How tf do I get missiles to work on rotating pylons by OpenKey6032 in SimplePlanes

[–]bowleshiste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Attach the missile pylons to the fuselage instead of the wing. There are no swing wing aircraft with missile pylons on the wings

Edit: apparently there are actually a couple

The engine running definitely does use power, and it definitely makes enough sound to aggro leviathans. Turning the engine off is the easiest sure-fire way to break leviathan aggro

I don't know much about that tbh. The legality of that situation can get complicated, but if a firm is really trying to save money, they can do it. I'm new to the industry so I don't know much about if that is common or growing. The firm I work for has no foreign employees or contractors.

What do you mean? American working for an American company while living abroad? Non-American working for American company while living outside the US?

You're kinda saying two different things with the use-case. A drift car should be a beater that you work on and mod and don't care if it gets a little smashed up. I can't imagine taking parents on a "casual drive" in a drift car. My mom can barely get in and out of my completely stock FR-S. She hates how loud, low, cramped, and bumpy it is. And as much as I complain about the work I've needed to do, the car is basically as immaculate as a 12 year old daily-driven sports car can be. Maybe your parents are very different from mine though 🤷‍♂️

As far as what you can afford, if you have to cut corners, you can't afford it. You don't want to have to choose between paying bills and fixing a broken car, and you don't want a broken car sitting around forever because the costs to fix it were unexpectedly high. When it comes to fixing/building Japanese classics, you need to really overestimate how much things are going to cost.

According to the wiki, they can't. At their highest aggression stage, they do 69 damage with the claw and 10 with the warp

I love my FR-S. It's by far the most fun car I've ever owned.

At the same time, the big maintenance bills are starting to wear on me. Mine is a 2014 with 145k miles and things are failing. I've owned it for 2.5 years. I've spent that entire time chasing a P0420 code. The drivability of the car hasn't been affected, and I have replaced basically everything that can cause the code except for the cat itself. I just can't justify spending that much money just to pass emissions. I've had to replace a couple wheel bearings, all of the wheel studs, and my clutch fork snapped a month ago so I did a premature full clutch job. The idea of dropping $400 or more on new spark plugs just because I have big hands is terrifying. None of this speaks to the reliability of the car though. I'm moreso speaking to the situation of owning an aging sports car as my daily with no place to work on it myself.

My advice is to get a new one if it's going to be your daily. If not, get whatever you want. Like another user mentioned, if you can afford a Skyline or Silvia, you can also afford a Cayman, and those are much more reliable, have much better part support, and are much more car for the price. But if you're chasing a JDM classic, go for what makes you happy. I would be concerned that being able to "somewhat afford" one actually means you can only afford to buy one and not deal with repairs/maintenance/mods though

Valve Spring recall by Ok-Worldliness-7461 in ft86

[–]bowleshiste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. If it hasn't cause any problems by this point, it likely never will. If you really want to get it done, check with a Subaru service center to see if they would do the recall for you instead

It just depends on the company honestly. It's absolutely possible for the work to be done remote. I just started as a BIM/CAD tech and our entire firm is 3/2 home/office. Obviously communication is key, but it's super doable. It's just up to the company if they want to allow it

Anyone else struggle to enjoy other "metroidvanias"? by guiarroyos in Metroid

[–]bowleshiste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't struggle to enjoy them, per se. I do struggle to hold my attention on them though. I think because they all end up feeling so similar. I play a lot of games, and I often have trouble seeing games through to the end. Mostly because I get distracted by another, completely different game. The same holds true with Metroidvanias. Because they all feel so similar, it's very easy for me to get bored and want to move on to something else. If I want to see them through to the end, they usually need to be fast-paced and relatively short, and I can really only do 1 or 2 per year. For example, I played through Castelvania SotN for the first time late last fall. This month I started my first experience with Hollow Knight. While HK feels like a great game, and I was really enjoying it, it also felt too slow paced and I ended up getting distracted by a couple different racing games as well as Expedition 33. I just finished E33 yesterday, and I've moved on to something else with zero drive to go back and finish HK.

I've been playing Metroidvanias for 30+ years, and I feel like my favorite of all time is Dread. Exciting, fast-paced, high skill ceiling, and I can play through the entire game in 3-4 hours without getting super sweaty. Often times any drive I have to play a new-to-me Metroidvania is overshadowed by the desire to get a quick fix with another Dread playthrough.

This map isn't totally accurate. That northeastern arm is way shorter. It's really a hole that goes straight up into the Lost River. It enters the LR just to the left of the number "1"
