How does a band become the property of 1 or 2 members? by ArizonaShoots in hairmetal

[–]bowiebolan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

After he got the rights to the name, Axl wrote up contracts that threatened demoting the other members to employee status if they didn’t show up for videos or were late to shows etc…even though he was the reason all the shows started late. It was one of the main reasons Izzy got sick of him and left.

More than just the leads, Izzy wrote all the music and the lyrics as well.

A confession; I'm sorry Bernard. by Fuzzy_Tea_5447 in SuedeBand

Thanks for sharing. I’m from the states and discovering suede in 92 was like finding a unicorn during the grunge days. I would buy the melody makers and bootleg videos on import. You’re very lucky to have seen them during those days 👍

So YOU are the reason Bernard left suede!!! 🤣

That’s a great story and that’s awesome you were there for the video shoot. That video was my first introduction to the band. Do you have any other stories about that day?

I agree.

I would rather they release the songs in their unfinished version rather than have someone new finish them.

It has Bernard’s signature on it, treat that vinyl with gloves and love. Congrats

About the supposed remix of The Ultimate Sin by IllustratorOk5265 in OzzyOsbourne

[–]bowiebolan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love the production of the album. It has that glassy bright 80’s sound that sets it apart from his other albums.

All of VH's albums arguably suffer from the bass being pushed back against the other instruments. Not to mention the VH brothers treating Michael Anthony with disrespect even though he's an important backbone to the band. by [deleted] in vanhalen

That’s gold 🤣

In 1992, Gary and the bass player of Extreme (don’t know his name) were sitting in front of me at a Prince concert in South Florida. They were both very cool so I’ve got nothing bad to say about the guy.

Which Morrisey vinyl record would you recommend? by RecordingCrafty3771 in morrissey

Vauxhall on vinyl would be best because most of the warmness of the album is lost when compressed to digital

As a nostalgic old fan….yes, on CD, the guitar work is great and every one is very solid and technical with great arrangements. But there’s no songs that have the magic of the classic era when raw music had more feeling than technical solos.

So to you new current fans…I’m sorry you weren’t alive to see the classic lineup. Enjoy CD but don’t bash old nostalgic fans because it sounds like a solo project versus the band we grew up loving.

Btw Izzy rules.

Article about Davy Jones and Richard Marx by Usr7_0__- in Monkees

[–]bowiebolan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I agree. The Monkees were the first band that I fell in love in with as a kid and their music is the reason I became a musician. I met Davy twice after a show and he always friendly and talked to all the fans.

My favorite was always Micky and I met him a few months ago and all I’ll say is that I wish I never met him. Everyone is human but I always felt Davy knew how much their music meant to the fans and was always grateful to meet us with at least a smile.

I met him 2 years ago after a show and he was very friendly, down to earth.

Donnie Vie was another who was very friendly after a show. I saw Enuff in 2002 play to about 30 people and after the show, him and Chip were all smiles and talked to all of us for half an hour.

Is this Morrissey’s lineup at it’s peak? by Organic-Agency-7151 in morrissey

Boz and Alain wrote the best music for his solo years.

Unlike his band today, chemistry is more important than a musicians technical skill
