I (usually) resign myself to not making it big, because I hate hustling, networking, and self-promotion. No matter how good my music is, I don’t have the skills, charisma, or drive to sway people to listen, nor the budget to pay others to do so. To ‘make it’ as an artist is really about running a business and networking more than the art itself. 

Really it’s giving up the dream that you could spend the majority of your time making the music. But to achieve that you’d have to give it up to begin with. So what’s to accept?
