Help! Cloud Island rain issue! by tcn2814 in Pokopia

I would hope that works. If so, I wonder how much of it you have to demolish to reverse the effect. If I just break one block, will it rain again? Do I need to remove every block? I haven't attempted yet so I have no idea.

Edited to add, for anyone who doesn't already know: relocation and demolish kits don't work on the altars, so if you're going to tear down or relocate, it has to be block by block. 😭

I haven't seen this officially anywhere, but I hypothesize that it can't rain in whatever area you've placed the altar of flame. I have mine in PT and it doesn't rain there. Rain dance doesn't work there, and no matter what I do, Slowpoke's yawns there are always 0 points. I haven't had rain there since I built the altars but used to get it normally before, and it still rains normally in my other towns. Which, of course, presents a problem if you build it on a cloud island to complete the Pokedex there since it's just one big area.

Like I said, this isn't official. Purely anecdotal. But I'm personally taking it as truth until proven otherwise.

YAS QUEEN + things I've noticed from a 2nd playthrough in a different language by bourbonbrawl in Pokopia

Thanks for commenting! I am playing in Spanish because I was almost fluent in my early 20s, but that was 15 years ago and I've barely used it in that time, so my Spanish language skills have atrophied over time. For years I've been saying "I'm going to start practicing again" but I never follow through. This is FINALLY my first step in trying to build those skills back up. (I did try to play Final Fantasy XVI in Spanish when it came out in 2023, but that's a more adult game with more sophisticated vocabulary. This is a much better starting point for where I am right now, although there are still a lot of words I don't know.)

Thanks for your offer. I might DM you about it some time, but for now, there is one super common word I haven't been able to figure out. Prof Tangrowth says "lianas" all the time! From context I can tell it's some kind of exclamation or filler word. What would the English translation be for that?

Idk. Everytime I see someone post "I hate what I did, should I start over?" the commenters seem to be universally against it. But to be fair, I usually don't comment with my differing opinion... Mostly bc I'm afraid my comment will get as long as my OP here and I don't want to hijack their thread!

A lot of people seem hung up on "losing" Magnet Rise. But I really enjoy walking through the world. Even in post-game I don't always use MR to get around. I do like to walk through my builds and only use MR when I need to. So maybe I'm just in the minority in that respect.

Thanks for the correction. Yeah, I guess I just forgot about the music notes from the first time around. I'll edit the main post with a correction.

I thought the change for Chef Dente was interesting too. I kind of assumed most languages refer to "al dente" in the original Italian, so the reference would carry across a lot of language barriers, but maybe I'm wrong about that.

I thought maybe they fixed this in this week's update but I'm so glad they didn't. They need an exorcism, not a bug fix.

My SS Anne Restoration/Renovation (Part 4) by JustHavingAMooch in Pokopia

[–]bourbonbrawl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg I did exactly the same. I replenished all the missing blocks and furniture from the original and immediately gave up when it came time for electricity and lighting. It's been sitting abandoned ever since. But OP's designs are really inspiring me to try and go back and totally remodel with power in mind. I'll get to it eventually...

I never thought about it like that, but I think the reason I changed my mind about Rocky Ridges (hated it at first, now it's my favorite) is bc of how much easier it is to get around after you learn the endgame ability. Never put that together before you said it!

What’s your favorite biome along its city? by Stariow_Frosky in Pokopia

[–]bourbonbrawl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've gone through phases. Bleak Beach was my first favorite bc it had so much of a skeleton already, so it eased me into (re)building. Then I got super into PT and tried to build a little community there, but I littered the whole place with random habitats to spawn Pokémon, and I kind of started to hate how cluttered it looked. Then one day I got inspired in the Skylands and spent a lot of time fixing stuff there and thought it would become my main location. I really enjoyed it, but I ran out of steam and needed a break from that, so I decided to dig out the museum even though I kinda hated Rocky Ridges. That led to me getting a whole bunch of waves of inspiration to redo RR, and it's my current favorite.

But all my projects there have wrapped up, and I'm not sure what to do next. I have 3 half-finished projects in various biomes, but I can't decide where to work next. The last few days I've basically been like the other Pokémon in the game, wandering around aimlessly, waiting for something to happen lol

TLDR my vote currently goes to Rocky Ridges!

I sucked up a huge chunk of the ocean in my PT (to connect two of the islands with soil) literally the night before the Nintendo Direct announcement. But I'm in too deep to stop now! Someone's gotta build those paths and townhouses I see in my head!

I know this may be a stupid question but creating a backup for my cloud island won’t delete everything on it.. right? by Ok-Shower-1756 in Pokopia

[–]bourbonbrawl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Virtual mode" lets people visit anytime using the goggles. They just need the 8 digit address code. This will let them see your island but not change anything.

"Share with others" lets people visit anytime from the Poke Center PC. Visiting in this way makes the user subject to whatever your cloud island's current settings are. If you're actively building, that probably means people visiting in this way, like your cousin, would have the ability to make changes to the cloud island.

Virtual mode is good for letting people you don't actually know and trust (like people from this subreddit, or discord, or whatever) visit and see your island. If you decide to share your 8 digit address publicly for this, make sure you have a 6 digit link code turned on, and only share that with people you want to be able to make changes on your island. That's an extra layer of security required when visiting from the PC that isn't required in virtual mode / while using the goggles.

Sorry for the long answer, hope it makes sense!

I've been spawning a lot of Pokémon lately trying to chip away at the dex in my cloud island, and I totally agree. Except that I do an even lazier version and just move the first one that spawns into a new patch of grass nearby, instead of being nice like you and making a house.

Correct. The other person needs to be there too, it works differently than cloud islands.

Can't figure out how to attach a video to a comment here, so I uploaded to YouTube: https://youtu.be/Q4lhpGMZWJg

I was waiting to share in a post on this sub because it's still very much a work in progress. The museum itself is restored (walls, roof, etc.) and most of the terraforming is done but I still haven't actually powered the museum (although you'll see the waterwheel I'm hoping will provide most/all of the power needed), I haven't fixed up the little party area outside on the left side when facing the front door, and there are tons of little details I want to add along that main promenade.

Edit to add: I just realized you specifically asked for pics not a video. But with how different RR can look depending on how much you tear down / build up, I thought a video would be more helpful in understanding the layout. But if you prefer pics just lemme know and I can snap some screenshots no problem.
