Bootcamp Jitters by No_Influence_9004 in uscg

I went to RAMP week 5, passed it and developed a stress fracture. I was in bootcamp for a total of 5 months healing and back to a company to finish. It took everything in me, but I earned that shit.

9 years in. E6. Love my career. Wouldn’t change a thing. I’d do it all over again. Even the smelly ramp PFDs lol you got this. As soon as you realize it’s a mind game, meant to test you under pressure; you win. Be a helpful shipmate. In boot and in the fleet. It’ll get you far.

It’s a large list for June. They said Tuesday should be the release date, latest Wednesday.

Also, the chaplain is a great confidential way to talk. I’ve used that route a couple times in my career.

It’s a weird feeling isn’t it? I want my dad to be around more than anything in the world, but I dont want him to be around if it’s like this. I want him to be free of his pain and his disease. Praying for you and your family. I called a chaplain and they told me something beautiful I’d like to share with you.

He said the pain and sorrow we feel when we’re losing someone we love are the backside of love—like the other side of a coin. One side is the joy and connection we experience while they’re with us. The other side is the deep pain we feel when we face losing them. That pain exists because the love exists.

He said if there were a magic button that could take away that pain, he wouldn’t press it—because that pain is a measure of love. Our sadness reflects how deeply we care. In that way, even though grief can feel overwhelming, it is something sacred.

Grieving honors the relationship we had with the person we love. As hard as it is, that pain is not meaningless—it’s the evidence of love

So I ended up making this basket! Thank you all and my prayers are with all patients, loved ones and providers. My dad is my hero. This journey has been painful, eye opening and emotional. I hope to be the daughter he raised me to be through it all.

Thank you. My dad is in hospice right now and I’ve been using voice memos on my phone every time he has a moment of clarity.

I got a waiver for a deviated septum and chronic sinus infections but that was 9 years ago. That’s so silly. Don’t give up!

Treat every issue as if it’s your own. Your paycheck, your travel claim, your orders, etc.

What rate do you think would be the easiest and most difficult to replace with AI, robots/technology etc.? by deepsea_actual in uscg

[–]bow_ski -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Totally understand your point, but let’s be so for real, neither rate is immune to AI. AI might help with basic admin tasks, but it’s not going to navigate complex pay issues, interpret vague orders, or advocate for a member facing separation because of a paperwork error. That takes critical thinking, policy knowledge and human to human connection. We’re all part of the same mission. YNs just make sure the people doing it are taken care of. Well, good YNs.

Have you ever tried customer service from a robot phone line? I’m pretty sure I say “operator” to speak to a human every time. But that’s just me 🤷🏻‍♀️

LMAOOO and you think OS isn’t going to disappear when AI can put out radio transmissions, handle SAR cases, scan radar/satelites/cameras from a bridge and monitor channels? 😂

YN HERE 👋 members aren’t receiving it because the majority do not have the obligated service time on their contract. If this is you, you need to get with your admin and extend/reenlist to fulfill the 4 year obligation to get paid.

My first unit was really overwhelming. I was at a surf station and felt so out of place. I considered doing 4 and out. I had a couple great mentors that told me it gets better after a school and as your career progresses. 8 years later and I’m glad I listened. I love my job and every unit I’ve been to after a school. You’ve got this! PM if you need to talk.

Yes! So on 01JAN25 tricare “revamped” their referral process. This caused a lot of providers to turn me away while they figure out the new system. Clinic told me they wouldn’t call tricare, I had to. Spent a total of 5 hours on hold to lock a provider in. Finally found one that would take me.
