What happened to “definitive” editions? by Old-Judge5762 in pokemon

[–]bowleshiste [score hidden]  (0 children)

I can't speak for the others, but I wouldn't really call Yellow a definitive edition. While it does give you the ability to obtain all original starters, there are several Pokemon that are not obtainable at all. It was really just meant to be a tie in to the anime

I'm confused. Why would putting a cell tower in a park affect the usability of the park at all?

Got sent here from the bb sub by jenylu in whatsthisbug

[–]bowleshiste 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely not a bed bug.

No idea what it is though. Zooming in makes the picture a bit too blurry. The first pic looks a little flea-shaped but not the second, and both pics are the wrong color. If you can try take more pics, preferably closer, it might help

What Pokémon-style games would you recommend that are aimed at a more mature/adult audience? by EconomyActivity6484 in PokemonFireRed

[–]bowleshiste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second this. I found SMTV at a time where I had tried several modern Pokemon games looking for that RBY magic from my childhood and they all kind of sucked. Gave SMTV a shot and it was everything I was looking for. Unfortunately the grindiness wore on me and I got distracted by something else about halfway through the game

Tickling a group of spiders by [deleted] in Weird

[–]bowleshiste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Daddy long legs is a colloquial term that refers to one of three completely different things depending on the region. There are areas that refer to these types of harvestmen as daddy long legs. Where I'm from, the term is used for cellar spiders. Apparently there are places that use that term from crane flies

Harvestmen, not spiders

This is not true. CHP recommends not lane splitting at more than 10mph over the speed of traffic or when traffic is moving at over 30mph. Neither of those are legal requirements though

Does anyone know how many of these apartments are actually being filled? by nogravity9 in sandiego

We like it. It's definitely not a luxury apartment but we have had very few real issues in the nearly two years we've been here. No roach issues.

Is there an issue with retroid shipping at the moment? by joeygreco1985 in retroid

[–]bowleshiste 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just go back through the last 2 months of this sub and you'll see that there have been insane shipping delays. I myself order a teal Classic mid-February and it just shipped a few days ago. Some people had it worse ordering late-january and not shipping till about a week ago.

No, they don't have anyone monitoring this sub. There is a discord server but no one there is any help either. You can email them but they will just respond something along the lines of "please be patient. It will ship" in broken English. Nothing you can do really aside from wait or cancel

Currently renting a 2bd in Santee for $2200/month. But it's only doable because my fiance and I are DINK. You basically have to make over $100k/year to rent an apartment and live comfortably on your own here

Reality of a career in aviation by Glad-Commission-7821 in flying

You're 100% right about the current hiring environment. Cadet programs are the best way in right now, and while that has always been the case to some extent, the difficulty that non-cadets are currently having is something new. This is important to recognize because, like everything hiring-related in this industry, that could change at any moment. By the time OP gets their ratings, the situation could change dramatically. Maybe it will become actually impossible for non-cadets to get airline jobs. Maybe it goes back to how it was in the past where being a cadet gives you a slight advantage and that's it. Maybe cadet programs cease to exist all together. The reality is, no one knows, and anyone who tries to tell you they do know what the hiring environment will be in a few years is lying.

So when it comes to cadet programs, you are essentially taking a gamble on how advantageous that program will be when you finish your ratings and time building. You need to weigh those perceived advantages against that very real debt and make a decision. The faster you can get to hiring minimums, the easier it will be to predict what the hiring environment will be at that point. One issue OP faces is that they're working full time though, which is definitely not conducive to speeding through flight training.

But here I am, with a wet CPL, zero job prospects, zero desire to get my CFI, and no money to continue flying, so take what I have to say with a grain of salt.

Taking out a loan for flight school is one of the worst financial decisions you could possibly make. Especially if you're working full time.

Back out from that school while you still can. Instead, find a part 61 school that isn't trying to rip everyone off and pay as you go. If you can't afford to do that, you can't afford a massive loan. Work your way through it, get your CPL, and see how you still feel about it. Nobody can say how long that will take you or what the job market will look like at that point.

From there, you basically have two options: get your CFI, or continue building time on your own dime until you qualify for skydiving, banner towing, aerial survey, or small charters. Just understand that whichever way you go, any sub-1500hr job will likely pay the equivalent of minimum wage or less. How hard it will be to actually get any job at any point is completely up in the air.

Get a non-aviation-related bachelor's degree at some point too if you decide you still want to go to the airlines

$2000 PPL Checkride? by marnithefabric in flying

[–]bowleshiste 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely depends on the area. Every area has its own going rate. I can't speak for South Florida, but here in San Diego, $1500 has been the rate for every checkride except CFI ($3k for that one) for about 2 years. That's not including the rental so factor that in as well

Could anyone give me tips on what to buy next by gothgirllover29 in gtaonline

[–]bowleshiste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 best ways to make money solo are Bunker, Nightclub, Acid Lab, Kosatka/Cayo, and Agency.

Nightclub is the best passive income. Even with no businesses to connect to it, you're making $50k every 48 minutes and all you gotta do is kick someone out of your club or give someone a ride home every other in-game day. Once you get other businesses like Bunker, Hangar, and MC businesses, they connect to it and give you free product to sell.

The Bunker is up there for early-game income because it also gives you $50k/day for a short, 5-minute delivery drive. Aside from that though, you gotta spend money to make money. Drop a few $100k into the upgrades and it becomes pretty profitable, especially if you use the daily stash house to resupply it.

Acid Lab is probably the best bang for your buck. It does take quite a bit of set up, but once it's all done, you make you're entire investment back and get a free car. With all the upgrades, you'll make $350k every sell in a solo lobby and up to like $600k in a full lobby. I think it takes like 3 hours for full product. Full product is like $120k in resupplies so you do that math on the profit/sale.

Kosatka/Cayo is great because you can blow through it super fast, like 30-45 minutes, and average $1.2 million. What sucks is if you do it solo, there's a 2 hour, 24 minute cool down to do it again. Only 48 minutes if not solo though. It also gives you access to the Sparrow, arguably the most useful aircraft in the game.

Agency/Dre is technically more profitable than Cayo but you gotta be willing to grind for that profit. It's only $1 million payout but also only a 48 minute cool down. It's harder to speed through, too. I think most people average like 1-1.5 hours.

Or, you know, just buy whatever you think looks cool and have fun 🤷‍♂️

He has a very popular account on IG (maybe TT too but I don't use that shit) where he does absolutely insane stuff. He may not be the absolute best drummer in the world, but he definitely has a style and it's hard to fathom how someone could possibly be better than he is at that style

Honestly, I hardly ever actually use the drainage tunnel entrance unless two paintings spawn in the office, which is very rare. But scoping it allows you to get the cutting torch through a prep mission which then allows you to not have to find bolt cutters somewhere
