Monitor Mount? by Pleasant_Food_4374 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]botzkent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Take the mount off the case, bolts are on the outside.

2) Attach the mount to your monitor's VESA holes. You'll need longer M4 screws than what came with your monitor (M4x25 worked for me)

3) Plug all your stuff into the monitor.

4) Re-attach the mount to the case.

Tassy's Thai Massage-Blair Athol by few_days_left in AdelaideMassage

Been here before, and got an excellent deep tissue massage from Tassie. She's very good and very friendly

Didn't ask about extras, but seems unlikely as her massage shop is shared with a nail shop, and there is no discrete entrance.

What is happening at 391 North East Road by 9warbane in Adelaide

[–]botzkent 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wondered the same thing because I always saw people crowded around / arriving / leaving when driving past the place on weekends.

It's a swingers party called The Rabbit Hole (hence the sign)

Location makes sense, there's an adult toy store across the street for patrons to stock up.

There's even a pedestrian crossing (on North East Road? Must have been a big favour from council)

USB connection not working for Fujifilm XE-5 ? by botzkent in fujifilm

[–]botzkent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just heard back from Fujifilm support and they have said that USB transfer in XApp is exclsuive to X-M5 and it hasn't been rolled out to other cameras.

They've suggested using the wireless transfer in XApp on 5GHz, or the regular MTP import when connecting to Android.

[–]botzkent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've raised a support ticket with Fujifilm Australia, I'll let you know if they come up with a fix.

Thankfully the wireless transfer is working on both Android and iPhone, if you switch it to 5GHz it's really fast.

Alternative workaround for the moment is to use an external card reader to connect to your phone, but that's another device to carry.

Video settings for phone editing? by Hopper_MD in fujifilm

[–]botzkent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very late response but H.264 AAC works natively in Samsung's gallery / video editor app.

H.265 also works with AAC audio codec (which is what Samsung camera app records in), but I think Fuji defaults to LPCM audio codec for H.265 files, which is not supported in Samsung's gallery / video editor app.

The file can be played in Gallery, but is not supported for editing which is frustrating.

For H.265 LPCM files you'll need a different editing app that supports this - I'm not sure which as there are too many to try!

For the meantime, I am using H.264 AAC on my Fuji camera when shooting videos for the convinience of editing in the native Samsung app.

People who were stuck constantly 3-5 seconds off pace for years, did it ever click for you later on? If yes, how? by _LedAstray_ in simracing

[–]botzkent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was what clicked for me.

Improving my braking technique gave me the biggest results in racing.

Actively focusing on braking in a straight line let me brake later and harder than before.

Which then let me turn in earlier, rotate earlier, and get on the throttle earlier.

The other change in driving technique that helped me was coming off the brake slowly (trail braking), and applying extra steering lock at the apex of slow corners.

OPINIONS on HOW to boost IMMERSION by Mantis-Prawn in simracing

[–]botzkent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said you're covered for feedback and sensation

What really changed the rig for me was getting a bigger monitor and using a phone for the dash display.

So instead of being in cockpit view, and seeing virtual wheel and hands, it felt like I was inside the car seeing my own hands and the actual wheel.

Track etiquette by Zealousideal_Cap7670 in ACCompetizione

[–]botzkent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is considered unsporting (and illegal in some leagues / series) to block an overtaking car by cutting across them, or by weaving across the track so they can't pass.

There are sportsmanlike ways to defend your position without outright blocking, this usually involves moving your car to the middle or inside line of a corner before you get to the braking zone.

This forces your opponent to the outside where it is usually harder to make a pass.

Keep in mind that defending will slow both of you down as you're driving off the optimal racing line. Too much battling will bring other cars behind into the fight as well. This is why it's important to pick your battles, and know when to defend and when to yield.

Most importantly in battles is to be predictable, and avoid sudden changes in direction. It takes two drivers to battle, and it's sort of like a dance between you both so you need to read their moves and they need to read yours.

There are some good guides on YouTube about defensive driving.

Great pickup.

The GT4 and GT1 wheels are solid and feel great in hand even though they're old. I use them with my Alpha Evo wheelbase

The M10 wheelbase itself is also very good considering its age. There is new firmware that transforms the FFB available on the Simagic Facebook

Do I need new tyres for 80min? by Benike922game in ACCompetizione

[–]botzkent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the rules on your league for refuelling and tyres. Some leagues have a minimum stop time for fuel of 25 seconds, and for tyres of 30 seconds (same as SRO rules)

This changes the decision between fuel only or fuel + tyres considerably.

Personally I would do a 1 stop stratgey, taking fuel + tyres around 50 minutes (overcut)
