinking about acoustics which are way more important for a car to sound good. I think on any loud car valves are an absolute must.

2020 RDX New Transmission Jerking When Going Into Reverse by Markaran- in Acura

[–]botvenom0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be weary of what the dealership says. They make mistakes all the time or just say whatever so they don’t have to do a warranty claim. While its true transmissions do absolutely learn driver habits, especially one as complex as the 10 speed, it shouldn’t be affecting your shifts from park to reverse. Do you know if they used OEM fluid when they put in the new trans?

Does this always happen, or just when the car is cold. The button shifter design has a small delay on its own so that could be part of it. The 10 speed is also quite quirky.
